DAY 2
So I am sure I will mess this up now considering I had it written when I was feeling creative, and now here I am feeling ashamed for not making sure my work was completely saved before X'ing it out for bed...
So I trudge on................
Day 2 started off with a wake up call that I didn't realize I hit the speakerphone button for. As you may recall I was awake most of the night and had actually been up for a good 40 hours before that. WAKKKKKKKKKEEEEE UPPPPPPPPP GRUMBLE GRUMBLE HEHEHEHEHE arghhhhh dang Stitch...I have such a love hate relationship with that guy. I love his look, hate his annoying little voice. So I roll over and nudge TC who is oblivious to the screeching noise coming out of the phone on MY side of the bed. He asks what time it is and I delightfully (haha yah right) exclaim, 6:15!!
I knew we needed to shower and get ready then head to the Pepper Market which was a hike and a half from our room. SO we start and are quickly moving out the door taking the GORGEOUS stroll around the property. One we grew to love and admire every single day and realizing we truely had a blessing in disguise being placed in building 6A.
This was the day we were going to find TC's new love.
He would eat this every single day for the rest of the trip. It was the Southwestern Omelette ...yummmmy I grabbed a bite and I must say, if I had the stomach for a big breakfast THIS would be it. I decided just to grab a cup of fruit (which was really sweet and juicy) and an english muffin with jelly. Coffee was an everyday wake me up for both TC and myself
After getting breakfast down (and paying OOP) we headed to the Bus Stop # 1. After about 10 minutes our bus pulls up and we get on...the only ones heading to MK on this bus...This would become the norm, us on a bus alone, feeling as if we were being brought privately to the parks
Another big plus on CSR being a convention resort! We got the MK around 8:15 and walked to the dead turnstiles where they let us through @ 8:30 to stand at the rope drop below the train station. I spied an elderly couple on ECV's with the bride and groom Mickey/Minnie hats and had the entire area saying AWWW once I pointed them out. I looked at TC and he grabbed my hand as if reassuring me WE would be like that someday....I hope so. They were adrorable!
<ok, going to vent here for a sec>
This is when I got my first disappointment of the trip in people....While standing there I overheard a family say "We can just say we have ADR's and they'll let us through" grabbing the kids by the hand and walked to the CM standing by me. The told her they had 8:45 reservations @ CP and she waved them through. I did everything in my power to not say anything as I was afraid of the kids feelings if a CM said something but I stood there shocked these parents would LIE in front of the kids just to get to Main St--where they'd be stopped by more ropes in the "ride"areas. SAD.
So the rope drops and off we go , slowly wandering down Main St were I step back and start my snapping of castle photos all the while TC mumbling, if you've gotten a photo 10 years ago, 5 years ago, THIS year, why do you need more? I start to explain that the castle changes and I like having them then realize what I am taking a picture of--A CRANE!! A CRANE on the precious castle...The magical item that you first notice when you realize you are in Disney, and there is a BIG CRANE propped next to it. Scarred for life I delete most of the photos and kept 1 pathetic photo to share:
Sigh....So we move onto our journey to TOMORROWLAND...Stopping at the rope for a few moments and then being trampled to the back of the line by people racing to Space and Buzz. We make our way and grab FP's to Space and then head over to Buzz where we would ride it 4 times in a row (I ended up riding either 7 or 8 times that day) laughing hysterically each time as we tried to beat each other's score. TC had never been on BUZZ and he kicked my butt.
