*COMPLETE!* Dining Report 12/3-12/10 DxDP 70 SNACKS!

Of course we had to check out the gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian.

This thing is really something to see. Worth a trip to the resort in itself. Unfortunately the shop was not open so we couldn't purchase a piece to take with us...

Next we headed to Downtown Disney. First stop was Goofy's Candy Co. (I'm sure you could tell that by DD's dress).

There's just so much to pick from here... when you have 70 snack credits to use up, it's a little overwhelming!

We put our orders in and DD had to take a picture :)

More yummies:

Our order:

We ended up getting around $70 worth of snacks for free!

Did you by any chance try the cupcake they sold at the GF Gingerbread House? We tried it after the CM said it was the best red velvet recipe she's ever had (we figured she was lying)- it was true though! It was absolutely incredible. I think about that cupcake everyday :rotfl2

I wish! Unfortunately the shop at the gingerbread house was closed when we were there... I believe it didn't open until 10am and we were there right around 9:15 or so. I looooove the red velvet cupcake at Starring Rolls so I definitely would've been all over that if I had seen it! Darn...

All caught up! Your pictures are outstanding!! I am so enjoying your reviews!!!
And finally, a picture of the Sundae Sampler from the Cali Grill!!! I love it!!:lovestruc

I've been to T-Rex once before. We weren't on the DxDp... we were actually using the TIW card. I really enjoyed that meal and was hoping for another good one. One thing is for sure, you don't run out of things to look at while dining here.

We have a few Rainforest Cafe's within a few hours drive of where we live. We've been to them several times so when I'm in Disney, there's no way I will waste my time at that place rather than T-Rex. It would be like choosing McDonald's over 'Ohana.

We had a reservation for 1pm but we were able to check in earlier... we got in line and were seated within about 5 minutes under this guy:

This was our view:

Fire!

We were in the center of the action. When all of the noise started and the comets started flying we got to see it all :)

Appetizers..
My sister ordered Colosso Nachos for Two - Seasoned beef, pico de gallo, black beans, green onions, cheddar cheese, queso sauce and sour cream $16.99. She completely missed the "for Two" part of the description. So when they showed up she was quite surprised it was so big.

I ordered the T-Rexadillas - Chicken, peppers, green onions, Monterey jack and cheddar cheeses grilled in flour tortillas and served with pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole $10.99. Last time we were there I ordered the Supersaurus Sampler and I remember loving the quesadillas. This time, they were just "okay". A little blah but the pico de gallo was nice.

Entrees..
For the life of me, I cannot recall what my dad & sister ordered for entrees. I know it's a steak but not sure which one. I do have a picture though so if anyone knows, feel free to chime in!

They were happy with their choices. The steaks weren't amazing but they were good. The shrimp was good and so were the veggies. My sister loved the rice.

I ordered the Tribal Tacos - Your choice of tempura fried or blackened grilled tender Mahi Mahi wrapped in corn tortillas and topped with red cabbage, fresh cilantro, pico de gallo and our T-REX avocado cream sauce $17.99. I didn't want to eat too much because I knew we had Fulton's coming up that night. This was a good, light choice. I ate one and saved the other for later.

I think we walked out of there with 3 to-go boxes FULL! lol...

My son ordered the popcorn chicken with waffle fries:

He loved them and ate the majority. DD ordered mini corn dogs with chips.

She also really loved these.

Dessert..
I had always wanted to order the Chocolate Extinction - A gigantic portion of chocolate fudge cake served with ice cream, fresh whipped cream drizzled with fudge and caramel sauces and sprinkled with Butterfinger crumbs. Enough for two or more. $16.99 and I knew this was my chance. So we got it. No one had any clue as to what was coming... then it arrived.

The picture does not do it justice. It is just ginormous! 4 LARGE pieces of chocolate cake with caramel and huge scoops of ice cream. I had a few bites. DD ate a little. DS hates chocolate so he got himself his own ice cream sundae. My sister ate a piece herself and boxed up the rest of the cake to take back.. lol. It was a lot of fun.

