Colleges don't have IEPs & 504s

Another option:

Eastern New Mexico University is a traditional university with a special needs program. Many of my daughter's friends with Down syndrome and other disabilities have gone there.

It is an incredibly good program, combining life skills, vocational job training and classroom work all within a traditional university setting.

And since most special needs educators don't know about the program at the university, I have known a parent or two to use it to sound like they have all plans in place when they mention that their child will be attending the program. (whether they have any intention of sending their kid or not :rolleyes1) Satisfies the need of the educators to say the student is college bound, while really having a great vocational program.

Certified Nursing Assistant/Home Health
