Hollywood Brown Derby


She said, "We were sat quickly which was a relief given two years ago we waited for over an hour! No sign photos as it was pouring with rain when we arrived."





"I started with a martini flight. DH had a cocktail but we failed to photograph it."






"Bread and butter..."








"Appetisers - I had the Artisan cheeses..."




"I was unable to have a Brie because it contained mushrooms, so only had three of the cheeses. They were very nice but the accompaniments were disappointing, for example the apple slices were tasteless and the crispbreads weren't all particularly crisp. Narcoossee's could teach them a thing or two!"



"DH had the Cobb salad - it was great."




"Entrees - I had chicken, DH had Duck two ways and DD had salmon but with sides of plain mash and broccoli. These were all excellent."














"Desserts - DH had chocolate three ways and I had the grapefruit cake with a champagne flight. Only the actual champagne was any good, but I do love little glasses."













"We both had an espresso and DD retained her Queen of Hot Tea crown!"









"Although we had many good dishes, this doesn't feel very 'signature', not helped by the thumping MU homecoming just outside! (Don't get me wrong - we went and enjoyed this afterwards!)"

"We've just found out the Cali Grill is opening the day AFTER we leave , so that'll be on our list way before the Brown Derby on our next visit."​

"We started with the breads, olive oil, and olives, which was all good."


"Jill of course started with the fruit salad."



"This was her favorite so far since there was no pineapple or honeydew in it."

"Baked zucchini in red sauce with mozzarella. This was amazing. I could have eaten two servings and not had a main course."



"For her dinner, Jill had the spaghetti and meatballs..."



"She didn't like the meatballs but she is not a huge meat eater to begin with. She loved the pasta and sauce though."



"I had the fettuccine vecchia Roma..."



"I thought it was just ok and a huge portion. I'm not sure I even ate half of it."



"I was too full for dessert but Jill got the Kids sundae..."



"I did steal a bite. The whipped cream was so good." ​

She said, "On Wednesday our breakfast plans changed since we didn't feel like getting up early and going to the Dolphin hotel to eat at Fresh. Instead we went to the..."

"We had a craving for fried chicken but the option on the menu is too large so went with the kids version. It was the perfect size with a leg, a thigh and a scoop of mashed potatoes. We also ordered a side of green beans."



"The green beans were a little garlicky, which I liked. Perhaps a bit limp but I'm sure they are not cooked to order so that is to be expected."


"For dessert we split a hot fudge sundae. I ate the whip cream and some of the fudge while Em enjoyed the ice cream."




"It was sooo good. Why did it disappear so quickly?"

Hi Barb,

We are going back to the world in October (8th to 29th) and I would be glad to contribute / report again since I love this thread so much.

We have many ADRs planned and about 15 food and wine events reserved plus the Swan/Dolphin food classic. I don't know if I will be able to report from all the signature F&W diners (don't want to disturb the tablemates!) but I'll do my best !

"She said, "This is the second to last dining report from me, as we are leaving today. But we have a few hours before Magical Express so we are in the MK. We had lunch at..."

"We got the lobster roll, chicken nugget meal, fried shrimp platter, kids tuna, and a side of couscous."



















Drinks...I got water from the fountain (free), kids got soft drinks and hubby got lemonade slush. He really liked the slushie."

Pilgrims' Feast - traditional roast turkey with herb bread stuffing, mashed potatoes and green beans





"Kids turkey (mini version of the adult)."


"The turkey was a huge hit, especially with my sons!"




"Kids Chicken BBQ and Pineapple Pizza."


"DD ate about half before she decided she didn't like the BBQ sauce."






The Liberty Boys BLT - slow roasted pork, fresh greens and tomatoes on House-made Bread with caramelized shallots and mushroom-mayonnaise spread


"DH said to make sure the thread knew this was really good. The greens made the sandwich so crispy and fresh."






Angus Chuck Cheeseburger topped with bacon and cheddar and served with tavern fries


"DSis and grandma split this since we remembered it was huge."





Kids Mac 'n Cheese

"DBro ate every morsel."

She said, "At Be Our Guest right now - I almost cried when we walked into the ballroom. We are seated in the west wing though."

"Kids meatloaf shaped like Mickey, with zucchini chips, broccoli, and carrot dipping sauce."

"Kids steak - DD loved this, two thin pieces with fries and green beans. I ate the fries and they were really good!"





"I got the pork with sides of mac and cheese and green beans."


"I was sadly disappointed in this. The pork was large but rubbery and tasteless and the sauce was too thin to help. The mac and cheese was ok, but nothing special. So sad!"






"Bad picture, but this is the French onion soup, which was delicious. The gruyere cheese made this, and it was not too salty."






"Strawberry cheesecake cupcake - well loved."





"Lemon meringue cupcake - thumbs up from DH."

On Wednesday night, she and Em had dinner at Epcot's...





"We were seated at a table near the windows facing WS lagoon and our server, Nicolaus, was exceptional."

"Em selected the potato crusted snapper and declared it excellent!"






"I had the beef tenderloin, which was served with a side of truffle mash potatoes. The filet was huge!! It was topped with a mushroom crust that was delicious. I loved this meal!!!"

"Some people may remember Phillipe, the Manager of the French restaurants, that brought me a glass of champagne after an issue that we experienced while dining there in Feb. Phillipe remembered me and not only sent a champagne drink to the table..."





"But he also sent this lovely meringue and raspberry dessert."




"It was an amazing end to our meal."



"We even posed for a photo with Phillipe."

She said, "We had a case of the lazy's and decided to sleep in and cancel our Captain's Grille ADR."


"We hit up the CL lounge before they closed. There were similar choices as yesterday...they just changed the danish/pastry choices today."

"One small change that I noticed from our stay at YC club level in February is the absence of a sprig of dill on the hard boiled eggs. Perhaps that's for the best since there's no danger of having a stray piece of dill pepper in smiles!"

"I had the oatmeal, fresh melon, and a bagel. Em had a bagel, fruit loops, and a banana with hot tea."

Ellen said, "Last night I had the honor of being invited to 1901, the private club in California Adventure which is an adjunct to Club 33. WOW!! SOOOOO COOL!!!!"

"Chilled watermelon skewers with mango sorbet (VERY refreshing!)..."





"Queso Fundido- melted Monterey Jack cheese, ranchero sauce & crisp tortillas..."






"And "Cala" rita flatbread- summer tomatoes, smoked bacon, basil & redwood farms cheddar. All yummy!"






"I had a Carthay Martini, (Hendricks Gin) served with a spherical ice cube. What makes this cube so special is that there is no air in the block of ice that they begin with - it is placed into the metal mold (which is not powered by anything) and the metal melts away at the block until Voila! A perfect and amazing sphere of ice that melts very, very slowly in your drink. This was developed in China by a scotch producer, and should be seen more in the future elsewhere- but for now, it's pretty special at 1901, just like everything else in the bar is."















"Isn't it amazing?????? And those olives were insane!! Blue cheese truffle olives- crazy delicious!"
