Dining Review - April 2nd


Susan said, "For Breakfast we ate at Sunshine Seasons. DH, DS and I shared the bounty platter. Which we scarfed down and I didn’t get a photo. But DD had a cinnamon roll..."

...which she enjoyed. Sometimes these can be dry, but this one was really good."





"For lunch, the kids had nachos at the QS in Mexico. I was off getting something for DH and I, so I was late getting photos."

"DH and I shared the Shrimp and Grits from the Florida Fresh booth at F&G festival..."

"This was really good. It was hot and had a lot of flavor. We really enjoyed this."




"Later, we stopped by the Smokehouse booth in the America Pavilion and had some brisket..."

"This was really good. Some people have been complaining about this being too much fat, but ours wasn’t fatty at all and the cornbread had a good kick to it. Very yummy."




"And I had to stop at the booth in France and get a PINK Grey Goose Slushie."

"For dinner we had..."

"Here they serve the Pilgrim’s Feast all you can eat.

Rolls, salad, pork, turkey, tenderloin, stuffing, green beans, potatoes, mac and cheese, veggies and apple-craisan cake with ice cream."

"This was OK. The kids ate well and that made us happy. I would go back for the kids, but I prefer the lunch here better. We left full and satisfied."​

Ok, I am really going to try to do this! It probably would only be the long weekend, late Friday the 6th thru Tuesday the 10th. Very nervous at the thought of traveling alone but I want to try to make it happen.

It's time for some updates, starting with one from HoneyBeeM.

They had breakfast this morning at...

"The cinnamon bun was warm and flaky."

"We had oatmeal and a yogurt parfait. Both were very good. They now have an option to get a large oatmeal with toppings or a small serving without."




Then they had lunch today at...

Pork Egg Rolls with Chili Plum Dipping Sauce


"We started with the pork egg rolls and chili sauce. These were great - not too spicy and not greasy at all. The pork was delicious."

Vegetable Lo Mein with lo mein noodles, carrots, cabbage, and green onions



"Entree was the veggie lo mein, minus bean sprouts. My mom and I were so pleased with this portion size! We split it and it was more than enough for two."

Fried Wontons - Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons with honey vanilla drizzle and served with vanilla ice cream


"Finished off with the fried wontons. These were AMAZING. If I dreamed about food, I would dream about this dessert. The server actually told us it was voted Best Dessert by MSN recently!"

Next we have some updates from PirateRachel.


They had dinner last night at...

She said, "It has been several years since we have eaten here and I remember not loving it but only liking it. Luckily it was really good tonight."

"The bread tasted like homemade yeast rolls and the butter was maple butter. Both were so good."

"Salad was good and crisp with ranch dressing. It could have used more dressing but it was fresh and light."

"The platter was nice and hot. The steak was too raw for me but Jon enjoyed it. I got some more steak for Josh and I and he actually ate it! The potatoes were smooth and creamy. The fish was just ok. Jon liked it and ate the most of it."

"Mickey visits Josh."

"Kaiti ate mostly from the Children's Platter. Josh wouldn't touch it. Heaven forbid he should eat a vegetable. Kaiti especially liked the sweet potato fries. I tried one, they are good, sweet and salty."

"Josh got a piece of birthday cake and we had the berry cobbler. It was nice and hot and buttery tasting, it was very good."

"Overall we had a good meal. It took almost two hours. Dale had skipped us and we had a heck of a wait for him! It was Chip and Dale's birthday yesterday!"

"I forgot the cupcake donuts [Kids dessert]. They were strange y'all! The frosting was good though."







Kringla Bakeri og Cafe

"Later we ate some lefse. I love this stuff. I tried making it homemade, that was a nightmare. Flour went everywhere! This lefse has butter and cinnamon on it. My husband's grandpa used to say eating lefse was like chewing an old dish rag...so funny!" ​

Sunshine Seasons


"We first ran to Soarin' and rode it and then got fast passes. While waiting for our passes to come due, we ate breakfast at Sunshine Seasons."

"Jon and Josh shared the Big Breakfast Platter. They enjoyed it, the food was hot and fresh. Josh ate the sausage and French toast and Jon finished off the rest."

"I had the Breakfast Panini. It was eggs, cheese, limpy bacon and roasted turkey. This was pretty good. I tasted the turkey separately and it had a nice roasted flavor. The potatoes had a hint of spiciness, they were fine."




"When we went to use our fast passes the stand by for Soarin' was 160 minutes, now that is wild!"

I am so behind on this thread. It's almost the end of my first semester of nursing school and I am definitely feeling it. I've looked through the last couple of days and just wanted to say thanks to all the live reporters and again to Barb for doing this. Just browsing through the pics gives me a bit of stress relief when I am taking a study break

Then for lunch, PirateRachel & family snacked around World Showcase.

"First stop was...

"...for some shrimp and grits. I thought it was good but spicy spicy!! We all had a taste except picky boy Josh."




"Next stop was the kiosk in Mexico...

"...where we tried the Crab Tostada..."

"...and the Pork Taco."


"These were both good. I thought the crab tostada would have been hot but it was cold. The pork taco was good and plenty to split for a bite to share."

"Kaiti and Josh eating ice cream in Norway."





Then on to China's...

"Kaiti and I split the Strawberry Oolong Tea Slushy. I was getting hot so this cooled me down. It tasted like strawberry tea. I didn't realize she was covering the whole cup, but it looks like a strawberry slushy."




Also from China F & G kiosk...

"Kaiti and I split the Candied Strawberries. They were good and sweet, like a candy apple only with strawberries. Crunchy and mushy all in one!"

"We all shared the Spring Pancake with Chicken and Green Apple. I couldn't really taste the apple though. I thought it was cucumber to tell you the truth, until I reread the menu but it had a great texture and was tasty."



