I just saved $200 on 6 adult 8 day hoppers buying through UCT - thanks to Mousesavers!

I notice that on the AP it now has a third category as Charter. Does anyone know Charter is?

The Charter passes are available to people who purchased an AP the first year they were available and have renewed them within the allowable time window every year since. In addition, any person who has a Charter AP, when they get married, may purchase a Charter AP for the new spouse as long as it is done within a year of the marriage and also a marriage certificate must be shown. Additionally, any person who has a Charter AP may, during the year their child turns three, purchase a Charter AP for the child.

Note one a person has purchased a Charter AP they may continue to renew at the Charter rate as long as they renew no later than 30 days after the expiration date. If they go outside this period they are no longer eligible for Charter rates.

So I have 1 day left on a 3 day FL Resident pass from last year that I took the no expiration option on. If I go to EPCOT this October and upgrade to a seasonal FL resident pass will i get credit towards the seasonal pass? If so at what price? The prorated rate that I purchased it at or the new updated 3 day pass rate? Or at another rate? Never upgraded so a little confused. Little confused most of the time anyways, LOL. Thanks.

First thing is if your ticket was first used more than six months ago, even with the No Expire Option, the ticket may not be modified or upgraded in any way.

It it is within the six month period, you will pay the difference between the new current gate price of the Play-3 ticket and the new current gate price of the SP (plus tax)

I saved $141 on 2 10 day no exp tickets from UT! I'm more than happy to spend that $141 at WDW in some other way!

Well, we were going to need one more Seasonal Pass at the end of this month, so with the price going up about $10, one month's interest on the old price on the credit card will cost and extra $2, so we save a whopping $8 by having it on the CC for one month early. Woo! Haha. :)

10 day adult park hopper with no expiration--$487
adult annual pass-- $469

Is it cheaper to buy an annual pass?
Yes.

But there are many scenarios where someone would be better off buying the 10-day NE ticket vs. the AP.

If you are doing 5 park days this month and then 5 park days in September 2009, the 10-day NE ticket works well for you, but the AP would be worthless.

Same thing if you're doing 4 park days, then another 3 park days, then another 3 park days, over the course of more than 12 months ... in this case, the 10-day NE is the better move than the AP.

It all depends how you use park days. Unfortunately, a lot of people get sucked into the no expiration option without figuring out whether or not it's really a good deal for them, but this is now straying off-topic ....

Wow! I'm glad I bought my tickets last month. I got four 10-day hoppers with waterparks and no expiration for $1,899.80 from Undercover Tourist with the mousavers link. The same four tickets at the new prices with 6.5% tax would have cost me $2287.60. I saved $387.80!!! I can use it to pay for gas. And now, I'm all set for next week's vacation and our 2010 WDW vacation.

OK hold on... can I buy an AP tomorrow (Saturday) before the price increase on Sunday and not activate it until Feb 2009 when I am actually going to be at WDW?

Thanks Cheshire. Sometimes I think you need a PH.D. in Ticketology to keep track of what you can and cannot do.
When you say I could upgrade at the current 3 day FL ticket price we're not saying $129 correct. We are saying what 1/3 of that is right (since there is only 1 day left on the pass)? So it would be $239 (New Seasonal Pass Price) - $43. All contigent if its been used within the last 6 months.

Thanks, Knox. You have us spoiled here with all your great ticket information.

10 day adult park hopper with no expiration--$487
adult annual pass-- $469

Is it cheaper to buy an annual pass?
In the short run, yes, it's cheaper to buy the AP. But...let's take my family for instance. I always have an AP. I go at least twice a year and have the DDE card. My dd used to go twice a year, but that isn't usually the case anymore. My dh never goes once a year...maybe every 18 months or so.
Here is what we have for park passes...I have my AP and renew it every year. My dd's AP expires tomorrow. Normally, I would have gotten her a 10 day non-expire hopper but we'll be in WDW in Sept for 3 days, then in April for 5 days (vacation week) and again before our Aug '09 cruise for 4 or so days. So, she'll get an AP when we get to WDW in Sept.
My dh has an older 10 day non-expire hopper. He used a few days on it in Jan when he was there for work. He'll use 2 more days on it in Sept. He will use the remainder of the days next Aug.
If you are going to be doing all your travel within that 365 day period, and then not returning again, and you'll be in the parks for 10 days or more, then sure...get the AP. But, if you'll be in WDW for 6 days in Sept, but won't be returning until Nov '09, then the AP won't be a good use of your money. You would be better off buying the non-expire hopper with 10 days...use 6 days now and you'll still have 4 more days for your Nov trip.

You have to do the math in order to get the right tickets for your family.

If I call now and upgrade the tickets on my package , right now I have 5day w/ waterpark and fun, to 10day w/hoppers to I will only pay the current price right? ( although since there are just two if us it won't be the end of the world if I wait.)

I made up a chart comparing last year's and this year's prices:
WDW2008PriceIncrease.gif

You can download this spreadsheet at http://www.scribd.com/doc/4425044/WDW2008Increase (just click the "Download" button at the top)

I am going to upgrade my 1 day base from my package to a 4 day base today at the current prices. When I get to the resort and use a few of those days, can I add a few days still locked into the old prices?

Even if you bought your ticket at 2007/2008 prices, once you use your ticket its value becomes equal to the price in the 2008/2009 pricing scheme. You will only pay the difference between the 2008/2009 price of your ticket and the 2008/2009 price of the ticket you are upgrading to.

I just called and upgraded to 10 day MYW/Hoppers and paid 117.00 VS the 152.00 I think I would have paid at the park in a couple of weeks... He did say I would have had to pay the new prices after tomorrow, so I am glad I did it, is the cost of a couple of CS meals :goodvibes

Thanks All....
