Coming from the Great White North in August WE'RE BACK.2nd DAY PTs1&2POSTED PAGE 23

Ain't that the truth!!! But I've got the solution... more coffee. And on a really good day, Irish coffee!!!

You may be working on it but it's been over 12 hours since you posted and it ain't here. Guess you really are Peg's sister, huh? :rotfl2:
rl

Mmmm, coffee, haven't had any yet, my girlfriends and I are meeting for brunch today so maybe I will have a "special" coffee since I'm not driving:confused3

Great update. Declan would fit right in with you guys. He loves to sit on the hottest seat on the bus too, the back bench. :lmao:

What is it with kids and the back of the bus....Manitoba in January I love that back seat, but Florida in August......:headache:

So off to the hotel we go, but along the way we stop in front of the Hat for some photopass pictures. I like to do this on the way in when we are still fresh from morning showers etc, but Jasmine is always in a hurry to get to the rides....not so pretty after 3 hours in Florida heat. We will post those once we get the Photopass CD, which I believe Peg ordered today!

Jasmine and I got ready and headed straight to the pool, picked our coveted lounge chairs and I headed to the poolside bar...I know how surprised you all are. Anyhoodle, for my first day I decided to have a mango margarita, which was delicious, however, I gulped it back so fast because I was thirsty and I didn't bring any more money with me so it was my one and only drink. I remembered from this day forward to bring our mugs to actually quench our thirst so I could leisurely sip my cocktail. Jasmine indulged in a lava smoothie which was pina colada mix with raspberry puree, she had one everyday by the pool for the entire trip.

We stayed by the pool for about an hour and a half then decided we really needed to have at least half an hour rest before starting to get ready for dinner. We decided we would start showering at 330pm so we could all be at the bus stop by 445pm as we had an ADR at 50's Prime Time Cafe at 550pm.

092-2.jpg

Jasmine "getting her tan on" her goal for this trip was to go home with a spectacular tan, all this while her auntie is harping on her about sunscreen. She did apply it when we went down to the pool in the afternoon but neither of us were very good about putting it on when we were going to the parks
093-3.jpg

Grandstand Pool, this was the only pool Jasmine and I used while we were at SSR. It was literally right around the corner from our room. If we ever stay here again though, I would like to try the main pool. Darn it, I guess we`ll have to go back again
094-2.jpg

Snow White giving me the thumbs up, how cute is she
095-2.jpg

Geodoc and Mini Montana getting into the action. MM and SW were both in swimming lessons most of the summer so MM was all about showing us everything she learned.
096-1.jpg

Jasmine realized as soon as we got to the pool she had forgotton her sunglasses, but god forbid we should actually go back to the room to get them. She hates this picture, but I happen to like it, I think it shows how happy she was to be here.

098-1.jpg

All prettied up to go out for dinner, Geodoc took this at our bus stop.
099-1.jpg

We finally arrived at 50`s and proceeded to the lounge or bar area and we were telling the girls that this is how grandma and grandpa`s house looked when we were little girls...they didn`t care. Too funny.
100-1.jpg

Geodoc and Jasmine
101-1.jpg

Bar area, not quite sure what Peg is doing here....
102-1.jpg

Our parents had bookshelves that looked just like this....encyclopedia`s on every shelf though. To this day, our dad will still say, I don`t know why Jasmine doesn`t come and use the encyclopedia`s to do her homework...internet dad, it`s called the internet
103-1.jpg

MM, SW, and Jasmine...everyone was quite hungry and it wasn`t long before we were called to dinner
104-1.jpg

This young man showed us to our table and when I asked if I could get a picture of him with the girls, he asked why...I said because you`re such a handsome young man, he said I work with what I got lady. I thought Jasmine was good to pee her pants she was laughing so hard.
105-1.jpg

Jasmine and MM waiting for din din
106-1.jpg

Geodoc and Peg
107-1.jpg

Me and SW, I think she wanted to sit with me here because I kept Lady Tremaine at bay last year
108-1.jpg

