Do you have any special rules for your children who live at home while attending college?

My parents only have 2 ...

1. As long as am doing good in school I don't have to get a "real" job (I tutor 3 kids, each 1 hour a week) and they will pay my way (money for school, clothes, entertainment, like trips to dl :D ). I do not take advantage of it through and really don't ask for anything, that's what my bf is for ;)

2. I have to tell them were I'm going and check in if I'm not coming home etc.

No we don't really have any rules.

I try to remember that he is almost 21 and what he might be doing if he were living away from home.

My son is a good kid, doesn't drink, smoke or generally get into any trouble. He tends to come home at a semi-reasonable time of day.

So far we have not had any problems.

I lived at home until I was 21. I had a 2am (my mom waited up) curfew on the weekends and did not go out at night during the week. I did go away to school for my junior/senior years. My dad paid for everything (and I mean everything) until I graduated at 25 (with a 3.8 GPA) . There is nothing wrong with having rules. Your kids won't melt.

My son is almost 22, still lives at home, goes to college, works and is trying to save so he can buy a place. he doesnt want to do what all his friends do and rent, I'm proud of him. he is a good boy and helps me at home when I need it. he comes home at a reasonable time. I guess he is a great kid and partialy due to the way I have raised him :D

i will be 20 in october and im going to be a sophomore...i lived away for the first semster and moved back home for my 2nd semester...My parents dont really have any set rules...i dont drink, smoke or anything like that...i just give my parents an idea of when i will be home and where im going to be...just as a courtesy..
my parents figure if i was living away, i wouldnt have to check in or anything, so they gave me the leniency

I didn't live at home during the school year. When I was home on vacations and stuff, my parents pretty much let me come and go as I pleased, although I generally told them where I was going, and what time (roughly) I'd be home. (They also knew all the people I hung out with, so they didn't have a problem with it)

Now that I've graduated, I moved home, but I have plans to move out within a year.

I don't pay rent, but I help out around the house (with my parents moving, there's been a lot of stuff that needs doing, a lot of errands that need to be run, etc), and I've also given rides to my siblings, mowed the lawn, that sort of stuff.

While I was in college, I lived on campus, but lived at home during all the breaks. I didn't have too many rules. I had to tell my parents where I was going (out of respect) and what time I'd be home (and call if I was to be late). Didn't have a curfew.

I'm a senior in college this year and still live at home, in the guest house, about 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time we stay at DBF's house in the city. He stays in my guest house when I'm at home. It's pretty much like living by myself, although I do get an occational knock on my door from my parents instead of a phone call.

There aren't any set rules for me since the only thing close to trouble I've ever been in is a speeding ticket 3 years ago. I drink 1-2 nights a month with friends, but we usually are staying at DBF's house when I drink. It's closer to the clubs - we can walk home after drinking. We both smoke and that's the one thing my mom highly prefers I not do. It's confined to the bathroom or outdoors however.

I work and am responsible, hardly ever asking for anything. I help out with stuff around home whether I'm asked or not. I keep in touch in some form at least once a day.
