Just wanted to stop by to say I am still in for posting from DL 8/21-26! I have 3 back up batteries for my iphone so I should be in better shape than usual, lol-

VERY excited- I will even be going to 1901 and Club 33!

Leaving on Tuesday for San Fran followed by Yosemite pre- DL. Disney is going to be the relaxing part of our vacation...

I'm a September volunteer. Made a few changes to our plans.

We will now do a character breakfast at TH instead of Cape May. And changed a dinner from Kona to The Wave.

Okay- I am back on the saddle today! Sorry, was MIA yesterday due to a busy day with my family!

Let's start with Rosemary (pennyplanner). She wasn't done with her updates and sent us another update from home on Thursday!


"My sister and I planned to go to Raglan Road, but an impending storm changed all that! We hopped on the monorail and ended up at Mizner's which the bar and lounge at the Grand Floridian.

I couldn't find anything with the bar name on it, but I loved the drink/snack menu cover design!

The food offerings side..



Our wine and a small bowl of mixed nuts that is brought to every table.



Berkshire Pork Belly with Creamed Corn.
Seem familiar?
Looking at the menu, it is clear that the food is made by Citrico's kitchen. My sister opted for the same delicious appetizer she had during our previous dinner there. It did not disappoint!



Charcuterie
I opted for the cured meats platter. The portion was a little less generous than my appetizer during our Citrico's dinner, but equally if not better tasting. Last time I didn't enjoy the duck (small jar). This time, it was rich in flavor and texture. I thoroughly enjoyed it. In a word, YUM!



Crisp Flatbread
Well, this wasn't crisp, but it was good. The cheese was a mixture of Gruyere, provolone, fontina, and asiago. It was topped with finely chopped olives and a light tomato sauce and fresh basil leaves. I liked this flatbread, although the cheeses were a true blend. I really couldn't differentiate one from the other. The olives were mild, no too briny. For me, the tastes worked. My sister was less impressed. Her pronouncement was that it was a so-so dish.



Gelato Trio
This wasn't on the lounge menu, but our server said, "No problem."
Flavors were cappuccino, raspberry, and vanilla bean. An appealing presentation and a perfect portion!



Tropical Fruit Creme Brûlée w/ Berries and Mango
WOW, this was exceptionally good! It was a very generous bowl of luscious tropical flavored custard. The mango and berries added texture to the silky custard. The dark chocolate dipped biscotti seemed an after thought. i took it home for later. A clear winner for me!

The fresh orchid arrangement in the 2nd floor ladies room of the Grand Floridian. Just lovely. Certainly a touch of class for a bathroom!



Overall Rating: 5 stars!
This was a relaxing "snacking" experience. Mizner's is lively without the frantic feel of a bar like the Polynesian's lounge. A huge bonus is the live music at the Grand Floridian. The orchestra is located right outside the front of the bar. The music is amazing. One of the sets was all Sinatra. A great way to enjoy good wine and good food while sitting out a summer storm!"


Best news is that Rosemary said she isn't finished! She will send us another update as soon as she can.

Our first update of the day from Friday August 9th came from JintyB (Jeanette) sent at 5:50am! She is still getting used to the time difference! Wonder if anyone else can beat the 5:50am first updates?

"We were lucky enough to fly Club class so food and drink on the plane was delicious and plentiful!"









She finally arrived in WDW after a long trek!

"A welcome sight and our room at the Wilderness Lodge was upgraded to a courtyard/lake view!"







"Despite the time difference we hopped on a boat over to the Poly to watch Wishes.."



"And FINALLY grabbed some Disney food at Roaring Forks:"

"Angus cheeseburger (without bacon). DD wolfed this down and said it was great"



"DH and I both had the Chef's special flatbread- steak and cheese. Hot and tasty!"



FYI- don't look at this thread when it is 2pm and you still haven't had breakfast or lunch.

