I know that a lot of people love HHI and many people love Vero.

I was looking at taking a spring break trip at some point in the next 3 years to either of these places. I would even be interested in adding on for a once every 2-3 year trip.

I am just curious on how the water is in March?

How is the weather in March?

Things to do outside of the actual resort?

How crowded is it in March?

I think that my DW would love HHI. I am also considering the Sarasota/Bradenton area. We love the Gulf and Siesta!

Any thoughts?

Compare Vero and HHI for a newbie to those places.

Our family enjoys both, but if asked which they love, it would be HHI hands down. You'd want to have a car at both locations. If a car isn't in your plans than go with HHI, you can still manage to get to a number of things by Disney shuttle, Palmetto Dunes transport or by bicycle or walking; jmho I can't imagine VB at all without a car.

And keep in mind that at HHI only the Beach House is ocean front, the villas are located about a mile away on inland waterway, but there are still a good number of villas that offer very nice water views.

On HHI there's many restaurants & shops in close proximity to Disney resort & also some that are an easy walking distance at Shelter Cove Harbor.

DH & I have been to HHI first week of March where temps were mild enough for short sleeved shirts & shorts during day and while we did see people in ocean the water temp felt ice cold to us; I would guess you'll find ocean temps somewhat warmer at VB during March. Also, HHI is known for much gentler surf than VB.

Many, if not most here on the DIS seem to head over to VB before/after WDW vacation. HHI would be at least 5 - 6 hours to WDW and flying into HHI is typically pricey, Savannah is usually better price wise, around 45 minute drive to island.

March at HHI could be difficult if it is Easter week or spring break time. I don't think golf tournaments should be that much of an issue then, if I remember correctly The Heritage is in April. Also, there are many nice places to stay in addition to Disney resort. We find HHI offers more activities both at resort and nearby; but there is definitely enough to keep you occupied for at least a couple days at VB, but maybe more of a driving distance than at HHI.

We have been to both and loved both! We have gone to HHI the past two years for the last week of March. Temperatures varied even throughout the week. Low 80's to low 50's with rain. That didn't bother us at all and we loved both trips - of the two weeks, we only went into the ocean (above the knees) on one of the days. Went to Vero in June - it was very hot, but am guessing that it is nice in March. One thing to consider is that the end of March is Premier Season in Vero and Choice Season for HHI. There is a huge difference in points. I am guessing that is due to the weather.

We found a lot to do outside of both resorts, but you will need a car! Both areas have great restaurants. Vero has a few onsite, while HHI only has quick service meals onsite. We loved the bar at Vero, not one at HHI. I would say this - We have 4 kids, and if I was going to make the trip with my kids, I would choose HHI - unbelievable activities for kids. But, if it was going to be without the kids, I would choose Vero. Although Vero has many activities as well.

I don't think you can go wrong with either resort. Enjoy!!
