*COMPLETE* "You know he won't remember!" - 9 wk old baby's 1st visit to the World!

Yeah for Food & Wine Festival!!!

Boo for the crowds!!! We experienced the same thing on the Saturday we went and it was just insane! Like 40-60 people in line for the booths, just so not fun. Glad you did get to try a few things and that you got refreshed in France!

Sorry you didn't like the Fisherman's Pie. We didn't get that this past trip but have in the past and really enjoyed it ... perhaps it has gone downhill over the years.

Those are great PP+ pics from France! That is one of my favorite spots - not our last trip but the one before I got some great ones of just my DD and myself from that spot

"Just standing there with my family, watching my son enjoy his first fireworks show...it was amazing. Disney magic at its finest." Yeah! what a great moment and memory!

The crowds were truly insane. You could barely walk through World Showcase. It just wasn't an enjoyable time to experience F&W.

Sorry you didn't like the Fisherman's Pie. We didn't get that this past trip but have in the past and really enjoyed it ... perhaps it has gone downhill over the years.

We had heard so many good things about it! I would have thought it was just me but everyone felt this way.

Thank you!

"Just standing there with my family, watching my son enjoy his first fireworks show...it was amazing. Disney magic at its finest." Yeah! what a great moment and memory!

It was a truly wonderful moment. I don't even know if words can describe it. It is the same way I felt watching my son sleeping the morning after he was born - like your heart is so full that it may literally burst!

This morning we got up and got ready early. Luke was dressed in his "Woody" attire that my mom bought him. This outfit was only appropriate since we were headed to the only park we hadn't yet been to - Hollywood Studios!

23odtt.jpg

2dl5hyr.jpg

He is obviously very excited about this choice of park!

We made it to the park shortly after rope drop and headed the opposite direction of the TSMM mob (as we had Fastpass + to use later).

30bd268.jpg

The morning excitement clearly tired him out! :lmao:

We were headed down Sunset Blvd to ride my dad's and DH's favorite ride. But which one was it? Would we turn left or right at the end of the street? We turned...

right! We were going to Tower of Terror! The line was non-existent this early, so we hopped right on!

Since my mom doesn't like this ride, there was no need to use rider swap. After a great sequence, we went over and rode my mom's and my favorite ride....

After a few rides, we talked to M and her family. They were also in DHS this day, so they headed over and met us by RNRC. We took turns staying with the little ones while the rest of the group rode a couple more times.

Her son's face in this picture is priceless!

M and I took this super cute picture during our turn to watch the babies. :)

After this, M and her family left for a scheduled meet and greet with Minnie. We agreed to meet back at ToT afterwards. While waiting for them we looked around the RNRC gift shop.

1602bsl.jpg

Then we walked down Sunset Blvd a little bit and stopped for a couple Photopass pictures. (I really like these too!)

9gfskg.jpg

After that, we had killed enough time that it was time to meet them for ToT. This was their middle son's first time on ToT! He was three on this trip. M was unsure about letting him ride, but he really wanted to go. So we got in line. When we loaded onto the ride, M and I sat on either side of him. She explained everything that was going to happen. When we got to the part with the drops, I felt him slip his little hand in mine. Every time we would drop, he would squeeze! He did great, though! He said he liked it (but was in no big hurry to go again :rotfl2:). Here is our ride photo:

2w2mnhj.jpg

You can't really see him behind my husband, but he was there just squeezing away! You can see her older son sitting next to my DH.

After this, we parted ways with M and decided to get some lunch. We were all pretty hungry at this point. Since I had been stalking the dining reports, I knew where I wanted to stop for lunch! I had a delicious cupcake in mind. My dad decided that a turkey leg would make an excellent low carb lunch, so he headed in search of one while the rest of us went to Starring Rolls!

My dad found his turkey leg and met us at Starring Rolls to eat. He says that this was delicious (sadly, though, this was not included on the dining plan).

dpcsck.jpg

My mom and DH both got the turkey sandwich, and I got the ham. DH and I got chips as our side, while my mom got the apple.

1z1692u.jpg

The sandwiches were awesome, and had lots of meat (in case you couldn't tell!). The chips were nothing special, I think the apple was probably a better choice. Neither the chips nor the apple got eaten with the meal. It was so much food that we packed them in the stroller and ate them later. For dessert, my mom got the tiramisu (pictured above). For our desserts, DH and I both got...

