Cold today in WDW?

On a trip 10 years ago or so, we went for Presidents Week and I was convinced based on the forecast that there was no need for long pants. Well, a cold snap came through, and I froze for two full park days.

Morale of the story..If you are going to WDW at a time when there is any chance for "cold" nights based on historical weather data, take a least one pair of jeans. This is even more important if you don't have a car. While WDW can always roll out racks of sweatshirts during a cold snap, there is little to no chance of finding a pair of long pants on WDW property.

I'm trying to process wondering about the weather at WDW when I'm not there :) That's like my father-in-law that calls us from 1/2way across the country and first thing tells us what our weather is like! :)

WDW has sweatpants at all the larger gift shops.

We had snow flurries here in north Florida this morning, you could barely see them but they were there, it's 1:30 in the afternoon and only 40 degrees and windy

This Friday is 90% rain and t-storms. Looks like it might be a very wet day. We will still do a park since this is one of our two days. If you had to pick one park over another for a rainy day which would it be?

TIA

MK, most rides are indoor and rides are close to each other.

I hate to admit that we got caught in cold weather last November - 2 days of Cold! I only brought tshirts, capris, and a thin jacket. I made fun of my husband for bringing his heavy sweater. I tried to buy a heavy sweatshirt, but the Florida sweatshirts are not any where close to being warm enough! Something to keep in mind. Florida's idea of winter clothing is not like Minnesota's!! duh. I wouldn't pay $40 for a thin sweatshirt, so I wore my husband's sweater for 3 days over all my clothes. I guess the moral of the story is, always bring a heavy sweatshirt and jeans, always! Also have a wonderful husband who lets you wear his only sweater for 3 days:)

I am surprised how often people post about how unexpectedly cold they are while at WDW and completely unprepared, then while there needing to go out and pay top price for warmer clothes. Weather forecasts 5-7 days in advance are not perfect, but the general temperatures should be in the range. Unlikely that a 5-7 day forecast of 70s will become 50s without some advance updated forecast notice. I suspect many visitors think Florida and pack for warm and sun regardless of time of year or not even looking at forecast whereas Florida temps in fall through early spring can be variable. So if you look before you leave home and pack accordingly you should be ready, in the past we made adjustments in our clothing as needed the day before departing. In December 2014 the forecast in advance called for cooler evenings as low as the 40s, so we packed jackets, light gloves, hat and sweat tops - and were then ready to change as needed for evening events. We even packed tshirts, shorts and bathing suits that we never used as most days did not get above 70 at all.
Another survivor of the freezing Dec 2010 here...but we had packed sweaters, hats gloves etc, and had people stopping us all over asking where we bought them. Even in this thread you have people saying they are used to really cold/negative temps at home so 50 at WDW is going to be warm. It just isn't that simple. Pack some layers, and hats/knit gloves don't take up a lot of room and go a long way for chilly/damp mornings/nights.

Well...one good reason is that 50 degrees in Florida, in Dec/Jan sure feels a lot colder than 50 degrees in Mass!! I'm pretty sure that a lot of folks see the forecast and figure it will be fine...after all, they just wear a long sleeved shirt at home when it's 55!! Not in central Fl though. That humidity makes it seem much colder and raw! And if you're in Epcot, near the lake? Even colder.

Like bumbershoot....I rode Flight of the Hippograph that Dec...in the early morning. I thought my face was going to fall off!!!! Not taking any chances next week.....all jeans/long sleeved shirts/turtlenecks/sweatshirts, with a few short sleeved shirts thrown in, just in case!!! And no sandals for me...although my dd is bringing her flip-flops. Brrrrrr.

Here now.....VERY windy and it is a cold wind!!
High of 53 with wind chill making it 44 :cold:

It is 71 at home :( But I brought my coat and an under coat and gloves so I am ready to go with whatever comes my way

There is a big difference between Florida cold and home cold. We regularly have temps in the teens and below, doesn't mean I want to go outside and have fun in it. We are survivors of the infamous 2010 FL cold. We had a good time, but give me the FL heat any time!

it was cold today - I brought us all coats etc but dh was without a hat - he is now the proud owner of a boba fett knit hat that has mickey ears - kind of hard to take him seriously when he wiggles the ears!

Yesterday was cold, but this morning was *freezing!!!* I mean, we're from the Chicago area and are used to cold temps, but it was seriously frigid. We ended up buying hats and gloves for the kids but had to hunt them down because many of the shops were sold out by like 9:30 am. It's manageable now (at 4:30), but I'm glad we made it through this morning. The cold hasn't affected the crowds through. It's packed today.