Jasmine choose the salmon and she LOVED it, there was not a speck of anything left on her plate...last year she left some peas and she got them in a little dish with whipped cream for dessert....too funny
109-1.jpg

I had what I`ve had every single time we`ve come here...pot roast...it didn`t disappoint. Jasmine decided against dessert as she had a milkshake with her meal and apparently was fulll....whatever....bring on the strawberry sundae for the mama
097.jpg

Just another shot of Jasmine at the pool, I`ve been struggling with this post so I`m leaving it out of order...lol

After dinner we went to use our FP that Geodoc ran and got us while the rest of us rode ToT. We absolutely love this ride. This year we actually got to enjoy the scenery as we were waiting to ride...it was perfect.

After riding TSM, we headed over to get seats for Fantasmic. It was the only night it was going to work out with our schedule so it was a must do. I decided before the show started that I wasn`t going to take any pictures, I was simply going to enjoy the show.

This very nice gentleman beside me and his wife started talking to me. They were so nice, so easy to have a conversation with. He asked where we were from and when I said Canada he seemed disappointed. He then asked how old Jasmine was and when I said 16, he said perfect, how do you feel about moving to Florida, we have a son your age and you seem like a really nice girl. We howled. He was a preacher in their home town and was trying to marry off his son.

Now, I don`t know if it`s because we`ve seen Fantasmic so many times and we`re just used to it, but we all said it didn`t seem as good this time. I think it broke my heart WDW could actually get old to me. I`ve seen Wishes and it still brings me to tears every time...oh well, doesn`t mean I won`t see it again next year when we go.

It was crazy getting out of their that evening and the line for the 10 oclock show was all the way to the front of the park. It took us over an hour to get a bus and get to the resort, but hey, that`s what happens when you wait until after a show.

Got back to the resort and we all headed straight to bed. Next update....MAGIC KINGDOM.....my favorite park....it may have something to do with a certain castle

Great update!!! Thanks!!!!!

You had me howling when you talked about the encyclopedias. I remember my parents having a set but of course, I would never even THINK of wasting the money now. As soon as they're printed they're out of date :rotfl2:

GREAT update!!! Loved the pics!! That pool looks soooo inviting!! Can`t wait to hear more!!

All caught up again! Lovely pool pictures! I don't think I have ever seen a WDW pool that I haven't wanted to try!

Too funny about your dad, the encyclopedias, Jasmine, and the internet -- my FIL is like that, too! :lmao:

I so want to try Prime Time at some point -- just have to convince my family they will not be made objects of ridicule.

No clearly we can't be buying encycopedias.....we need that money to pay for our Disney trips:lmao:

Doesn't it? I said to Jasmine the other day there, I think we brought the Florida weather home with us. We really need to get together soon and chat about your holiday, I can't wait to hear all about it.popcorn::

I agree 100% about the pool...wish I was there right now.

They did pick on Jasmine last year, but I think it was because she was a teen,...I just love to see SW and MM on their abstolute behavior. The best was in 2002 when Geodoc, Peg and SW surprised us and met us at WDW. We went to 50"s and Peg HATES green beans....I have the best pic ever of our waitress shoving them into her mouth:lmao:

The resort looks fantastic.

It really was, we loved it!! I did break it to Jasmine that when we go next summer, it's value all the way, unless there's a deal and maybe we would upgrade to moderate but not to get her hopes up.:rotfl2:

I promise I will have another post up later on this evening. It has been a crazy week. This going back to work after being off for nearly 6 months is killing me, by 830 I'm ready for bed. I was also out 3 nights last week so that doesn't help. I really need to get into a routine again, when you're home all day housework, laundry etc just gets done, I remember going through this after maternity leave so I'm sure it will even out.

Jasmine has been a doll though and really stepped it up to help out, actually this week she did pretty much everything. :lovestruc She has today off and Thomas is working 9-6 so she wants to have a mom and daughter day, we're going to start looking for a grad gown, she wants to just look, try on different styles and colors to get an idea of what she wants.