2vkdsv8.jpg

delicious Starring Rolls cupcakes!

I had the Butterfinger and DH has the peanut butter. These were SOOO good. They were definitely the star of the show (pun intended). I should note that my mom actually thinks the tiramisu was better than the cupcakes, but I am having a hard time believing that! (Though in fairness, I did not try it since I don't care for tiramisu.)

Next update: finishing our morning at DHS! And what will our afternoon park be? Where will we dine?

Love his Woody outfit - so cute!

Wow, you really must have maxed out Rider Swap on RnRC. Did I count right that your mom rode 5 times?! Wow.

That's cute about the 3 year old riding ToT for the first time. We rode with friends and their 4 year old once (his first time) and it was very similar. Did you like it? Yes. Do you want to go again. No. :confused3 :rotfl:

I love that Peanut Butter Cupcake. So, so good! :thumbsup2

Hahahaha! Yes, we did ride some of our favorites several times. We had the fastpass + plus regular fastpasses we could use. In addition the standby lines weren't too long. Also, we sacrificed some of the things we like less to make more time for our favorites. For instance, we never hit Backlot Tour this trip. And we saw almost no shows. Not because we don't like them, but because Luke was just too little to sit patiently for an extended amount of time. So that freed up more time for rides!

When I left off, we had just finished our delicious Starring Rolls lunch. Rejuvenated, we headed out to ride some more rides. First up, Toy Story Midway Mania! I was wearing Luke for this ride, so I had to stop shooting a little early each round to hold him steady as the car whipped around the corners. But even with all that, I am proud to say I still managed to beat DH on this ride! :thumbsup2

When we came out it was raining, but fortunately our next stop was inside! We went over to look around One Man's Dream. We all really enjoy this exhibit! We didn't stay for the movie, as we wanted to ride something else before Luke was due to eat. So we walked over to The Great Movie Ride. We got the gangster sequence (of course!). I can't remember ever having seen this alleged cowboy sequence you DISers refer to. Oh well! We had a good time anyway. I was worried the loud noises in the "shooting" scene would upset Luke, but it didn't seem to faze him any. After this, he was ready to eat. I decided that Voyage of the Little Mermaid would be a nice, cool place to nurse him. Luckily, there was a show just about to start! My parents didn't have any interest in watching this, so they headed back down Sunset Blvd. and agreed to meet up with us in a little bit. From there they went to ride RNRC, as evidenced by the following photo.

3492uxs.jpg

And although there is no photo of it, I am certain my dad snuck in a ride on ToT. This was the only problem with the Photopass Plus. If we weren't together, the only way to get the photos was to write down the code and go back to that ride to add it later. But there were codes that didn't get written down and there were rides we never got back to to add the photos. :sad1:

While they were riding, DH and I sat down for VotLM. We got comfortable in the back so I could nurse Luke. Obviously, this was a much shorter show than we remember, though, so the show ended before Luke was finished. :rotfl2: So we decided to see if we could catch the One Man's Dream movie we missed before. But sadly, it was not meant to be. They had just started the movie when we arrived. So I finished nursing Luke on the bench near the theater. By the time the next showing started, it was time to meet back up with my parents. So we never caught the movie this trip.

We headed back to meet my parents, but first we needed to stop and change Luke. We headed to the bathroom near VotLM and the line for the changing table was out the door, past the gift shop, and nearly to the line for VotLM. :scared1: No one warned me that I would need a Fastpass for the changing table! :lmao: So instead, we walked over to a corner and I had DH sit with his legs outstretched. I laid Luke in the cradle made by DH's legs and changed him there. Several people walked by and told us what geniuses we were! :rotfl: Nope, not geniuses, just not willing to wait 30 minutes for a changing table. So with that taken care of, we headed back to meet my parents.

We regrouped and decided that we were all hot and tired (including Luke! ;) ).

We also knew that if we wanted any rest time before our dinner reservations, we better head out. So we did, but not without a few Photopass pictures!

Strangest Photopass pose ever. Thought maybe it was for a magic shot, but nope. :rotfl:

Little sneak turned his head at the last minute!

Next update: off to Epcot for our dinner reservations! And our first time on the revamped Test Track. Stay tuned!

Such a fun packed day at DHS! Your ride photos are so good!
LOVE Luke's outfit, and that smile is just precious!
Lovely photo of the three of you, even if Luke turned his head at the last minute
Can't wait to read about your thoughts on the new Test Track

That's crazy about the line for the changing table! It's funny the things you need Fast Pass for at WDW! Sounds like you found a good way around it.