Our service was great. We never waited too long for food and when we were waiting, there was plenty to look at. This place is loud but that's to be expected. I did walk out of there with a headache.. I think it was due to the changing lights from the ice cave.

I would give it a 7/10. I know we'll return here again... probably not on our next trip though.

The bill would've came to $164.93 without the dining plan.

Hi Kristy! :wave2: I'm late to the party but happy to be here now and all caught up. So sad though that our paths never crossed in December. It looks like you dined at some of the same places as us, just not on the same day. :( Oh, and Linda & her DH attended the Disapalooza event too. It sounds like you all had a great time.

Anyway, just wanted to say that you are doing a great job so far with your photos and commentary. Your Sci Fi photos were especially great...I can actually recognize the food without having to read a description. Sci Fi is a tough one to get good photos so, Bravo!! :thumbsup2

Thank you!!! I've been admiring your photos since you got back as well. What some wonderful weather we hit, huh? Thanks for joining along :)

I had typed up this entire review and then as I was finishing the last sentence my hand slipped and the page changed.. lost everything. So I had a glass of wine last night. Lol...

Round 2... We had a 6:30 reservation for Fulton's. I knew we would end up going earlier. We showed up around 4:45 to Fulton's for dinner.

We checked in and were given a beeper. They told us it might be awhile (even though NO ONE else was checking in at the time or waiting...) We took a seat and waited...

I had been here once before with my DD on our girls only trip. We had a great meal. My dad & I are huge seafood fans so I was hoping this would be a great meal again...

The kids started getting antsy... about 15 minutes after they gave us the beeper, it went off. I think they just were getting sick of listening to the kids goof off.. lol.

We were seated on the first floor right around the corner from where we checked in. We were next to a window so we could look outside. It began getting dark out and we saw the volcano go off at Rainforest Cafe. Very neat. The view out the windows:

We were given the yummy crackers with the crab dip. This stuff is ridiculously good. I could eat this the whole night and be happy. We were given 2 plates of it.. .the kids liked the crackers by themselves of course.

My dad ordered this drink:

I don't recall the name... it was something tropical. It was non alcoholic. I wish I had taken a picture of the beverages on the menu... DS ordered something with mango in it:

I tried a sip and it was luke warm. He seemed to like it though. I was glad I didn't have to drink it. DD got a strawberry daquiri (virgin).. now hers was YUMMY!

Appetizers..
The kids were told that they could order any of the appetizers, including anything off of the adult's menu. Yay! DD ordered the Lobster Corn Dogs - salsa verde, sweet chili aioli $14. She must have remembered that I ordered them on our last trip.

Well, once again, these were amazing! The aioli is fantastic!!! DD really enjoyed them... she was the envy of the rest of us. Here's a picture of her really enjoying it...

DS ordered fresh fruit.

My dad & sister both ordered the New England Clam Chowder - New England style, rich, white clam chowder - loaded with clams $8.

They really enjoyed it. I ordered the Crab Cake - Jumbo lump blue crab, roasted corn maque choux, fried green tomato, remoulade sauce $15.

I thought I was being pretty safe ordering the "crab cake" at the "crab house". It was good. Lots of crab. The tomato underneath gave it a good contrast. The corn was a little blah but I finished the rest of it with no problem.

Entrees..
DS ordered the Fish of the Day - Chef's daily selection grilled with cut corn $10 with french fries instead of the corn. He did not care for this because it was grilled... it had a very potent char flavor to it. Normally I would've loved something like this. It almost tasted like a steak.

DD ordered the Chicken Tenders - grilled or fried, with cut corn $8. She liked these.. almost ate a whole one so that was a good sign. It's your standard chicken tender dish at Disney..

