College Program

I participated in the Disney Career Start Program (think Disney College program without the college) and it was amazing. I went from Feb 21st, 2011- Aug 14th, 2011. It was the best 6 months of my life.
I was a merchandise castmember at the World of Disney in Downtown Disney. I lived in Vista Way (it really is a great apartment complex, don't believe all of the rumors!!)

I would be happy to answer any questions about living in Disney and the Disney college program!

Interesting! Sounds cool.

Sorry to post twice, but I was just wondering, what type of houses are there?

OOH OOH I ACTUALLY KNOW THIS ONE!

There's Vista Way, Chatham, and Patterson which are all Disney-owned off-property apartment complexes. You can get one, two or three bedrooms and which of those you get determines roommates and pricing.

EDIT: I've literally been researching the DCP so much I'm intrigued

Lol just make sure you know what you're getting into. The majority end up in food services and janitorial department or hospitality like cleaning rooms as a maid.

Oh definitely! You can reject roles and just not go if you don't like what they give you, and also you put down what you don't want! Also it helps if you have experience/a relating major. I would reject it if I got custodial or food or something like that, that's just me personally!

Food probably wouldn't bother me as much, I'd just have to be a waitress. But I would turn down the hospitality down in a milesecond, mostly because I cannot clean a room. The janitorial job is just disgusting to deal with because there are a lot of people who are rude to them when they go to Disney.

Well hospitality is actually like front desk guest services in resorts. The maid would be Housekeeping, or if they asked you to be a resort hopper which is where you switch midway from hospitality to housekeeping! But I wouldn't want to be a custodian either, I heard it's good for guest interaction at times but still!

Okay. I was talking about the bathrooms, because when a janitor has to clean them I have seen a few people throw their paper towels right on the floor in front of them! Talk about rudeness to Cast Members, as well as people in general!

I've seen that too! I can't believe people do that... :( Especially since the CMs work SO hard for the guests!

That's why I try to be as nice as I can to them, even if other people treat them bad. I feel so bad for the maids too because some jerks out there don't appreciate them as much as they should.

I'm so excited to apply to DCP! But...I'm only a sophomore in high school so I have some time to go. I would LOVE to be a Photo Pass Photographer, a Vacation Planner, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, or Concierge. :goodvibes

Subbing! I would LOVE to do DCP! Can't wait to learn so much more than I already know! Off to go research! :surfweb:

They no longer do the careerstart program. It is only college program.
Also, the housing now also includes The Commons which used to be open only to international CPs :)
