Cold weather - lower crowds?

It looks like next week will be pretty chilly (Friday-Sunday) which are our park days, does this make crowds a bit lighter? Or is this just wishful thinking?

Depends on how chilly of course. But this time of the year, I'd guess most of the crowds during the week days will be travelers coming in from outside the Orlando area. That means unless it is really really colder, they will probably still hit the parks as they already paid to be here. I'd guess you might see a bit of reduced crowds (over normal) during the weekends where more of the local crowds hit the parks who may not come as much if the weather isn't as nice as the next weekend could be.

But overall, if the weather is cold, but dry, I'd expect to see the crowds still come.

Maybe if the temps were in the 30s or lower, there might be a more noticeable effect. But with 60's and if it is sunny, I'd say expect normal (whatever that means given the current environment) crowds. I doubt 60's will keep many from coming.

We had some days in the 60s last weekend and we didn’t notice a difference. The only day we noticed lighter crowds was due to rain and a tornado warning that had expired at 8:30am.

Our park days are Mon-Wed so better average daytime temp but those mornings & evenings are going to be chilly. Still warmer than our IL weather, but I also need to figure out the best layers to bring

We packed my daughters bag last night, I’m bringing hand warmers, gloves, and hats… we are also bringing out winter coats, I’m a bit ugh about it but I think we will need them!

Was just there with same temperatures. My advice is:

Dress in layers vs. wearing one big coat. Wear a T-shirt, Sweater, Jacket, Scarf and definitely wear a hat. When the sun is out you'll find yourself removing some of the items so maybe bring a backpack if you don't have a stroller or be prepared to wrap some of the items around your waist. Then, when in the shade, you will be cold again and happy to have a scarf and/or hat, etc!

Remember you can order hot drinks. I read on the DFB Blog they've been selling hot cocoa at some of the stands because of the weather. Of course Joffrey's has hot decaf tea and all kinds of hot coffees.

Make sure upon arrival that the heat works in your room. Ours didn't. We had maintenance over two times to fix it on check-in day because I was insistent that it blow hot air knowing that it was already cold and temperatures were about to plummet more and we'd be freezing if it wasn't fixed.

Remember you can have housekeeping deliver more blankets if the ones on your bed are too "skimpy" for you. We did this.

This weekend is both Rock the Universe and the two largest unofficial Harry Potter meetups. Both parks are likely to be crowded.

On the bright side, if you like cosplay, both HP areas will be filled with folks cosplaying.

Love Harry Potter but not a cosplayer. I knew about Rock the Universe (and moved my trip by a day to get one park day off of the weekend, but that’s all my schedule would allow.) It will be what it will be— and better than nothing!
