Community Leader Apps

Just to let everyone know, I've been working with QA_Caffdawg to try to find out why I never heard back about any of my applications. We have determined that Comcast.net, which is my ISP, does not seem to work with VMK's e-mail.

You do not have to change your primary e-mail association with your Disney account, however. All I did was enter in a Yahoo account that I had floating around, and poof, next test message got an auto reply. First time I've ever heard back from VMK!
Hmmm...Maybe that's why I never get replies from the black hole either. My primary account is associated with Comcast. And unfortunately, I can't change cteddiesgirl to another of my main email accounts since those are associated with my other characters. :(

Although I also have MSN/Hotmail (this one work?) and Yahoo.

ok, well i'm not that big on technology, but i search with google, and my e-mail is aim. is that what you mean??? and if so, does aim work??

You guys have all the luck. VMK Won't even tell me that they aren't accepting applications anymore.

All my applications are going down the drain! And for what cause?

I really want to be a CL, I've tried so hard in applying and I'm a good person, has anyone noted me for being a bad person?? (let me answer that for you so no one lies...) No!!

So why won't VMK even talk to me anymore? It used to be because, since I was under 13, I needed to use my mom's e-mail address. But now that I am 13, neither e-mail address will work...

Little off topic, but: I opened a VMK Help Desk (I've advertised it all over the place) to help other people. Just drop by, its usually where I am anyways.

(Back on topic) What's worse is that my Netscape mail (now AIM mail) has an Auto-Allow list. On my Auto-Allow list is mailman@virtualmagickingdom.com, so there should be no problems.

But if they changed their e-mail addres, then I would have a problem...

TToryk - If you have not received ANY response to ANY message you've ever sent to VMK, I can guarantee you that there is a problem between VMK's e-mail and your e-mail address or Internet Service Provider (such as AOL, gmail, yahoo).

I've had many many e-mail transactions with QA_Caffdawg and hand's down, he's identified it as a problem. We were specifically targeting MY e-mail, which is on comcast.

I've alerted dawg to this thread in the hopes of identifying more of the ISPs that are having compatibility problems with VMK.

I, too, was taking it as a personal affront to me that VMK hated me. I was very wrong. They still are not taking applications, but at least now, using a VMK only e-mail on Yahoo, I am assured that when they next are taking applications, they will at least receive mine.

I should point out that not only was I not receiving e-mails from VMK, VMK had NO RECORD OF ANY COMMUNICATION FROM ME! If you haven't received a reply of some sort, it's because they never received your communications!

Use Yahoo. I don't like Yahoo for beans, but it works for this. When it asks for you e-mail address, enter in your Yahoo address. The address attached to your Disney username does not matter!!!!!!

What is really making me crazy...I have played VMK for over a year and when I fill out the form it says I have not played long enough to become a community leader. UUUH WHAT??? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I understand it now!
Netscape has a junk mail filter which auto-deletes e-mail from unwanted providers, and comcast.net was allowing VMK mails up to not long ago, which is when they stopped e-mailing me back!

A-ha! It all comes together! Thanks!

I had the vmk e-mail in my list, too. It doesn't matter. Comcast does not work with VMK right now. You do not have to change the e-mail account attached to your VMK profile! When you send something in to VMK and it asks for your e-mail address, it does not matter what e-mail address is attached to your Disney username. I have this from QA_Caffdawg directly! I asked the same question and was immediately assured that it doesn't matter.

Having said all that, if you are determined to change the e-mail associated with your VMK name, you have to go to the Disney website. The directions for this are in the VMK Players Guide, which is a sticky on the main board.

Yes, but I edited my post: my AIM mail has an Always Allow list, and mailman@virtualmagickingdom is on it. Just to be sure, though, how do you change the e-mail account attached to your VMK profile?

That's outdated...look up where that used to be.

They keep telling me that it will be posted on the home page when they do. But if some people hear right away and some don't, does that mean the ones they've been saving for months then get to part of whatever number they're allowing to become CL when they open it again?

Who knows?

I asked and VMK gave a nebulous answer about the 'not been long enough' timeframe and didn't answer what are they looking for.

It's just another one of those things that people are going to wonder about favortism with because no clear definables are given to people to work and achieve to get to.

:confused3

The reason they don't post what they are looking for is that whatever "it" is, they want you to have it naturally, and not try to fake it on the application.

I'm sure they are not just looking at "what" you write for your answers but "how" you write it. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that they pull up your log on vmk and check your actions and how you talk with other people in the game.

Are you of the players that block rooms during quest or do you just get your golden Mickey and move quickly away from the spot so other people can get it BEFORE you read the next question?

Or are you one of the people that go in game rooms say like falling chairs and scream "let me in" and "move" while waiting for your turn to play or do you, knowing that you have to wait your way turn, make polite talk or just wait quietly?

Thanks for the tips. My new Yahoo address works. I tested it with a CL application to get the Black Hole's no-CL-acceptance message. Better than getting no response at all.

Anyways, I'm a good person. I own a VMK Help Desk, the ORIGINAL one (if anyone ever tries to copy it, make sure the name under the title is TToryk) and I've never VMK-cursed in my VMK life. I am honest in trades, especailly in my Target store, and I can pick out the liars who walk in to the Target.

In fact, here's something that happened today:

Someone wearing a full Wildcat uniform walks in and says
"I'm poor, can I have that tent for free?"

Coincidentally, it was a 600-credit Tee Pee.

I said "You're not really poor."

"Ok, no, I'm not. But can I get the tent for too chairs?"

I booted him on the spot for lying to me.

Now that is one bad VMK-person. The biggest hint that he was lying to me was the full Wildcat uniform, which he said was given to him by friends. There's another obvious lie.

But my point is that someone who can pick out the deceivers from the truth-tellers is a good quality for CL's. I know a few friends who are good at picking out the lies.

I agree with those behaviors as good examples, cat.

I will say that having info on length of time (generally speaking not to the second), info on providers that don't work mail wise, and possibly some examples of future CL behaviors like you gave would help younger folks.

Most of the time, people can develop into great leaders, but they don't know how if they have no guidelines as to what those specific people consider good leadership qualities.

I can tell from the ill-fated newsletter that I have some different ideas on it that Yavn does, but again, most people have differing opinions on what good leadership is. I dont' want them to spell everything out like we're idiots...just something better than 'follow VMK values' and 'treat each other well' then when you've been on enough, you might get it.

:)

I have received email from VMK before on my comcast account, Not recently though.

Back in December when I was battling them about screwed up golden ears cards codes I got at WDW, I sent them dozens of email about it over 3 months. They never answered any of them, but they did answer a completely different email I sent about not being able to log on one day.

So what does that say; they won't email about the codes but they do answer about not being able to log in.

It's hard to believe that everyone that has ever written then and didn't get an answer is on comcast.

I used to use my mom's Comcast e-mail, because Netsape wouldn't let me, but then, a few months ago, it stopped working. I switched to Yahoo! and so far it has worked.

I think Comcast started junking VMK-mails, so get a Yahoo if it doesn't work.
