Hello all!

I've only been a DIS-er for a short while and have gained so much knowledge from this board. As a thank you for all of the help I have received, I am going to attempt a travel report with food reviews when we come back from our trip. Our family is going to WDW in just 11 short days and staying at the ASMu. :goodvibes

It all started out on a whim. Some people I knew were taking advantage of the 4/3 deal. The more they talked, the more jealous I got. I started playing with the figures and managed to win my DH over. :cool1: This is our first REAL vacation since my daughter was born nearly 4 years ago! It's time for us to get down and have some fun! This is the first time we have been on the DDP

The Cast:

Me - Elizabeth (28) - I'm the wife and mom. :) My first trip to The World was when I was 7 years old. Unfortunately, I don't remember much other than the Nickelodeon that used to be there. There are no pictures of the blessed trip because they got lost along the way. My mom is still mad about that. LOL! My dh and I first stayed on campus when my friend was doing his college internship there (I was in college and unwed at the time). We stayed at POR and had a fabulous time! The next time we went was in 2004 when I was pregnant with my dd. :thumbsup2 Oh yeah, and I always choke up when we come through the front gates and walk down Main Street. :joker: I'm sure I will be a mess when I take my dd through there. I love food and trying new things. I don't like eating wierd animals, but I'm game for almost anything else!

DH - Jim (39) - He's the husband and the dad. :) His first trip was as a baby in 1971! That's right, his family drove all the way from MA to FL to go to the Mouse House. Cool, right?! His family doesn't *get* Disney and all of it's wonder. :confused3 Really. He grew up going atleast once a year and now has a full appreciation for the World and all of it's magic. ::yes:: We joking call my dh "Hoover." He can and will eat almost anything...even if he doesn't enjoy it. :rolleyes2

DD - Roo (3.99999) - She's the daughter and sister. :) This is her first trip to WDW and her first REAL vacation! She loves princesses and pooh and all things Playhouse Disney. She's my picky eater and enjoys mostly "kid" food. Hotdogs, nuggets, pizza, you got it....I'd PAY this kid to eat her veggies. :guilty:

DS - Mac (11 months) - He's the son and the brother. :) This is also his first trip to WDW and his first real vacation! He loves hanging out with the family, pulling his sister's hair and eating random things found on the floor. :lmao: This kid is small but he can pack it away with the best of them! He could definately eat his sister under the table. :thumbsup2

Now, onto our plans!

I'm pretty much the master planner. I like to plan everything about the meals and tickets and all that jazz. My family is just along for the ride. My planning style is to have a basic outline and to go with the flow. Since we have kids along, this will be a much more laid back trip and we usually do. I am planning on mostly half days at the parks or going back after dinner.

We are arriving in Orlando mid-morning on 2/9/09. We will stop by ASMu and drop our stuff off and hit the road. Our days will look like this...

Cannot wait to read all about it! The only meal that I would change is 1900 PF dinner. We ate there last week and it was horrible, the food was just so bad that DH and I looked at each other and said, are you kidding me? We paid $150 for this garbage? Even the 2 kiddos, 6 and 12.5 thought the food was really bad. Character interaction was fantastic but we were still hungry when we left! Tons of pics and review in my January link.

Loved your post. You sound just like my mom who is a very funny lady. I agree with the changing of 1900 PF. What about Ohana's for dinner. It is a family style and the food is good. They bring the food to your table on skewers (turkey, beef, shrimp, pork) and it's all you can eat. My guys love it there. Your little one will be able to join in with the festivities.:thumbsup2 My DS13 wanted nothing to do with it so not sure if your's will. But then again you never know. Have a great trip.pixiedust:

Really? You all think I should cancel 1900 Park Fare? Man. I'm not sure. My dd loves the Princesses and I thought she would love it. I've also wanted to check out the GF. ;)

Thanks for the thoughts...I'll be pondering this. :)

Go to the Princess Breakfast in Norway instead....so much better!

I thought Akershus looked icky. It's good? Crap! Now I need to re-examine our schedule.

Thanks for making me more confused! :lmao:

I'm already packing the kids. Is that sick?

I honestly sit here and look at our itenerary all day. Dh thinks I'm waiting on it to talk back to me. LOL!

What about Crystal Palace? I was hemming and hawing over it. It seems like breaky is a safe bet just about anywhere in the world but maybe I should do a special dinner for my family since it is valentine's day. Would Ohana be good for this?

CP is the best! We did breakfast there last week and it was awesome, the kids loved it. I have pics of the CP and Princess breakfast in my Jan link

LOL! I already checked your stuff out Nikki! I will look again.

Ok, Akershus is booked for break. I remember why I thought it looked ick. I was looking at Dinner because my dd is inlove with Ariel (she's only at dinner). I decided to cancel because we don't love the food and dd would be none the wiser.

I just got a rez for Kona Cafe on 2/14 for dinner. How is that for kids?

My boys (10 & 11 at the time) loved Kona Cafe for dinner. That was our very first dinner of our vacation. Make sure if the kids get dessert, they get the Kona Kone. They will totally enjoy it.

See - you guys ROCK! Really.

I've revised our plan to eliminate 1900 Park Fare. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get breaky at Akershus...but we will definately try for it next trip! :thumbsup2

Hope you had a great trip! Can't wait for the reviews!

Everything looks great on your list! Can't wait for the reviews. Maybe if you want to catch Ariel at a meal you could do CRT at breakfast or lunch? I know she is there. The only characters you get at dinner are the Fairy Godmother (of which you don't actually get to "meet") and Perla and Marie (the mice from Cinderella).

I know we are doing the breakfast because I have never met Ariel yet. I know it is a longshot to get her at any meal because she is not there, but lots more characters at the breakfast and lunch at CRT.
