coffee situation

Does anyone know whether there are coffee makers in the category 7 (navigator's veranda) rooms? I have to have my dark roast Starbucks in the morning! Absent the coffee maker, I suppose I could bring a little one-cup drip and filters...can you get room service to deliver hot water in the morning?

Three weeks to go to our 3 day WDW, 4 day Wonder!

There are no coffee makers in the rooms but you could call room service for hot water.

I am a morning person and enjoyed going up on deck every morning to get my coffee - made tea occasionally. It is so peaceful up on deck 9 in the early morning. The danish and cinnamon rolls are great too. Room Service is available too.

Along the same line, how is the coffee? We enjoy ours very dark and very strong. I know not all others would concur. Is there a choice? Do we need to plan on bringing our own?

I am pretty picky about my coffee, and generally don't like the coffee that is served in even the best hotels and resorts. I like dark roast, strong or even not so strong, it just has to be dark roast arabica coffee. French Roast or Dark Roast is about as close as I've found in places other than Starbucks, Seattle's Best, etc., but you can't even get that most of the time in resorts. Therefore, I prefer to bring my own when traveling.

The last time I did the Disney Land/Sea was in the fall of 2000, and I didn't like the coffee at that time. I don't know if they have changed since then, but I don't mind bringing my own as long as I can get the hot water from Room Service.

I'm sure this must strike some as kind of silly, but frankly I'm surprised it hasn't been raised before, given how ubiquitous Starbucks is in the US. However, this board is great.

Fair. I think life is too short to drink bad beer or bad coffee... and I was not particularly impressed by the coffee or the orange juice onboard. The improvement in quality in the coffee and orange juice at the Palo Brunch are both good reasons to do the Palo Brunch.

The orange juice on board is certainly not fresh squeezed (except maybe Palo). In the dining rooms I always have them mix O.J. and cranberry and it goes down much easier.

Is the hot water really hot enough to make coffee? This sounds like one of the more important tips I've found on this board. Good coffee is, well, one of our necessities of life.

I think maybe you should add coffee maker to your packing list cuz the hot water from room service is great for tea but those bags have to soak a while!!!

I'll admit it - I'm addicted to coffee! I got a 4 cup coffee maker from Amazon for about $12. My MIL and I plan on sitting on our verandah and enjoying a cup of "real" coffee, not the Nescafe on board. I figure we'll be going to bed late and getting up early, so we're gonna need a boost!

Delighted to know we're not the only ones who'd be miserable without a decent cup of coffee. I'm looking for a compact coffeemaker as we speak.

Thanks for the great replies to my post. I've made coffee before with tea temperature water and while not great it is still more drinkable than the other stuff.

However, I'm mulling over bringing a coffee maker. I seem to recall reading a suggestion about bringing extension cords as the outlets are few and far between, so would assume that applies in this case as well, given how short the cords are.

Extension cords make a lot of sense. Thanks for the reminder. They're easy enough to pack. I'm really starting to look forward to coffee on the veranda.

I went through Starbucks withdrawl until I discovered that the bars make a very nice caffe mocha - starting at 9am - a bit late for me.

Its close - I asked for a double shot and whipped cream. It is the closest thing on the high seas!

For those of you who love Starbucks coffee at home - the Starbucks coffee maker is outstanding. The steel carafe keeps the coffee hot and fresh for hours. They just came out with a personal size unit.

I have to tell all of you that after our first Disney Magic cruise, when asked how the food/drink was, I emphatically answered that the coffee was THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD! I asked what kind it was and was told only that it was Columbian. After I commented one evening after dinner that I LOVED the coffee, the following morning our server was pouring a cup for me before I even sat in my chair! It brightened my morning and thrilled me after dinner! Whereas we ALWAYS take our own coffee along with us when we are in hotels, we didn't on the ship, as we didn't think they would have a coffee maker in the cabins.

I'll tell you what I WAS disappointed in -- I am an avid iced tea drinker and the iced tea was TERRIBLE! It was just the kind you get in the soda dispensing machines (Nestea) and very disappointing. I was hoping for freshed brewed. So on our last Disney Magic Cruise, I mentioned this and our server found a solution. He brought me the tea bag assortment box and I selected a Lemon Zinger and he brought me the hot water and a glass with ice and I "brewed" my own at every meal. It was WONDERFUL! I didn't even have to ask -- he was right there with it every time.