But not by much as here is mine:
After that we headed towards Fantasy Land to make our way to the Haunted Mansion. This is how quiet it was:
We walked right through the que and were the ONLY ones in the stretching room...and totally alone on the ride. It was eerie. (Hitting save just in case I loose anything here lol)
We are feeling the heat at this point and start walking to Big Thunder but quickly change our minds and get in the line---well actually there wasn't one----for Splash. It was amazing how quiet it was. I forgot to take off my hat and while going down it flew off, but being the quick one I am, I caught it in the air. The people behind me said "AWESOME CATCH" as soon as we got to the bottom as they actually made bets I'd lose it if I didn't remove it! LOL
Once out we make our way around to the new and improved Pirates of the Carribean. I enjoyed the slightly new version and TC said he didn't get what was so "new" about it...He hasn't been on this ride in 6 years so I forgave him. He kept pointing out how much he almost thought Johnney Depp was really there! lol. From here we had a new window to get another FP so we grabbed one to the Jungle Cruise. In all my trips I had never been on and had promised myself I'd try it. We make our way from the back across the park *we did a LOT of back tracking and walking* to Tomorrowland to ride Space Mtn. I got the front seat and TC was right behind...I heard him grunt a few times and he said after he didn't remember it being that "whippy". He thought he had whiplash! LOL
Time for lunch at this point I am telling him what each place has knowing he will end up picking my favorite. PECO'S BILLS IT IS!! He enjoyed this lunch so much and this was his second taste of the Dining Plan. $29.74 that we didn't have to pay for....Felt nice and he said he wants to get it even if we pay for it ...everytime!
TC got the double cheeseburger with bacon and I got the chicken wrap...YUMMMY. I loaded up on the toppings bar and had some melted cheese for my fries. mmmmmm We split my Peanut butter brownie thingie and gave the other one to a woman and little girl sitting nearby that didn't have dessert. Her mom was very greatful and we felt good that we didn't trash it. We head over to the Jungle Cruise and had a very funny, but soaked with sweat driver. He was so soaked that people were backing up as he was dripping and it was pretty icky! I felt bad for him but his energy level didn't at all suffer. He was a ton of fun!
TC asks if I want to stick around or head out and I tell him I want to go get a drink at the Poly and show him a few resorts. We jump on the Train and took it to the front of the park, which TC enjoyed.
He mentioned so many times that "Disney has thought of everything" We leave the park and hop on the monorail . Once there we stroll around and comment on how dead the resorts are also---love this time of year!
We are still really full from lunch and walking is miserable to we go to the marina and rent a sea raycer to go out on the lagoon with. This was a ton of fun and we couldn't bring the camera for pics, but our raycer must have been broken b/c people were FLYING by us in the same boats and we were going full speed...It was pathetic! We laughed quite a bit and TC got to ooooh and ahhhh at the Wilderness Lodge and Grand Floridian from the water. At this point the sky is growing dark so we head back to the marina to go get a drink at the poolside bar praying the rain holds out. At the marina they ask how our time out there was and when TC just says "Our boat seemed slower then all the others" she took $20 off the price of the rental...WOOHOOO drink $$ and PIXIE DUST!!!
We get our drinks in Souveniour glasses and start to walk and tour the property when the sky opens up...BUCKETS...It is pouring pretty bad and we look at each other, shrug our shoulders and step out from under the cave waterfall by the pool into the rain. It felt really good on our skin as we were pretty heated up from the sun on the boat. We had a ton of fun drinking our now partially watered down drinks walking in the rain. Once we finished those we went to the monoral and it was pulling away............
Brilliant me decided to suggest heading to the bus stop downstairs and going to Downtown Disney. In the rain
TC agrees and we make our way back through the top level of the Poly, down the stairs, out the front door and across the walkway to the bus stop to sit...and wait....and wait.....and finally after 20 minutes the DTD bus pulls up. We board and were the only ones on it which is always a bonus. Once at the Marketplace entrance we head into the Disney Day's of Christmas store. One of my favorite stores in ALL of WDW. I made note to return later in the week so I can stock up on new ornaments and grab a few for family. We start to head out of the store after a few minutes (well almost 30 since I love it there) and we can't get out. People were blocking the doors with strollers and bags and what not as it is pouring and everyone is seeking shelter . Finally the rain started to let up a bit so we pushed our way to the front and walked across to Goofy's Candy Company. TC wanted a double shot espresso and I wanted a caramel iced coffee. TC was ooh and ahhing over the selections here and wanted to watch as some items were made for customers. Wandering from there we headed into Disney Tails and I picked up a few Mickey head shaped toys for my dogs. I own 2 Boxers and they LOVE a good game of tug-o-war with a new toy...What better then Mickey?