My sister ordered first. We had all talked about wanting lobster here so I knew she would be getting lobster. She simply told the waiter “lobster” and he asked if she wanted the Narragansett to which she replied yup. I knew at that moment that she had no idea what she just ordered... again. Well, when it came to the table, she was surprised that hers didn't look anything like ours.
Narragansett, Rhode Island Lobster - One pound and a quarter lobster, shrimp, scallop, spinach and mushroom stuffing, toasted breadcrumbs $49.

I had that last time and LOVED it. Besides the yummy filling, you still have the claws and tail to enjoy all that lobster meat. My sister said it was “okay”. ???

Dad & I ordered the lobster boil. I can't recall how much it was but I want to say $51 each.

I thought it was great. My dad said the lobster was a little tough. Honestly, I'd probably order the Narragansett if I were to return.
After our entrees, the service seemed to slow down considerably. There was a family that was seated next to us. A younger child (probably 7 or 8 years old) ordered crab legs and she must have been having issues cracking them. Our waiter stood there and cracked all of her crab legs for her (which took about 10 minutes). Had I known this service was offered, I would've ordered crab legs. I hate cracking them!
Eventually he took our plates and brought out the dessert menus. We ordered quickly because we were already at 2 hours for this meal...
Desserts..
My sister got a crème brulee. It was your standard crème brulee.. nothing special so I didn't take a picture. She said it was good.
Dad passed on dessert.
DS ordered a root beer float which came with the bottle of root beer on the side. He loved it.

DD ordered the “Make Your Own Sundae” of course. She loved it...

I got the Key Lime Pie. It was good but not enough crust to cut the sour taste for me... Loved the topping though!

Then our waiter took forever to get the check. I actually stood up and then he brought us over the check... we were there for about 2 ½ hours which is much too long of a meal for us (especially with having the kids there). Everyone was getting antsy.
Overall, I would give Fulton's 6/10. It didn't blow me away this time... the food was good and the atmosphere was nice but the service just ruined it for us.
The meal would've costed us $302.99 without the dining plan! For that amount of money, I think you should be 110% satisfied.

Just a quick service announcement. My Photobucket account gave me the warning that I'm approaching bandwith so I would not be surprised if my pictures go blank soon. Then I have to wait till the end of the month before it resets. Anyone else have any ideas on how to avoid this without upgrading the account? Any other photo sharing sites to use? I'm so sick of this happening all the time... and I haven't even started my trip report yet *yikes!*

You could create a second photobucket account. There is also tinypic.com. Imgur or something like that is popular as well.

Hi Kristy!

We were at Biergarten at the same time! Boo that I didn't know this!!

Loving your reviews. Interesting to see both the kids and adult options on DDxP! We are devout TiW fans ourselves but the Deluxe is certainly a way to try a lot of items!

I'm glad CA Grill lived up to your expectations! It is our favorite restaurant!!

I loved Cape May when I went solo last May. If I'm ever without my DH I will most definitely go again!

It was nice to read a Fulton's review even though you were dissapointed! Its another place to go if I'm ever without my DH.

As for pictures... I use shutterfly.. I don't think its meant to be a photo hosting site but I've never had any issues lol.

I will look into the other two. I think I have about 5 photobucket accounts now.. lol. My picture taking is out of hand!

Oh my gosh! Wish I had known about Biergarten! That would've been great! The DDxP is an experience in itself. I'm not sure I'll do it again... having done it 3 times now, I feel like it's the reason I'm at my highest weight ever.. lol. I will look into Shutterfly :) Thanks!

Your meal at Fulton's looked lovely but it really was a long one wasn't it!! You should be very proud of your kids for being so good :)

Fulton's looks absolutely incredible! I'd love to try it but it looks a bit pricey. Guess I need to start saving!

Sooo... looks as though my bandwith has been reached :( Thankful that this thread has had THAT many views! It will reset when the month ends. I did upload to a new account tonight so expect some new additions to this report coming soon!!! Still have about 3 days worth of food left to post :)

And we're off! We had an 11:30am breakfast reservation for Chef Mickey's. We ended up hitting MK at rope drop and kicking butt so we were out of there by 10:40. We got to the Contemporary and checked in at Chef Mickey's around 11:05ish.

