Hi all, maybe you can help me, help my mom... she needs to make a "Coke cake" for a friend of hers... her friend told her that the cake takes coke, and coco, but other than that she wasn't sure.

So anyone know how to make a Coke cake? Can a box cake mix be used?

I will most likely be helping her, if not making it for her. So if you could help that would be great!

Thanks

Here is the recipe that Cracker Barrel uses:

I have also made cakes using chocolate cake mix, 1 can of diet coke and egg whites...this is a weight watcher recipe. The Cracker Barrel one is much better!

Or you could sprinkle the white powder over any old cake.... Heheheheee

Don't know what it's made of but a friend of mine works there and calls it Crack Cake. :lmao:

Thanks, I knew I would get some good info here!

I'll have to ask her where she is going to get the "coke" that we will put on top of the cake!:lmao: Wonder what she will say!:rotfl2:

Well, then you'd have to make "pot" brownies to go with it. ;)

I'll ask her if she has some "pot" to make brownies with to go with it...... I am really wondering what she is going to say about all of this!

Looks like I am going to make the cake for her. She doesn't bake a whole lot, but I love to bake, so I usually bake what ever she is in need of! I'll let you all know how it turns out and what she says about "coke and pot".... :thumbsup2

Tomorrow is the day that I make the cake... Yes, I am making it for my mom! She decided that we should make 2. So we are going (I am going) to make 2 different recipes and see which is better!

I'll let everyone know how it all turns out!

Thanks

I'm intrigued...does the cake taste like Coke, or does it just sweeten it? Because I loves me some coke, seriously. :drinking1

It really doesn't taste the coke...the one from Cracker Barrel is really moist and just yummy! I may have to go there at some point and see if they are serving it now (it is seasonal) because now I am craving it!!!

I've never had the cake, or heard of it for that matter till my mom asked me about it!

The lady she is making it for says that if you use something other than Coke, you can tell in the taste. But I don't know!

I am not a COKE drinker... I LOVE MY:love: PEPSI!! But am very interested in how this will turn out!

I will be making it this afternoon sometime....... have to run across town after lunch to pick up some meds..............

LOL - I am with the person who immediately though - is this like pot brownies?

I can't wait to hear how it turns out!

I remember the cool chemical reaction when the coke hits the baking soda.

I almost forgot to let everyone know how things went!

OK, first of all you have to understand that nothing can be easy here at this house... things are always crazy.......

I started with the "Coca-Cola Chocolate Cake" (trade mark cake)

It says to make it in an 11x17 inch pan. Well we didn't have a pan of that size. My thought was to make it in a couple smaller pans since I have lots of the glass ones.......... well, my mom said that I should make it on the cookie sheet type pan (jelly roll style, 1" sides) since the pan is like 14x17 or something like that. She thougth this way it could serve more. Ok, the pan is bigger which makes it thinner, shouldn't have to bake as long... good to go.

Well, as I am pouring it into the pan I think to myself, "self, it doesn't look like this is all going to fit... maybe we should put some in another pan and the kids can all try it" good thinking self. The sheet was filled about 1/2 way up. I put the goods in the oven and set the timmer. Well I decide to take a look at it to see how things are going and the cake is up over the sides about an inch! It looks like it's going over the edge. I can't leave well enough alone so I try and pull it from the back wall where it looks like it's touching. When I do that, it spills over all edges!

What a mess, so I decide to just leave it alone, like I should have in the first place and it finishes baking and I pull it out of the oven, it looks good and smells good, but the pan is a bit of a mess. I cut the over spill off and put the frosting on and the thing looks pretty good!

One down, one to go! Then I went on to make the Cracker Barrel cake... that one went pretty smooth. But the frosting was really runny and there seemed to be tons of it! But it looked good as well.

So then my mom and dad came to pick them up so she can take them with her tomorrow and she see's how the big one turned out and says that she will take both of them, but thinks that the big one is going to be enough after all! So looks like tomorrow night we will be having some coke cake!

All and all, the oven isn't that bad. All that is spilled should just scrape out of there since the oven was on all afternoon! Since I made the 2nd cake and then put dinner in there, it was on for hours!

I'll update again tomorrow afternoon after the cake is served and let you know what everyone says!

The kids and I did try the edges that I cut off, it was alright... It really has a cinnamon taste, I like cinnamon, but it was almost over powering. We do have a small cake from the Coca-cola cake since I did think there was to much to go into that pan! But will save it till at least Friday when daddy comes home from his TDY!