Hope everyone has a great day and we'll see ya back here later tonight:confused:

Wow, a relaxing afternoon at the pool, a yummy dinner then TSM and Fantasmic!...sounds like a great second half to the day :thumbsup2

Jean was looking at your pics with me - she thinks you were lucky to have such nice looking lounge chairs at the pool and the salmon looked very good even though she doesn't like rice ;)

I hear you about life getting in the way of fun things like trip reports - the girls started all of their activities this week (ballet, skating, choir)...it was quite hectic!

Please tell Jean those lounge chairs were amazing....we were hoping for similar at AKL but nope, apparently just at SSR. I think I'm going to go outside my box next year and try the salmon!!

Hope you get into your routine soon too, it's always a shock to the system come September isn't it:lmao:

I think my pics are all downloaded now, so I'll try and get another day posted:banana:

So here we are....Wednesday August 22 and we're heading to the Magic Kingdom...I never really feel like I'm at WDW until we visit MK. Once again, we were up around 730 so we could be down at the bus by 830am. We all had breakfast in the room (I really loved having that kitchen) and we headed down to catch the bus. We lucked in this morning and it was actually waiting there when we got there.

117.jpg

Didn't quite realize this was our bus when I stopped outside to take the picture to really show how close the bus stop was with an actual bus at it...that was for Hypermommy!!
119.jpg

Had to grab this shot...I love the Celebrate Balloon's and I love the anticipation of walking through into the MK, as you can see Jasmine is already pretty sick of me taking her picture and it's only day 2. I kept reminding her though that Diane said she had to get let's of pictures so she never really complained....I guess she knew I'd let you all know.
120.jpg

We're here!! I always take a picture as soon as I get through that walkway...this year was so nice as there wasn't tons of people. Peg went and grabbed the stoller and we decided to see what characters were there and made a decision to stop.
121.jpg

Again, love the decorations this year, so I made her pose again.
122.jpg

The girls decided they wanted to wait and see Pluto so while they were in line I thought I would grab a shot of the train station.
123.jpg

One of my favorite stores...Confectionary...Jasmine and I consumed our fair share of chocolate covered strawberries from here....I could so go for one right now
124.jpg

Jasmine, Mini Montana and Snow White waiting patiently to see Pluto. We decided we wouldn't bolt for rides this trip, we were going to really enjoy everything along the way and if it meant waiting a little longer in line for a ride we were all ok with that. There is something about that characters and the little ones eyes that are pure magic.
126.jpg

Jasmine has always loved horses and when she saw the trolley coming down main street she took the camera to grab this shot. A few years ago it was in front of the castle and I told her to go by the horse and I would take her picture...so off she went and want gently patting the horse and the gentleman driving it yelled at her...I mean yelled!!! I should find the pic, she looks terrified
127.jpg

Jasmine and Pluto
128.jpg

I absolutely love the look on Mini Montana's face, she was laughing hysterically and for the life of me I can't remember why...I think it might have had something to do with her photo frame he was signing but Peg would have to verify that.
129.jpg

While the girls were finishing up, Jasmine ran to get a close up of the horse...we only have 100 from previous trips, but I guess we needed at least one more from 2009.
130.jpg

My favorite store! I have to tell you I didn't buy a thing here until out last day....it just felt wrong that I hadn't bought anything so I said to Jasmine, that's where I'm going to buy our picture frame from this trip.
131.jpg

Main Street USA...pure heaven....it was not busy at all so we had quite a leisurely stroll to Adventureland...we were off to Splash Mountain.
132.jpg

133.jpg

135.jpg

Casey's, in my opinion, best hot dogs on the planet are sold here
136.jpg

I took this as we were walking by Crystal Palace...never have too many pictures of the castle, can you??
137.jpg

This picture does not do this tree justice, it is absolutely gorgeous, the deepest purple flowers I have ever seen. We, of course, do not have gorgeous foliage on the prairies, probably has something to do with our long cold winters :P
138.jpg

On our way to Adventureland
139.jpg

Decided to take the bridge and go through Liberty Square, my favorite part of the park. I think I was destined to have lived in this time period.