I grabbed a Bandana for my not so playful English Bulldog and a box of treats for my parents Boxer. Feeling satisfied for thinking of the dogs TC says "Is this where they have all those LEGOS???" I smile and drag him across the Marketplace and his eyes almost fell out of his head! He was amazed at the water dragon, the lego people, the transformer looking guy....He couldn't get over it. TC loves LEGOS but has never seen anything like that. He now said he wants to start building life sized things out of legos...great. lol
At this point it is about 3 pm and our dinner ADR @ Tony's isn't until 6:05 so we head through over to Pleasure Island. I couldn't believe how much of an eye sore the construction going on was, so muc so I decided against photos. Didn't start off as a good impression at first for TC but once we rounded the bend and came over the bridge near Planet Hollywood he saw what it had in store. We made our way down to the Virgin Megastore and browsed for a bit. It felt good as the heat and humidity outside was making us miserable and sticky. I decide to pick up the Cheetah Girls 2 CD for Ashley and look around at some books upstairs while TC "tests out" some video games. We start to get bored and I ask him if he wants to head towards the Grand Floridian to check it out. He points out that since he has never seen ANYTHING here and I have that I should just do and not ask. Hmmm--NICE
Out we go and to the bus stop to wait for the Grand Floridian bus...that seemed to never show up. There was another family there that were getting impatient so when we saw the Poly bus I suggested we all grab it and then take the monorail over to the Grand Floridian. They were relived as the kids were miserable. We all were at that point ....
Small rant hereBoarding the monorail I almost got into a fight with a woman who lit up a cigarette on the platform . I told her that it was NONSMOKING there and she told me, TOO bad, I am smoking a few puffs and I should move if I didn't like it. The CM standing nearby heard what was going on and scolded her. There was a sign saying no smoking----and she was LEANING on it. Not to get into the fact she was smoking as that doesn't bother me, but that is all about ignorance.
Once on the monorail she mombled and complained to the man with her who kept shushing her as he was getting embarrassed..
Once at the Grand Floridian we take a stroll around the property to the boat dock to sit and wait for a boat to the MK.....Well we see nothing at all going on
...and realize that there wasn't one that was going to come at all...BUMMER because here comes the rain--AGAIN. Pretending not to mind we walk back to the main building to the monorail. At this point I wish we had time to go shower and freshen up before our ressies, but alas we wasted that time and it was 4:35. We got off the monorail and glanced over to the boat dock--ROPED OFF. No boat to the GF. sigh. Live and Learn
Back into MK we head to Buzz and I attempt to kick TC's butt..HAHA nope, still not going to happen. We wander from there over to Liberty Square in and out of shops like Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe (notice I like XMAS decorations???) and check out some portraits being done in the Portrait Gallery. At this point I wonder if we can get in early for our ADR as I'm getting Rumbly in my Tummy as Pooh would say. The mob scene @ Tony's took my slightly aback. People were arguing with the CM's. One conversation went something like this:
Anygry woman: I had 5:10 ADR's and checked in 15 minutes early, but you have taken "walk-in's" before me"
CM: I aplogize ma'am but we haven't taken any of the walk-in's yet. They were told 45 min to an hour.
Angry woman: Yes you did! I remember exactly who has been called and they came in after and was put on the waiting list. I made ADR's 180 days ago!!!!! How dare you!
CM:*loudly* No ma'am, these are who have been called. "The XXX Family, 5pm ADR, The XXXX Family 5pm ADR, etc......he pulled out the cards as proof. He apologized and said they were running behind. At this point the woman sat down and they called her within 3 or 4 minutes. I felt bad, as they were taking walk-ins (with a wait) and ADR's were falling way behind.