Everyone took a seat to relax while I stood in line for checking in.

We were given a buzzer and told to go get our photos taken.

While waiting for the buzzer to go off DS made himself comfy on this odd looking round seat...

So comfy that he fell off of it and stayed sleeping! Don't worry, he was not hurt at all and didn't even know what had happened until I woke him up. I sat there taking pictures of him and my dad said "get him up!" lol..

It felt like we had been sitting there for awhile so I went up to check and they said that they will not take people earlier than when the reservation is for. I went back to my seat and our buzzer went off. :confused3

We were seated right off of where the buffet is. A great table. The buffet was full of choices. I hear a lot of complaints about this place but we really like it. The food was good and nothing seemed "dirty" there. We had a great meal.

The cheesy potatoes are fantastic!

The kids each had 2 plates.

Then the characters made their way around...

Mickey came over while my son was up at the buffet.

Then Mickey came back around just for DS.

On our way out we saw the tree & wreath for Chef Mickey's

And the giant wreath on our way out...

We returned to MK afterwards and enjoyed there. After some rides in Tomorrowland, we decided to take an ice cream break. We ordered a fruit bar, orange creamsicle & Mickey bar. I didn't take pictures of the other two because they're pretty standard popsicles but the Mickey bar...

This was our very first Mickey bar! It melted fast and we ended up trashing about half of it :( Here's the menu board for the rest of the prices:

Around 4pm, we headed over to the Polynesian.

I found Capt. Cook's and decided we NEEDED a Dole Whip break (yeah, right before 'Ohana.. so smart!) This was our first time at the “Make your own Dole Whip station”. Awesome! I'll be back to this place for sure... I need to perfect my technique with that glorious machine.

About 5 seconds after this photo was taken, DD's Dole Whip took a one way trip to the floor :( Good thing DS knows how to share.

We made our way upstairs and checked into 'Ohana. It was about 4:45pm and the restaurant opens at 5:00. We had a 5:05pm reservation. Everyone took a seat in the waiting area and I went over to the bar to order a Habanero Lime Margarita.

This was wonderful... spicy yet refreshing. I loved it!

It was time for 'Ohana. I knew this would be a major hit with my dad & sister. They had no clue what was about to happen. We were seated shortly after they opened. We had a bit of a view through the windows.

The wonderful pineapple bread was brought out.

The kids chowed down on the bread... asked for 2nds, 3rds and 4ths... the salad was brought out.

Yum, I really enjoyed this. I was warning everyone to take it easy though... the best is yet to come.

The potstickers & wings were a HUGE hit. I really enjoyed the potstickers this time around. I did not try all of the sauces because my sister claimed one of them and she felt like she was coming down with a cold so I didn't want to chance it. I think my dad ate the majority of the wings.

Noodles & veggies. My DD loves the noodles so this was her favorite.

And we're off! Chicken was up first.

I wish I would've taken a picture of my dad & sister when this came to the table. Their eyes just lit up. It was great!

The pork was next & then the steak. The pork seemed a bit dry this time but still really good. The steak was amazing... yet that's the one they give you the least of :( Then the shrimp. Yum!

The aftermath:

Unfortunately at this point, we left. I took the kids and we had to head over to MK for the Christmas Party. My dad & sister stayed to enjoy the ridiculous dessert. I heard afterwards that they just LOVED it (who wouldn't!?) I'm glad I had to miss it... I could not have made it to MK in time for the lighting of the castle if we didn't leave then. I really did not need anymore food at this point.

I would give 'Ohana a 9/10. It was great again. I haven't had a bad meal here... a bit of bad service but not this time. Our waitress was fantastic and always on top of things.

The meal would've costed $193.22 had it been oop. Crazy.
