Visited Thorpe Park for the first time this weekend and rode the new record-breaking coaster there. Collossus, made by Intamin, has a world record 10 inversions, and was designed by the same guy who did Nemesis, Oblivion and A.I.R. at Alton Towers.

The coaster is very smooth, has some great features and is well worth making a trip to Thorpe Park for. The unique feature is a series of four heartline spins (imagine a very tight corkscrew turn) which you travel at such a slow speed that the only thing keeping you in (or near) your seat is the over-the-shoulder harness. This really gave an extra kick to a great coaster. Well worth a visit!

Oh I wish that we had gone now. We decided against going either yesterday or today, because we thought that it would be too crowded. If it's that good we'll try to make the time soon. Carolyn

Colossus was great!

We went on the Saturday after it opened and we thought Thorpe Park would be packed, but we were surprised! We only waited about 20 mins, but the queue for the front row was about 1 hour at that point!

The front row gives the best view of the ride and well worth the wait!

It's not strictly a "white knuckle" ride, but the corkscrew parts are awesome.

Perhaps we can organise a mini-meet at Thorpe Park?

Good grief! What's your definition of white knuckle? I was certainly hanging on for dear life, and not just in the 'falling-out-of-your-seat' bit!!

Rob....You wuss! - LOL

Perhaps I'm getting a bit "picky" in my dotage, but the ride just didn't cut it in the "White Knuckle" stakes IMHO.

No huge stomach churning drops or big G-force pulls - certainly not in the same league as the Hulk, Montu, Kraken or Kumba.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a great ride.......must go and try A.I.R at Alton Towers soon.

Nothing wrong with having a strong sense of self-preservation! ;)

I agree that it isn't in the same league as Hulk or Kraken, but I put it very firmly in the white knuckle category. I just wish Disney would build some coasters which could compete with these wonderful attractions...

Rob
