Hallaf😷😷😷😷inluya. SixFlags in Texas already implemented freedom to choose last week. Schools too...June 4th masks for school kids in Texas is OPTIONAL It is about time! And CV hospitalizations in Texas are at their lowest points ever.....so much for our “neanderthal” thinking.

The CDC states that those who are fully vaccinated don't need to wear masks. Without any verification, there is no way to determine if a person walking around without a mask is vaccinated or not. However, since the vaccines are not approved for anyone 11 and under, it is clear that those kids aren't masked and I hope Universal plans to enforce masks with them. Any kids aged 12-15 will not be fully vaccinated until at least mid June.

I won't be making my kids mask inside. Universal is not going to be threatening to kick people out for their unmasked small children now.

How would you know a kid’s age by looking at them? My 9 (almost 10) year old looks like he could be 11 or 12. My friend’s 12 year old looks like he’s 9. Slippery slope there.

Probably the same way they handle determining if a kid is 3 and needs a ticket. When my kids were borderline age, we'd bring a copy of their birth certificate with in case we were questioned (as suggested by this board at the time!). Maybe families should carry their kids vaccination card if they are a borderline age and they want them to go maskless? It's not going to be perfect, but they are most likely going to be able to tell if a 7 year old who isn't wearing a mask is under 11.

What about shoes or a shirt? Do you have a problem with your kid wearing those in a theme park too? This is a public health matter and your kid under 11 can't be vaccinated and therefore not in compliance of the CDC recommendations or UO's new policy. People seem quick to tell someone like me to stay home if my family is uncomfortable with the change in the mask policy, which I accept, but those who are comfortable going right now should be following the rules.

Even after they can be vaccinated, they won't be. They're not at risk.

I think the governor signed an order banning verifying vaccine status with the cards except for purposes of employment. Honestly, it’s hard to keep up with what every state or county is doing.

I do know that the Orange County, Florida mayor just announced they met the metrics to move into the next tier which I believe gets rid of the indoor mask mandate altogether. He stated fully vaccinated people can gather without masks both indoors and out. Then he said something about encouraging those who weren’t vaccinated to do so. Someone please correct me if that’s isn’t right about what that tier means for people.

That’s not even remotely the same thing so don’t even play that card. Forcing children to cover their face and breathe in their own bacteria and breath for hours at a time is not the same thing as making them wear shoes or shirt. Give me a break 😒😒

They'd better be! I'm not going to be teaching a bunch of unmasked, unvaccinated kids in the fall. If the mask rules are removed and vaccines aren't mandatory for all students and staff I will walk off the job, and I can tell you I will not be alone in that. If kids aren't vaccinated good luck finding people to teach them.

Here in Texas we have been free to choose for months. Many kids went to school mask free the last few months of school with success. There are many rule following nonvaccinated who still mask. There are many vaccinated who go maskless. There are masked vaccinated that still mask out of fear of the unvaccinated who might not mask or just hesitancy in general. And our hospitalizations and deaths due to CV are at their lowest levels since the start of everything. Do what you feel comfortable doing, dont judge the next guy for doing the same.

Bye...?

All the teachers here have been teaching just fine all year.

Yes it is. I'm sure someone thought the same thing about shoes at one point. Give me a break.

Not all of Texas feels the way you do. I live in TX too and my community seems to still be overwhelmingly supportive of masks . Of course, we faired much better than the majority of the state during the surge probably because of that.

For those who are concerned, this is probably not the best time for you to visit the parks until you’re comfortable around strangers who are unmasked. I’m sure if you call and cite the change in masking policy as your reason for cancellation of a room with Disney or Universal, they’ll give you a refund. I can tell you that the overwhelming comments on social media are applauding the removal of masks. If you’d still feel comfortable wearing a mask even if others aren’t, then you can still go.

I guess I don’t see the point in debating this. Universal made their call. If you don’t like it, then you shouldn’t go. With Mayor Demmings’ announcement, we’ll see what Disney does, if anything.

Then leave your job! That’s absurd you think all kids no matter what need to be vaccinated to make what you feel safe. Get off your high horse. People have the right to medical freedom it’s called America!!!! Hope you don’t live in Oklahoma because they just passed a law that ban the mandatory vaccines for children in school 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 I hope lots of states follow.

I can’t imagine them continuing to force masks on kids.

If you’re vaccinated, why do you care? Unless the vaccine isn’t really a vaccine... lol.

Well, Greg Abbott banned masks in public schools about a week ago, effective June 1. So masks are done in Texas.

Lots and lots and lots of teachers getting jobs here in Texas....leaving CA and WA and NY by the 1000s. Paying 100k cash over asking for existing houses. This market is crazy. And starting June 4th it is illegal to mask any school aged child in Texas. After successfully teaching in person all year (and some of that mask optional) and letting our kid do all their activities our kids are thriving! And CV numbers are at an all time low. If I could finnd a lot I would build and sell my house for a giant profit....but there are actual LOTTERIES just to get a builders lot. Crazy times!