I can't believe the girl is looking at grad gowns already. Then again my DD8 is obsessed with the show "Say yes to the dress" on TLC and is already planning out her wedding gown.

Hope you had a lovely Mommy daughter day.

Where is that update you promised us?

142.jpg

Liberty Tree Tavern, our favorite restaurant in MK, even without the characters we love the food here.
143.jpg

We finally made it to Splash Mountain and were pleasantly surprised that there was only a 20 minute wait, and even more surprised that BTMRR had a 10 minute wait. We decided not to bother getting FP and just rode SM. The girls were pretty exciting about their first ride at MK, MM has already decided that she would be riding with Jasmine...last year Jasmine apparently did a really good job of holding onto her, unlike her daddy on BTMRR, more on that a little later

144.jpg

How cute is she? She was quite proud of her Pirate Princess hat.
145.jpg

146.jpg

148.jpg

Jasmine and Mini Montana on the final leg before boarding, MM was talking Jas into asking for the front row....did she do it?
150.jpg

First view of the ride vehicle...gosh I love this ride.
151.jpg

153.jpg

Doesn't Jasmine look happy, she did ask the cast member if her and MM could sit in the front row and she said of course....what she won't do for her cousins.
154.jpg

Here they are...front row!!! Hey, as long as it's me I can laugh at Jasmine
155.jpg

After we rode SM we ventured over to BTMRR. MM ran up and grabbed my hand and asked if she could sit with me on the ride. See last year when we rode BTMRR I held her for her very first ride...second ride she wanted to go with her daddy. Daddy didn't hold her thinking she would do ok because she had already ridden with me. Jasmine and I were in the seats behind them and I almost had a cardiac arrest when I saw her slip under the lap bar onto the floor. Well, our little darling remembered this and wasn't taking a chance, so she sat with her auntie who held her as tight as can be!!

So we accomplished the two rides we had scheduled for Frontierland and decided to head to Sunshine Tree Terrace. The heat was ridiculous, but again we were not going to complain, we were just in desperate need of hydration....or smoothies and ice cream :)

Nice man who made Jasmine's raspberry smoothie and my pineapple float. Both were to die for...I actually perferred this float to the Dole Whip float....there's something about having ice cream at 1030am in Disney that just feels right

Raspberry smoothie and pineapple float

162.jpg

After our wonderful morning snack we decided to head over to HoP. The kids had never been and we were excited about the addition of Obama. On the way we saw Donald out for a photo shoot so of course we decided to stop. Jasmine and Donald
163.jpg

Peg, Geodoc, SW and MM with Donald
164.jpg

Inside HoP, I thought this was beautiful
165.jpg

Another photo before we went in to see the presentation, which was great. We really enjoyed it.We decided our last ride of the morning would be Haunted Mansion, much to SW's dismay. Poor kid hates the ride, but did it anyway, I was very proud of her. MM couldn't care less about ghosts, she sat between Jasmine and I and yapped the whole way. Too funny. She loved the ghost at the end sitting on her lap.

Once we had of fill of 999 happy haunts, we were more than ready for lunch. We decided since Columbia Harbour House was right there that we would try it. I had read such wonderful reviews about the Anchors Away Sandwich I had to try it. It was everything and more. It was so nice to have something other than hamburgers or fries. I quite enjoyed it. I didn't bother with dessert here as I had the float a couple hours earlier and was somewhat trying to watch what I ate....I watched it go in my mouth most of the time. The lady that was taking our order told me to take 2 bottles of water if I wasn't going to have dessert. I would say this was hit and miss. I think about half of the CM would offer this and the other half never bothered to give you other options if you didn't want dessert. I would have to ask, which they always said yes to, but would have been nice to have been offered.

