Now looking to the future, I have decided to extend the thread through November. I will not however be taking live updates during the month of December. But I do have something else in mind, so the live thread should remain fairly active during this time. ;) As of now, I'm thinking that this will conclude my hosting of this thread. However, that's four months or so away and therefore it's possible that I could change my mind by then. :upsidedow

So now it's time to bring out the cheerleaders...

Thanks everyone! :goodvibes Your continued support (both by volunteering and posting feedback on the thread) is what keeps me going.

Mindy2k3 and I(madmom1030) are travelling together October 10-18 and can send in live reports while we are in WDW.:yay:

Hi Barb!

I have read his thread since it's beginning and although we have been to Disney many times, this thread has really shown us some new places we may not have tried before. I would love to return the favor and join the October team. We will be staying in WDW at Old Key West from October 4-13. It will be myself, my DH, DS (11 on 10/4), DD 7, DMIL and DFIL. We have TIW and have lots of ADRs lined up....although I keep changing things around! We also have Premium Annual Passes so we will be visiting Disney Quest and the Water Parks as well as MNSSHP and F&W. I'm really looking forward to reporting!
Thanks,
Jen :)

For those who are considering being a reporter, read on.

I was a little concerned about feeling weird taking pictures of our dining choices. That lasted about 60 seconds!

Counter service, signatures, snacks, etc. It was definitely fun. And no one seemed to care a bit about my snapping photos.

The only problem? When my sister and I were starving or having a glass of wine, we'd sometimes forget! :goodvibes

When I return from vacation, I never seem to get around to that full blown dining report I'd like to do, so this is the next best thing!

I love this thread and appreciate all the hard work that Barb puts into it.
It makes my day.

A little Disney, a lot of food photos... It's the next best thing to being there!

--pennyplanner

P.S. To the many who've had a well-paced, delicious dining experience at Artist Point lately, lucky you! I am hoping our dried out dinners and politely voiced displeasure were the reminders the manager, kitchen and waitstaff needed to pay attention to the fine dining experience that WDW vacationers pay dearly for.

I'll be there Nov 17 - 23 and would love to participate :)

Welcome to the October and November Live Reporting Teams!!! October team members should expect to receive a PM from me about a month from now, November team would be in late October. This PM should give you all the info you will need to send me your updates.

Thank you to all of you for volunteering! :goodvibes

Thank you so much for posting this, pennyplanner! I should have you head up my recruitment department. ;)

Just a few more updates left to post from Tuesday, including a couple from Brenda (emmysmommy).

First one is of the afternoon snacks which were available on Monday in the Animal Kingdom Lodge's CL Lounge...

Kilimanjaro Club

"Fresh baked cookies."

"Granola bars - more like cookie bars with fruit and nuts."

"Chips and gummy candy."

"I didn't eat anything but it was good to drool over it." ;)

5 August Game Points Earned

Brenda also sent us an update from her dinner on Monday at the...

Grand Floridian Cafe

"No menu pics but the menu is similar to last summer with some seasonal updates to the salads and some other apps."

"We were started with the rolls, I chose the plain old crusty dinner roll."

"For my selection I chose the shrimp cocktail and market salad."

"The shrimp appetizer had changed from last year and is now presented on diced tomatoes and dressed with a verde sauce that I wasn't liking. I asked ahead of time for a side of cocktail sauce that was delivered with the shrimp. It was gringo style...weak & no kick!" ;)

"The apps were brought out and apparently there was a mix up which resulted in me sending back my own salad. Since service was sloooow we didn't get this corrected so Em allowed me to share her salad."

"The salad had arugula, bleu cheese, yellow & red heirloom tomatoes with a balsamic fig dressing. It was delicious."

"For her main Em ordered the Grand Floridian burger with lobster on a brioche bun."

"It was huge. It was served with house-made chips. Em loved the burger but was less enthused with the chips."

"Dessert was better even though service was so slow I wondered if we would miss out on Extra Magic Hours! Em chose the chocolate fondue that was served with fruit and marshmallows. This was a hit!"

"I split the dessert sampler which had key lime cheesecake (yum), lemon cheesecake (very good), fruit tart (it looked lovely), a Boston cream pie (tooo chocolatey) and a solid chocolate Mickey that arrived on the plate standing front and center."

"Overall a lovely meal despite some service deficits."

My friend and I are arriving on October 28th and departing on November 5th. We are on the deluxe dining plan so will have lots of table service meals and a variety of snacks to share with everyone. We would love to send in updates for the live thread especially since I have used this thread to get him even more excited about our trip. :)

Our last update sent on Tuesday was from Anne (scanne). She and her family had dinner that night at the Wilderness Lodge's...

Roaring Fork

She said, "Late dinner from Roaring Fork..."

Kids Hamburger Meal

Kids Pizza

Hamburger Platter

Cookies

Carrots

"In all honesty, both my DH and I don't care too much for Roaring Fork. Choices are limited and service is slow. Out of the deluxe resorts we have stayed at, Mara at AKL is by far the best deluxe quick service. Polynesian comes in 2nd followed by the GF then WL. We haven't stayed at Boardwalk or Contemporary. Beach Club's is pretty low ranking as well. We do love the food court at POR! Awesome! But Roaring Fork was our only choice tonight. Tomorrow we will be in Epcot...I have a reservation at Via Napoli, not sure it we will keep it ...but perhaps." :confused3

Well said!
This is a truly awesome thread and it really does put a smile on my face every day :)
Thanks to all the live reporters and thanks as always Barb

Hi there

Sent you a PM about being a reporter again in September (21-29). Details of the trip are in my PM, let me know if you have a need for those dates :)

Another long time lurker, just chiming in to say thank you to Everyone that makes this thread continue! It is a window that stays so I can check constantly! We have trips coming up and it always helps me get my fix until I get there. I would volunteer to help, but we only have dumb phones and no way to get live updates to Barb. :( Maybe someday. . . . Thanks again everyone, with that extra thank you to Barb for all the work it takes to keep us all drooling!