Love the picture of your parents on RnRC!

I love that picture of them too! I have always felt lucky to have such fun loving parents. I feel bad for those kids whose parents are so stiff and proper all the time. I always assumed those were the kind of people who don't understand why we love Disney so much. I just think they don't understand why an adult would enjoy riding Dumbo or hugging characters. That's why I am so fortunate to have parents who love Disney and aren't afraid to cut loose! :)

When I left off, we were leaving DHS trying to get back to the room for a rest before our dinner reservations. But this was the first day that we realized that going back to the room wasn't working well for us. By the time we were leaving DHS it was 3, and our dinner reservations were just shortly after 5. Based on our experiences the past few days, we knew that by the time we made it back to the room we'd have less than an hour before we needed to leave again. That just didn't seem worth it to us. So instead of driving to the resort, we drove over to Epcot instead. We headed into the park, and we had a little time to kill before our dinner reservations. So we decided to see what the new (improved?) Test Track was all about.

My parents rode first, while DH and I waited with Luke. And we waited a LONG time. This was by far the slowest Fastpass line we encountered. We actually moved to a different spot because we were afraid we had missed them exiting. When they finally came out, it was our turn to ride. Here are our Test Track photos:

So what did we think? We.......

didn't like it! Sorry guys. The part where you designed your own car was okay (and maybe it would be more enjoyable if you had young children doing it?), but overall the experience was not great. The ride was fun as always, but the revamp just was not that exciting. And it really seemed to slow down the entire experience. Maybe in time the process will become more efficient? All I can say is, we liked it better before. :( We didn't waste our time riding it again this trip which is kind of sad because I actually enjoy the ride itself.

After we all rode, it was getting somewhat close to our reservation time. We didn't really have time to ride anything else and still make it in time, so we decided to wander over and see if they could get us in early. For tonight's meal, we were dining at the lovely San Angel Inn. This was my mom's pick, and to be honest I wasn't sure about it. Just like they didn't think they would like Yak and Yeti, I wasn't sure I would like this. Now don't get me wrong, I love Mexican food. In fact, Mexican is probably my favorite kind of food. But I am used to Americanized Mexican food. Greasy, cheesy, hole-in-the-wall type Mexican food. :lmao: So I wasn't sure what I would think of more authentic cuisine. When we got to the restaurant, it was time for Luke to eat. So I found a corner to sit and nurse him. Since we knew that would take a few minutes anyway, we decided to ask if we could wait for a table by the water. They said that was no problem, and we were seated after a short wait. The ambience of this restaurant is wonderful. I would have to say that if we were just voting on the actual restaurant itself, this would be the favorite of the trip. So beautiful, with the starry ceiling and the water beside us. We took a couple photos of the restaurant (but they don't do it justice).

726mpe.jpg

14w7hhg.jpg

Then we had our waiter take a couple pictures of us.

erwuug.jpg

This one is in focus, but you can't really see anything in the background.

2cxyc08.jpg

Here you can see the lovely background, but we are a little blurry.

After perusing the menu, we placed our order. The atmosphere in the restaurant made us feel like nothing would be better than having a drink next to the water under the stars. :thumbsup2 My mom and I both ordered a jalapeno margarita.

24lotp0.jpg

This was absolutely awesome! Smooth with a nice kick. DH ordered a pineapple margarita and we shared. This was okay, it was a little too sweet for me. The jalapeno was far superior. Drinks taken care of, we ordered our meals. DH and I both ordered the Traditional Mexican Dinner.

33b35gp.jpg

Tostadas de Tinga- pulled chicken seasoned with roasted tomato and chipotle, served on tostadas with black refried beans, green tomatillo sauce, queso fresco and sour cream

vg6jy1.jpg

Tacos de Pescado - deep fried fish tacos served with chipotle-lime aioli, cabbage, lime and green tomatillo sauce, all served over flour tortillas

2iiycl.jpg

Crema Bavaria - creamy bavarian mousse served with mixed berries, cinnamon, orange liquer and vanilla sauce

This was wonderful! My fears about this restaurant were completely unfounded, just like my parents' fears about Yak and Yeti. The fish tacos were the star for me...perfectly crisp and juicy with a flavorful sauce combination!

