I know I'm doing something wrong here HELP
10 day adult park hopper with no expiration--$487
adult annual pass-- $469
Is it cheaper to buy an annual pass?
In the short run, yes, it's cheaper to buy the AP. But...let's take my family for instance. I always have an AP. I go at least twice a year and have the DDE card. My dd used to go twice a year, but that isn't usually the case anymore. My dh never goes once a year...maybe every 18 months or so.
Here is what we have for park passes...I have my AP and renew it every year. My dd's AP expires tomorrow. Normally, I would have gotten her a 10 day non-expire hopper but we'll be in WDW in Sept for 3 days, then in April for 5 days (vacation week) and again before our Aug '09 cruise for 4 or so days. So, she'll get an AP when we get to WDW in Sept.
My dh has an older 10 day non-expire hopper. He used a few days on it in Jan when he was there for work. He'll use 2 more days on it in Sept. He will use the remainder of the days next Aug.
If you are going to be doing all your travel within that 365 day period, and then not returning again, and you'll be in the parks for 10 days or more, then sure...get the AP. But, if you'll be in WDW for 6 days in Sept, but won't be returning until Nov '09, then the AP won't be a good use of your money. You would be better off buying the non-expire hopper with 10 days...use 6 days now and you'll still have 4 more days for your Nov trip.
You have to do the math in order to get the right tickets for your family.
