Made ressies at Poly and requested the Fiji building after reading on these boards that it is a well kept secret for it being nice and having a great view no matter what side you are on. Since we were planning on the Poly I made the request and now I am getting nervous that I acted to hastily. Any comments from anybody who stayed at the Fiji will be appreciated!

When we stayed at the Poly last summer, we were in Tahiti. After staying there, we decided that Fiji looked to us like the location we'd ask for if staying there again. I really like the location and the garden side view looks really nice. -HM

I never stayed at Fiji, we stayed right in front of Fiji at Tuvalu. We had to walk by Fiji every night in order to get to our resort. One side of Fiji faces where the Marina is (water mice are stored) the other side faces where they hold the Luau . . .

Did you check out the resort map? It's located on the Home Page of the dis boards . . .you can see the location of all the long houses.

The Poly is a BEAUTIFUL resort!

On our trips to WDW in '93 & '00 we were assigned a room in Tahiti (we didn't request it, just got it). We loved it because it was new, fresh and the rooms were big. We liked that we could walk fairly quickly to the T & TC.

So, when I made my reservations for our '01 trip I requested Tahiti. Well, when we checked in we were assigned a room in Fiji. I was a bit upset but didn't have the energy to argue since we'd just driven 16-hours straight from Indiana.

I have to say I was very pleasantly surprise with Fiji. Our room was nice and our view was GREAT! Our 3rd floor balcony overlooked lush vegetation, a small sandy beach with palm trees, the Wedding Pavilion and the monorail.

Plus, it was a hop, skip & a jump to the GCH and the volcano pool.

We are going back this September and I will request Fiji!

I just LOVE the Fiji building. The first time we stayed in the Polynesian we got Fiji. It was very convenient to the Main building and close to the snack bar. When we went last time we got Tokelau and I personally felt it was too much of a walk for me (lazy I guess) We had a third floor marina view because I like to watch the water. If we stay at the Polynesian again I will request Fiji in a heartbeat!

Every longhouse has its hidden surprises and I think Fiji is a great location and you have a good view on either side. The only downside would be it is in the middle of more of the activity and may not be as quiet as some of the other longhouses. It would not bother me because I like to sit and watch the activities of the resort from my patio or balcony. Just remember since it is an older longhouse it does not have a balcony on the second floor.

I have requested Fiji for our July trip. We were there last year and stayed in Aotoerea and I liked that area but think Fiji might be nice for the marina or beach view. I requested Tokelau last year and got Aotoeorea. Maybe this year we will get what building we requested since we are arriving a lot earlier.

We stayed in Figi this past February. It was a great location. We stayed on the marina side 3rd fl. I loved the location. Close to the GCH and the volcano pool. We walked around to the other side of the building as well. THere is a small beach and a great view of the monorail. I found the buidling very peaceful and quiet. THe marina side was a great view. I don't think you will be dissappointed.

We stayed there on the garden side last time and like it quite a bit. It is a 3 to maybe 5 minute walk from the GSH but the walk there is very pleasant with the lush vegitation and tropical music on the walkways. It is very convient to the TTC and is a pieceful location for those who perfer this. We have ask for it again the Dec..smjj

Great Thread! This info is wonderful.
We have requested Fiji for our upcoming trip(even if its only 1 night). After hearing all these great reviews I really hope we get it now. :)

My one stay at the Polynesian was in Fiji, and I don't think I would ever want to stay in another building. Our room was on the third floor corner overlooking the marina, with a sideways view of the Seven Seas Lagoon and the Contemporary (the Water Pageant view was only partially obscured, though we couldn't quite see MK fireworks from the 3rd floor balcony). The GCH was just across the marina area from Fiji - very convenient (close to Captain Cook's). All this from just a garden view room rate.

:)