My mom ordered the Pescado a la Veracruzana - catch of the day served prepared with capers, olives, bell peppers, Spanish onions, and tomatoes, seasoned with white wine and spices over poblano rice. The fish this day was Mahi Mahi.

zvzvi0.jpg

For dessert, she chose Pastel de Queso con Cajeta - cheese cake with caramel sauce.

14lh4qx.jpg

She really loved everything, but thought the cheesecake was the best.

My dad's pick was Carne Asada - New York strip served with cheese enchilada, black refried beans, red bell pepper, onion, Mexican rice and guacamole.

15dqvki.jpg

As you can see, this was modified for his diet. It looks like they substituted grilled veggies for the sides. He was very also very pleased with his selection. And since it was free, he ordered Mousse de Chocolate - chocolate mousse and almond brittle candy.

vf8kg0.jpg

Since he couldn't eat this, the rest of us split it (despite being totally stuffed!). Everything at this restaurant was just wonderful! We were very happy we chose to eat here, especially since this was a last minute add-on for us.

After this, everyone was tired and full. Since we had powered through without a rest, we were basically spent. But we wanted to ride a couple more rides before we left. So we headed over towards Test Track, where we stopped for a photo.

2v9vugw.jpg

But we were definitely not waiting in line for that again! And we obviously wanted to stay out of World Showcase with the crazy weekend F&W crowds. So we headed over to Mission Space. Clearly our drinks had clouded our judgment, because we decided to ride the orange side right after eating! :rotfl2: Fortunately, we had a great ride and no one got ill! Then we went over and jumped on Spaceship Earth. Both of these rides had no wait at all! :thumbsup2 After our trip through the big golf ball, we headed back to POR. Shortly after we got there, this is what I saw:

wl84yh.jpg

:lovestruc Love those boys!

We transferred Luke to the Pack and Play and I read for a little while. But before too long, we were all in dreamland. Zzzzzzzz.

Next update: the one where everything breaks.

Glad you had a good experience with San Angel Inn. It certainly is beautiful in there and definitely calls for a margarita. We went there a few years back and were nervous about the so-so reviews, but we also got the traditional Mexican dinner and everything was great. Good last-minute addition to your ADRs!

Glad you all did okay with Mission Space right afterwards!

Adorable picture of your boys that night!

We really enjoyed it! As I mentioned, I had some reservations about this restaurant. I didn't know if I would like that type of food and I had heard mixed reviews about the restaurant. But we really liked everything here and the restaurant itself is beautiful! We would definitely return.

Saw your trip title and had to read your TR! We just got back from our son's first trip and people kept telling us the same thing. Ours is 21 months old, and he loved it!

The food and wine stuff looks delicious and Yak and Yeti is my favorite restaurant in all of Disney World (love that seafood curry, yum!)

Can't wait to read more!

We are actually thinking of going back when Luke is around that age. Are you doing a TR? I would love to hear more about how it went.

F&W was delicious! I didn't even try the curry because I was worried about the spice level with nursing, but my mom said it was awesome!

Can't wait to read more!

:)

Buzz Lightyear! The nice thing about this choice is that this ride has Photopass, so we have photographic evidence of his first ride! :thumbsup2

So what did he think? He was very excited! He loved looking around at all the lights. DH beat me pretty bad (as he always does), but I blamed this on the fact that I was wearing the baby! :rotfl:

Next update: lunch at BOG and finishing our morning at MK!

So I probably should be posting yet cause I'm sure I'll have so many more comments...I LOVE that his first ride was Buzz Lightyear! Also Luke is a doll...great first day outfit too.

Two things I love....babies and food. I'm loving the whole focus of this TR so far!

FYI this is SO helpful to me too, as we are in the process of planning our baby's first trip to WDW when he or she is scheduled to be about 9 weeks old. So great to be able to read through this and see pics. Thanks so much for sharing...I'm determined to put together a TR for our baby's first trip now in hopes of paying it forward to the next crazy new mom!!

Glad you enjoyed San Angel - while I was at a F&WF event the rest of my family had a spur-of-the-moment lunch there and really enjoyed it as well!

Very cute picture of sleeping Luke

I am so glad you are finding it helpful. Your trip is not until October, right? I am planning a post at the end where I go into more detail about taking a young baby. I plan to go into feedings, naps, weather, transportation, packing, rides, etc. I was going to do this at the end of the trip report. Hopefully you won't have left yet!