"Then one last snack before we left Epcot from Italy's kiosk..."

"It's the Lobster Asparagus dish. I loved it, Kaiti said it was ok."


"My only complaint about the food kiosks was the lack of seating. I'm not a fan of eating off the top of a trash can. Yuck! I felt like Oscar the Grouch!"​

"Our reservation was for 4:50. I checked in at 4:30 and we were seated shortly after. This was the first time I've seen them sing at opening. We have eaten here quite a few times and in 2009 I was ready to say I'm done with this place."

"I liked the bread and loved the butter!! I enjoyed the salad and liked the dressing. Believe me it was dripping in dressing and fruit under all that lettuce."

"Kaiti loved the pot stickers. I thought they were just ok, but loved the wings."

"The shrimp was piping hot and very good, spiced just right."

"The chicken was moist and delicious."

"I really like the steak, very tender and juicy. Yummy! Kaiti liked the steak and chicken too. Jon's favorite was the steak."



"We had a great server and I forgot his name. He brought us some well done meat for Josh, which he ate. When we came back to the hotel early due to thunderstorms, he grabbed a bag of goldfish crackers though...GRRR!"

"Noodles were fine and broccoli was good. We didn't eat much of that plate."

"Yay, Josh got ice cream! He loves vanilla, which is crazy because whenever we go out for ice cream we have a rule that no one orders vanilla!"

"Someone naughty dug into out dessert before I got a picture! It was very tasty bread pudding with the banana fosters cream. Yummy, yummy! I could only eat two bites after meat fest 2013!"

"It was storming when we came back to the Wilderness Lodge. We were on the boat when lightening was striking...umm, yikes, not a fan of that! The captain said this is the last boat due to storms, hail, tornados, etc. Scary!"

"We slept in today and we had an ADR for breakfast at the Wave. The kids didn’t want to go and no one was mad about that !! So DH and I went alone and enjoyed the buffet there."

"My plate..."

"Sausage, Danish, biscuits and gravy, potatoes and eggs. All very good."





"DH’s plate..."

"Eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, sausage and bacon."


"We enjoyed our breakfast very much and would go back for sure."





Contempo Cafe

"On the way back, we picked up some quick service at Contempo Café for the kids."





"DD got a cheese flatbread..."

"DH got a burger..."

"Just your basic quick service stuff, but DD really enjoyed the flatbread."






"For dinner we went to the Magic Kingdom's..."

"DS got another burger..."

"DD got chicken nuggets and french fries..."

"DH and I shared the meatloaf..."

"It was all pretty good. The kids really liked the fries. If I went again, I would order something besides the meatloaf. It was OK. But I wasn’t crazy about the gravy they had all over everything."

This update is from a new reporter who arrived at Disney World today, mommakacie.


Kacie said, "Hi Barb - Here's a summary of our day. We arrived around 1:30 today, so we had a small lunch at Sunshine Seasons and dinner was at Cape May."

Sunshine Seasons

"I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad and my husband ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna with Noodles, but after he realized it was chilled and not warm (noodles, too), he decided he wouldn't be able to eat it. So, we traded. I thought it was good. I would have preferred the noodles warm, but I had no problem eating them cool. The tuna was good and very spicy. I did have a few bites of the salad since that's what I was hoping for originally. I thought it was really good."

"I also grabbed a strawberry shortcake since I'd seen so many yummy pictures of this thing. I was a tad disappointed. It was yummy, but some of the strawberries were a bit sour. I'm not a very picky person, and know that sometimes you win and sometimes you lose on strawberries, so I'd try it again, but maybe not on my $4."

Clam Bake Dinner Buffet

"Our dinner was at cape may - fortunately our 3 kids (11, 7, and 6) love crab legs! (Good thing since this is a pricey meal!) My husband and I usually eat our money in crab legs, too, so this is a good meal for us. However, I was kind of bummed with the desserts here, too. What is wrong with me?? I'm a sweet freak and nothing seems to be satisfying me. Maybe tomorrow?"

"BTW, my 11 year old can't take a serious picture - ever. So you get her with a funny face and a crab leg."

She said, "We were both tired and we had to pack 'cause we were changing hotels on Tuesday morning, so we bought 2 ham, apple and cheese sandwiches, a school bread and a chocolate pretzel from Norway and we ate them at the hotel."

Then for lunch on Tuesday, Arielle71 and her DH had lunch at Magic Kingdom's...

She said, "I had the burger with mushrooms and grilled onions and my DH had the Philly Cheesesteak...both were pretty good and their fries are really nice."

"For dessert, we shared a sundae of butter pecan and mint chocolate chip ice cream with hot fudge and nuts...kind of a weird combo but it worked!"





Then dinner was at Magic Kingdom's...

She said, "It was packed at 8:30, so we shared a table with strangers and didn't take pictures but here is one from the net..."

"We both had the Mediterranean Salad. For CS, we thought it was pretty nice with lots of chicken, bocconcinis, olives, and grilled pepper and red onions."





"Then before leaving the park at midnight, we stopped at the..."


Main Street Confectionery

"I had a chocolate Mickey cake pop and DH had the Mickey toffee brownie...they were both perfect for a midnight snack and people at our busy bus stop were asking where we got those nice snacks!"

Yesterday Arielle71 and her DH had lunch at the Yacht & Beach Club Resort's...

First a couple of menu pics...

"We both had the Hot Dog Plate. It was a pretty basic dog but it was a nice change since we never have them at home. DH had coffee and said it was really nice and I had a cherry coke."

"After that we shared the No Way Jose...mmmmm."

"We had a really nice server, she even brought us one drink each in a to go cup before we left."
