Colorado DISers ... where are you ?

no snow, no snow to ruin proms!!

(Cassidy's is in a couple of weeks...and I think it's supposed to be outside:rotfl2:)

Can anyone tell me about this if you have been there. DD10 class is going there for thier field trip.

Last year they went to the butterfly pavilion then the history museum, I thought it was a poorly planned trip. They went to the Pavillion then the museum, well at the museum they say the Bayou film at IMAX, and only had an hour for the exploring the museum. They should have just picke the museum. Its a 3hr drive each way.

Val - did the weather ruin anything for the prom? not much snow down here, but sure is cold.

No! and we were so relieved that the huge snowstorm didn't materialize. It's cold up here too, and I got no argument when I insisted she wear her coat. They have a coat check there.

DD and her best friend looked so beautiful and grown up! We spent most of the afternoon at the hairdressers and getting ready. Getting updos was worth every penny. Both girls already had formal gowns from previous weddings and cruises, and they'd gone shoe shopping a few weeks ago. They asked to be taken out to dinner and chose the Outback; I called ahead for seating and we had a nice dinner with lots of laughter. We'd left the house so quickly that we hadn't taken pictures, so we did that in front of the restaurant on the side protected from the wind. We were quick - both girls were sleeveless and it was cold! Then off to the prom location in Arvada, and hopefully they will have a wonderful, memorable evening.

I'm sorry, but I've never been to this, and all I know about it is from seeing the advertisements on television.

Val, thought about your DD. Sounds like everything worked out.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the museum either.

I was very excited when I came across this thread for Colorado. We live in St. Augustine, Florida but recently completed a small home in Westcliffe, Colorado in Custer County. We have plans to go to Coors Stadium for the first time to see the Rockies play in May. I would love some advice on where to sit in the stadium and best ballpark food.:fish:

Welcome ScubaMickey. Sorry I can't help you with the Rockies. I have been but certainly not an expert on either. Surely someone will be able to help you. BTW, are you sure you want to move? LOL We are expecting 1-2 FEET of snow in the Denver area today and tomorrow.

we love the Rockpile and that side of the field.

We usually get a hot dog from one of the outside vendors.

The steak nachos are yummy.

There aren't really any bad seats in Coors Field. I agree the Nachos are yummy. I usually do a hot dog and beer though

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. There are areas where the stair railings obstruct your view up in nosebleed, and you can't see all of the outfield in sections 105-109. Rockpile seats are cheap, but are backless bleachers. If you go HERE, you can click on a section and see the field from that vantage point. I like sections 331-334, sections 122-125 and all of club level (which is expensive, but it comes with perks like being served from your seat, an air-conditioned concourse and higher-quality specialty foods). On really hot summer days, sitting in the back rows of sections 205-209 is nice, because they're under an overhang and it's cooler. Sections 110-116 really bake when the temp is 80+ degrees. The third base side gets more shade during day games, if you're on the other side bring a cap to keep the sun out of your eyes. The sun will dip behind the stadium shortly after the start of most evening games.

If you'll be here May 3rd, and you like races, consider the HOME RUN FOR THE HOMELESS You run/walk around the streets of lower downtown, and the final lap is once around the warning track. The vendors serve a variety of snacks (both healthy and ...not), water, soft drinks and beer, and each entry earns you two free tickets to a Monday thru Thursday value or premium home game between May 6 and August 13. They also give away autographed bats, balls, card, tickets, shirts, etc. at the after-race party to a small number of participants. Hey, my DH scored a baseball signed by Troy Tulowitzki last year, it can happen! It's a lot of fun and it's all over before noon. :)

I love the tornadoughs! they are a pastry slathered in butter and your choice of cinnamon/sugar, parmesan or something else which escapes me at the moment. There are only two vendors for them, one on the home plate side and one in the outfield, and both are on the main level. We usually go to Subway prior to the game and bring our food, drinks and peanuts with us. You can bring in food and plastic bottles.

Welcome to Colorado!

I know. I guess I just haven't been in any really bad ones. I haven't done the nose bleed seats in many years. I don't like the bleacher seats though. We are typically in sec 110-112 I think. Last year those were the some of the $10 tix you could get from King Soopers.

it's ridiculous that those $10 seats (and some better ones) used to be $4 less than 4 seasons ago.

Those used to be the seats that were the "reward" for doing the 5K and you had the choice of almost any game from May until the beginning of September. Since they won the pennant, the seats you get are up on the 300 level, and there are restrictions on days and types of games. The price of success....

Greetings everyone.....stay warm and safe. Hopefully once this snow melts we will end up with wonderfully green yards!

Are you planning on staying in Denver after the game? It is a LONG drive back to Westcliff from Denver...my aunt and uncle moved outside of the town three years ago, and we've been once to visit - it's supposed to take about 4 hours from Ft. Collins, but when we hit traffic it took us over 5 to get into town. It will be at least a 3 hour drive from the stadium, without factoring in stadium traffic. Good luck, hope you have a great time! I don't think I've had anything to eat at the stadium that I haven't liked! ;)

Thank you everyone for all of the suggestions for great seats and fun foods. We are looking over the stadium seating using all of your suggestions. My husband and I are looking forward to our first Rockies game. We have booked a hotel in Denver to stay after the game. The next night we are staying at the Broadmoor just for one night for a special occasion. Then it is back to Westcliffe for the rest of our visit.

We both have five years left until retirement from our jobs, so we will visit Westcliffe on vacations and holidays. We just love the area and the friendly people. I am a Florida Native, so I do not think I will be albe to give up our winters...:cool1:

It is great getting local information from the experts...