On our way out of the park Jasmine and I stopped at Guest Relations to add the park hopper option to our tickets. I had used my air miles from home to get them and it made more sense to pay $100 to upgrade than to use the extra air miles to upgrade. Once that was done, we headed to the bus and waited about 20 minutes. This poor older lady at the bus was petrified of the ducks and of course they were everywhere. I have never seen someone this afraid, I have to tell you though, I thought it was funny. I think the heat was getting to me. I don't know what was funnier, her fear or Jasmine trying to keep them away from her. Jasmine is much kinder than her mama and thought I was horrid for hiding my laughter. The lady was so sweet and thanked Jasmine over and over and again when we got to the resort. The guilt for me set in and I felt terrible...but I took pleasure in knowing at least my daughter is kind and helpful!!!!!

Coming up next......EPCOT for dinner!!!!!!

Jasmine had the chicken nuggets and chocolate cake for dessert. You'll see a pattern throughout our trip...Jasmine loves her chocolate.

with an actual bus at it...that was for Hypermommy!!
Okay, cool.... at least now I know you aren't halucinating or something.

Jasmine ran to get a close up of the horse...we only have 100 from previous trips, but I guess we needed at least one more from 2009.
You might not have this particular horse. Well, now ya do!

Great shot of the castle with the carriage right in front of it!!!!

never have too many pictures of the castle, can you??
Sure can't! Horses maybe, but never the castle.

We finally made it to Splash Mountain
Oh, you can see it in Jas's face. I'm wondering if she's gonna grab that camera from you and keep it before long.

You just let Jas know that you're much nicer than me. I would have been herding the ducks towards the old lady. Hey... free entertainment, right?

Where is that update you promised us?

Well, I guess I need to eat my words now don't I?

:flower3:

I'm glad you held on tight to MM. I hate to think of her slipping through the bars. Isn't she lucky to have such a great Auntie as you.

Kudo's to Snow for riding HM when she hates it. It's tough to face your fears like that. I'm proud of her.

I'm surprised the kids wanted to go into the hall of presidents. I'm sure mine wouldn't have.

Queen, all of your pictures of the Magic Kingdom are so wonderful! I love early morning there, and this morning, I feel like I was there while I scrolled through your pictures!!! :goodvibes

You're right, you can never have too many pictures of the Castle. Great update and great pictures! Jasmine does look very happy to pose for you. ;)

Free entertainment is right, and I found tons of it waiting in line every evening for the bus.....people will never cease to amaze me. At least this poor lady was yelling, screaming and swearing....yup, we had tons of that in line and I know you'll be shocked that I didn't keep my mouth shut on a couple of occassions:woohoo:

Well, I guess I need to eat my words now don't I?

No you don't need to eat your words....I'm technically challenged and don't know how to do it on word and then move it so I post one and start another....I may need a class:rolleyes1

Yes my little MM is in good hands with her Auntie:hug:

I will absolutely pass on that to SW....would be nice if Peg popped in and she could let her read it herself...PEG WHERE R U???:lmao:

Queen, all of your pictures of the Magic Kingdom are so wonderful! I love early morning there, and this morning, I feel like I was there while I scrolled through your pictures!!! :goodvibes

Hands down my favorite park first thing in the morning. When people say to me "You're going again" after the urge to slap them passes, I think how much they miss never having been. Heaven to me, pure heaven:cloud9:

You're right, you can never have too many pictures of the Castle. Great update and great pictures! Jasmine does look very happy to pose for you. ;)

Yes ya gotta love that look....she kept mentioning to me that it was HER camera.....whatever, I'm holding it and I'm ultimately in charge of this operation so get over it:rotfl2:

I love that show too....I was like that as a little girl, I had my wedding planned down to every last detail....never got married, but I was prepared if it happened:lmao:

I know, it seemed early to me too, however, they are all on sale right now and that appeals to the mama. It also helps that her two friends have already bought there's so....god forbid we should be different.

We had the best day....we went to 2 bridal salons, lunch, then bra shopping which is always fun, she loves it:woohoo:NOT....she was not impressed with the place we went, it almost seemed like she was a bother, so we left.
