After being on the waitlist i got 3 of my 5 nights for Oct. (a Fri, Sat, and Sun). I called and booked those nights and told them i wanted to stay on the waitlist for the other two nights (Wed and Thu). When I got my confirmation yesterday I was booked for those three nights and WED NIGHT. They were supposed to call me and didn't if Wed or Thu came through, and of course I wasn't going to book the wed night only. So I called them this morning to straighten it out and I must say that the CM wasn't all that pleasant. He sort of insinuated that "someone" confirmed that night. And I said that I'm the only one who makes reservations in this house so that did not happen. I guess I was a little disappointed with MS. This is my first time booking a trip home. I hope this isn't common!!!

No it isn't common, but like any big institution, it does happen from time to time.

I think they did the common sense thing to do. if as he was confirming your fri-sun, all of a sudden wed appeared, he proabl felt he was doing you a favor. I would definitely keep it and wait for the thurs night, you still have plenty of time to cancel the wed if thurs does not come through.

Sounds like he did the right thing. I don't know why you canceled the wed, I hope you didn't.

Waitlisting one day at a time os the way to do it, but those days don't always come through in order. You should keep the wed and wait for thurs.

I'd hang on to the Wed, and Fri-Sun reservation for now. My guess is that the waitlist will come through. If it doesn't, I am sure that if you spoke to the right person, there'd be some way to figure it out so you don't have tobounce around.

As far as the MS person, I have spoken to numerous folks over the years, and have generally found them all to be pleasant and polite. Some are better at finagaling the computer than others, and are better at finding you what you want. On the occasions when I have encountered a MS rep that was a tad less than polite or pleasant, I simply cut the conversation short and call back in a little bit. You generally never get the same person twice in a row, so that usually solves the problem. Sometimes, when I speak to the second person, I'll make a comment like "I spoke to "Jim" a little while ago, but he wasn't particularly helpful or pleasant, so I deceided to cut my losses and try again to see if I could get someone more helpful". This accomplishes two things: 1. The MS rep knows you've been a little aggravated, so they really try to help and 2. If the calls are recorded, which I'm sure they are, at least randomly, then there is the chance that a supervisor who reviews the call tape will hear that "Jim" wasn't particularly helpful or pleasant. Hopefully, they then do something, even if it's as simple as mentioning to "Jim" that someone said he wasn't helpful or pleasant.