I checked in at 5:50 (15 minutes early) and go to wait outside
and we were called shortly after 6. We were taken to our table which was decorated for my birthday
and then the restaurant swirled their napkins when a CM had me stand up and he announced my 26th birthday .(sorry dark photo)
I didn't take food photos here. I got the Spinach Artichoke dip (which I really liked) and TC got the Soup of the Day...I think it was a chicken Tortellini, which he said he enjoyed but didn't LOVE. For our meals I got Chicken Fiorentina. I didn't like this AT all. It was sort of a Chicken Cordon Bleau which I normally like, but this dish didn't do it for me. TC got the NY strip steak and it was very good. He really liked his potatoes. I liked the red wine gorgonzola butter it came with. (My mouth is watering right now! LOL). Noticing the calamari appetizer passing our table every 2 minutes started to kill me as I had wanted to get that for an app, and he was afraid, but then he became disappointed that he isn't more bold in his choices. Rounding out our dinner was the dessert sampler that we shared. It has cheesecake, Tiramisu and a cannoli. This is what is served on the DDP. I really liked this dessert. I am a HUGE fan of Tiramisu. We could barely share it as we fought over it lol. Total here would have been $92.05. We had a great server so we left a $10 tip ontop of what she received on the plan. During our dessert a little girl behind TC took a liking to him and started playing peek-a-boo with him. Her mom asked her to turn around and apologized and TC egged her on...He is so BAD! I kept telling him to stop but they just kept laughing. The mom got up to apologize directly to us and noticed my streamers (they had just gotten there) and asked if it was our anniversary or honeymoon. TC said "Nope her birthday" . SHe had her daughter sing Happy Birthday to me and it was adorable! We got up and left a few moments later but that made my night.
We decided to head to Big Thunder Mtn where my stomach was starting to turn as we boarded the ride. Frightened I may be sick I focused on taking photos and chatting with TC.
.
Once off I felt a little bit better so we headed over to Adventureland and walked up the Swiss Family Treehouse. TC was expecting something exciting, but instead I made him and his full belly walk ap a million stairs and back down again ...He almost looks happy about this in the pics:
NOT
At this point we head down to see Wishes and stop for a small photo op (dark):
From there we make way to Main St for Wishes and stake out a spot in the dead center of the street. Other people gathered right behind us and it started filling up very quickly.
Directly in front of us the CM's started moving people along (YAY! no people up against us) and told them to get behind us or WAY ahead of us as there needed to be a pathway right where we stood. Hoola Hoop games were going on with some kids and CM's and it was great to watch them get so involved. Announcements start and people settle down a bit. And then it begins ....ahhhhh Still my favorite.
This shot makes it all worth hanging around for the fireworks.
From here we fear the worst with the lines at the bus stop and contemplate hanging out for a bit till the crowds clear. We are feeling fairly tired as it was a long second day and I still hadn't gotten much sleep so we headed out. There was maybe 8 people in front of us when we arrived at our bus que. The bus pulled up less then 5 minutes later and we got off @ bus stop #1 so I could get water @ Panchito's Gifts. Walking along we saw I am guessing Illuminations across the way from our resort. We watch for a few moments and head to the Dig Site to see what time the pool bar closes.....7...dang.
So we make our way past the 22 person hot tub where it was packed to capacity again tonight. We saw this very often as after a day in a convention I'd want to hang there also! I take in the air and just realize that I spent my birthday in the best place in all of the USA (IMO) and realize life is good. TC must have been thinking the same thing because he grabbed my hand and smiled. I called the kids and chatted about the day and said my goodnights just as we got back to the room. A nice long hot shower was in order and it felt good to climb into bed with nothing but happy dreams of what was still to come.
So I am sure I will mess this up now considering I had it written when I was feeling creative, and now here I am feeling ashamed for not making sure my work was completely saved before X'ing it out for bed...
So I trudge on................
