Hello all - we are going to see the 90-year-old mouse from 1/20-1/26 2019. Just noticed that there is a college cheer competition through the 20th.

Is that going to impact much? I've heard the HS cheer stuff can get pretty busy/noisy... just wondering how much the college cheer competition brings in. This is our third time going MLK week, so we are used to the normal population, but I don't think the college cheer has hit during our visit before. Anything to look out for?

Thanks for any insight.

It will most likely not impact you very much unless you were planning on going to Wide World of Sports. 01/20 will busy at WWS. The next day will be a "free day" for the teams - most of them go to MK that day, many will visit Epcot at night (if they are over 21). Most of them fly out on the 22nd. Good luck!

Thanks. We have no interest in WWS, and plan MK on Sunday and HS on Monday - so I guess we will miss them! Rah Rah!

We didn't have any bad experiences in the parks, but we had a horrible bus experience and now my teenage son refuses to ever stay at AS Sports again because of it.

You will experience little to no impact UNLESS you are staying at the All-Star Resort, particulary All-Star Sports.:)

We actually enjoy watching them practice when any of our January trips coincides with them-they are AMAZING athletes!:)

Here is the perennial Coed Champion Kentucky Wildcats practicing at All-Star Sports.:)

Are you saying the horrible bus experience was because of the Cheerleaders or just the buses at Sports in general?

Thanks.

As noted,as long as you are not staying at the resort where most of the cheerleaders are staying, you should not have any problems.
We were there when a cheer competition ws going on. We saw a few at the parks on different days, but never enough to have any impact on crowd size.

Over the years we have been at WDW several times during cheer competitions. We find that the less mature high school groups are the ones more likely to be loud, obnoxious and annoying. One group of girls were doing cheers on a bus so you can imagine the comments that got from other riders LOL. College groups seem to be more controlled in their public activity.

When I was a WDW bus driver 5 years ago, I had a large younger cheer group board the bus at All Star Sports. Just as I began to pull away from the bus stop they started cheering. Making sure it was safe to do so, I immediately stopped the bus and made it abundantly clear to the chaperone that unless they stop cheering this bus is not moving. It worked, they were quite during the entire trip.

NICE!

It was specifically the loud cheerleaders who were goading my teenager because he didn't want to participate in their rowdy singing/shouting. HTH.
