Finally, it's BOG time!!! I made my reservations at 180 days... 6am (central time) on the DOT and the ONLY available day for Be Our Guest was my +6th day! I got a 4pm time slot... hoping that would be early enough that we could still handle the dessert party later on (yes, if you haven't figured it out yet, this is the day of 4 ADR's!)
We had about a 15 minute wait before we could check in and while we were waiting, I counted 17 people who came up to the podium to ask if there was any way they could get into the restaurant that night without a reservation. They were all turned down . This is THE hottest place in all of WDW.
Honestly, I wasn't expecting much. I just didn't think I would be all that impressed. The photos that I had seen didn't really do anything justice. My dad & sister really had no idea what they were going into. I don't think either of them has ever seen Beauty & the Beast so the whole thing was lost on them. DD & DS were both very excited about this place. They were reaching the overtired stage so they were starting to get a little goofy while waiting...
Once they started taking people in the gates, it was only a few minutes until our buzzer went off. As we walked through the doors, we were greeted by the entire waitstaff applauding. It was a great way to start off this experience. The ballroom blew me away. It IS gorgeous. Disney did a great job with this and it really takes you into the movie.
The chandeliers are BEAUTIFUL and we were seated right underneath the largest one in the middle of the room. Our waiter told us that it was the best table in the house and I believe it. It could not have been more perfect.
As my dad & sister took some time to sit at the table and relax, I took the kids on a little tour of the restaurant before it got really busy.
We had a great waiter. He was very excited about working in this restaurant and you could tell it. It was so nice to have that type of enthusiasm. The famous napkin rose:
The rolls and butter were brought out and the kids loved them. My sister ate quite a few as well.
Appetizers..
My dad ordered the Mussels Provencal - with white wine, tomato, garlic, onion, basil and butter $10.99. He was really excited to just get some mussels! He loved this and could've kept on eating them.
My sister ordered the French Onion Soup - topped with crouton and gruyere cheese $6.99. She loved this. Thought it was great tasting. Sorry for the bad pic but you can see it
I ordered the Assorted Cured Meats and Sausages served with cornichons, pickled onions, and toasted baguette (serves two) $14.99. Even though it's meant for two, I think they let me order it because we were on the deluxe plan. It was okay... there was a lot of weird stuff on there that I didn't care for but I had wanted to try something different and I'm not a mussel fan.
At this point, the Beast made his way out and walked through the restaurant. It happens so fast that I didn't get a picture (I got video though)...
Entrees..
This was easy. We all ordered the same thing... Sauteed Shrimp and Scallops - with seasonal vegetables served in puff pastry with a creamy lobster sauce $22.99. This was good but not as good as I expected it to be. The sauce didn't have the greatest flavor in my opinion. I was expecting something a little more pungent. It seemed to just be blah. The puff pastry didn't blow me away either. It wasn't as light as I was expecting it to be. The shrimp were good but there weren't that many. The scallops were my favorite part of this dish.
DD ordered the Grilled Fish of the Day - with whole grain rice pilaf and seasonal vegetables. She liked this. Even though she likes rice, she substituted it for french fries (who wouldn't, right?) She ate quite a bit of this so that was a good sign.
DS ordered the Grilled Steak (add $2.00) with seasonal vegetables. This also came with fries (I suppose so there were no fights between the siblings.. lol) He LOVED this. This was his favorite meal of the whole trip. The steak was okay in my opinion but I thought his CG steak was much better.
Then the dessert cart came around and everyone had their pick.
Here are the yummies:
The desserts were good. I tried DS's strawberry cupcake and it was okay. Nothing special. I got the grey stuff. I did not like the brownie underneath. It was hard and I'm not a huge fan of chocolate anyways so I just scraped off the top layer. I wish they would just serve the grey stuff (as they were doing in the beginning)... I would've enjoyed that more.
After our meal, we headed to the study to get our picture taken with the Beast. No one was in line so we got to take our time with him.
After we all got our picture taken, I had just the kids stand with him and then just DD. At that point, he took DD and began to waltz with her. He danced with her for at least a minute straight. It was awesome. By that point the line had grown and at the end when they both bowed everyone was applauding. DD was so embarrassed by the attention but she loved it. I thought I had been recording it all and turns out I missed it! Thankfully the lady that was handling my camera kept snapping pics so I had a bunch of those that captured the moment.
This was a great meal. A wonderful ending to our perfect trip. It was nice to experience something new with everyone. It was new for all of us. If we had paid OOP, it would've costed $180.76. That seems a little pricey to me. I'm really surprised this hasn't been bumped up to a 2 credit meal yet. I think it will happen in the future if they add more options to the menu (which I think they desperately need for both lunch & dinner). I give it an 8/10.