Thanks for the review of Mizner's. I've always been interested in trying that Torte from Citrico's. This seems like an easy, relaxing way to do it.

We also had a new reporter check in yesterday: CMWannabe; my fellow Ohioan!

"We checked in yesterday at AOA and had lunch of LOF. I had the caprese. It was yummy!



My hubby had the surf and surf.





It was just ok!

My MIL also had the surf and surf.



My BIL had the meatball sub- it was nothing special.



BIL GF had the create your own pasta, she said it was awesome. Lots of choices!"



Then they made a trip to Epcot!

"CMWannabe(me) with processco in Italy!! We attempted to drink around the world, but only made it about half way."

"Dinner tonight at BOG in the forbidden wing!! Two pork chops and three steaks. Everyone wanted to lick their plates!"

"Dessert was amazing. Grey stuff was divine and I agree it tastes like Oreo mousse. The last pic is the inside of my triple chocolate cupcake. I wanted to lick the wrapper!!!"

I didn't even know it was possible for people to wake up this early but JintyB sent her first update today at 5:28am Orlando time! Definitely the first update of the day.

The food was really fresh and set us up for the day. Character interaction was fab- see Pooh photo bombing below (lol side note from me- this made me giggle out loud). He was very pleased with that!"

"She couldn't give this a rave enough review, declaring it the best meal she's ever eaten!"

"I had the banana split but subbed raspberry sorbet for the strawberry ice cream. This was so nice I actually ate most of it!"



"DD had the chocolate brownie and whilst she only had a few mouthfuls, this further confirmed her view that this was the best meal she'd ever had!"



"We wouldn't hesitate to come back here, great food and excellent service!"

"We popped back to the Wilderness Lodge to meet our friends who were due to arrive, also from the UK"

"Quick drink at the Trout Pass Bar- Red Stag Lemonade. Really refreshing and strong!"



Then, they went back to MK to eat dinner at...

"Parmesan bread- disappeared in moments but I don't remember what anyone had to say about it!"



"Calamari- the olive stuff really lifted this!"



"Zucchini fries- breading was tasty!"



"Bread and oil- undercooked and tasteless"



Entrees:

"Spaghetti with meatballs- a big hit with our daughters but the portion was huge!!"



"Grilled pork tenderloin- delicious and a good sized portion"

"And I took the suggestion from this thread and had the chicken parmigiana with the alfredo sauce- inspired! Creamy, cheesey, chickenly heaven!!"



YUM! I want to do this!!

Cheesecake- coconut and pineapple, very subtle in flavor. Presented beautifully with the Lady and Tramp in chocolate!

And finally, the pistachio creme brulee! so good I could have licked the plate!



Our server was so friendly and helpful. He even popped out to the alley to get a couple of autographs!"

"Our 2nd day at Universal Studios. We stopped for snacks. DH had a chocolate peanut butter cupcake."



"I had the vanilla bean cupcake. These weren't as good as any we've had at Disney. The cake part was heavy and dense"



Their lunch was at Richter's Burger.

"We both had the chicken burger which comes plain and then you add toppings from the toppings bar"

"Snack from Harry Potter world. Bertie Bott's every flavour beans. The ear wax ones are particularly disgusting!" AGREE!!!

"Mojitos from Bongos at DTD. Really good mojitos with live latin music, a great start to the evening"

"What I was (waiting?) for...Ger's Bread and Butter Pudding! Delicious but I barely made a dent in this as I was so full from the other courses. This would have made a meal in itself!"

"Today's lunch was at Boardwalk Bakery. The ordering process was a bit confusing, but chocolate is worth it"



"MIL had the lobster roll and a mickey cupcake. The roll was good, the cupcake moist and delicious"



"I had the fresh mozzerella. The dressing was a bit zesty but was very good on a hot day"



"Hubby had the lobster roll(good) and he key lime tart. He said the cupcake was a better choice. I had the salted caramel. There was a surprising orange flavor to the caramel, but overall excellent!"
