coffee situation

Dave, the link you posted brought up a Kohler White Cast Iron Double Bowl Kitchen Sink. What ,not enough sink space in the cabins?lol:confused:

We are from the Seattle area, first thing on my packing list wwas a coffee maker, and not a little 4 cup one. We got a 12 cup at
bi-mart for 8.88! Bringing my own strong coffee.:p

This will be our first DLC cruise. Before I pack it, Does anyone know if there's room to put a coffee maker. I keep reading that rooms are a little tight.

There would be almost no room for a coffee maker unless you were in a suite. While the DCL cabins are above average in size, they are not as big as a standard motel room. I have been reading this thread wondering where you folks would put this coffee maker. Most of the Disboarders take an over the door shoe holder so they will have enough room for storing necessary items they take.
I love good strong coffee and really have never thought DCL coffee was all that bad.
FOJMO - You are correct. That iced tea is nasty. You can be arrested in SC for trying to pass that colored water off as tea.
Dave - Loved the sink.

Have a great day all. I am off for my third cup of the morning.

My recollection is that there is sufficient space on the desk. Presumably if you were able to fit it in your suitcase to bring it, you should be able to put it back in your suitcase to store it, if you don't want to leave it out.

Dave's website has a discussion on extension cords and electrical outlets at the following link.

IMO, the coffee on the ship is great if you are a fan of the kind of coffee served at, for example, Dunkin' Donuts (nothing wrong with that - I know there are people who can't live without it!). If, on the other hand, you prefer dark roast coffee similar to Starbucks, you will be disappointed. Two completely different tastes.

If it is against the rules to bring an iron, why would it not be wrong to bring a coffee maker. They both have heaters rated at about 1500 watts which is the maximum for 115VAC. Would the fire hazard not be about the same. Just thinking out loud here.

By the way, my wife thought the desk was a vanity and used it for such. That's the reason I did not see room for a coffee maker.

About your link Dave, my sentiments exactly!!!!

I'm still laughing! :p

To me this is a time to get away from my normal life. Not truge the whole thing along. Learn to live without the special coffees for a week. :D

Yes Dave is correct...in all the photos I have seen there is plenty of room on the desk for a coffee maker. Anyone sailing right after us? I will be looking for someone to give my coffee maker to. after we get back LOL
:)

It's a shame that cruisers have to think about bringing a coffee maker along to get a decent cup of coffee on board.

Now I love Disney, but this is not the first time that Disney's corporate sponsorship with Nestle/Carnation has irked me. :(

I will be sure to note on my comment card that they should have more coffee alternatives to Nescafe. It's bad enough that Nestle's corporate marketing policies have led to thousands boycotting them worldwide, but Nescafe is a very mediocre coffee!

Sorry folks, but life is too short. I think that for one week I can do without my Starbucks and simply enjoy a weak, tasteless cup of Joe or instant orange juice. Leave the coffee makers at home and save space for all those gifts you will be bringing back for the loved ones left behind.

Unpack that silly coffee maker & you will be able to bring your sister lots of presents! lol :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p

Ok Rootee you don't need to double post your thread to get your point across:rolleyes: and Katesdad, all my loved ones are going along with us:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: . What I guess I will have to do is slowly whean my wife on Nescafe over the next year until our Sept 2003 voyage because it is Katie bar the doors in the morning with out her cup or two of Seattles finest:mad:

Dave's wonderful kitchen sink visual notwithstanding, I was wondering when all of you naysayers were going to come out of the woodwork and give me a hard time about this...

I'll definitely be bringing my Starbucks - haven't yet decided about the coffee maker. We'll see how much room I have.

Re: Nestle/Carnation - one of the ways Disney makes money is by leveraging their purchasing volume to negotiate agreements with big vendors, which reduces their costs significantly. I would imagine Nestle has a more upscale coffee product, however, and we should encourage Disney to make it available (I wouldn't mind paying extra for it, similar to paying for alcoholic drinks) in those comment cards we fill out at the end of the cruise. Maybe they could add it in time for DisneySlave!

For those who have commented that life is too short, etc., we all have our own priorities and make our own choices. Life IS too short. I'm sure there are those who wouldn't want to have to go without alcohol for a whole week!

And I was holding back. :)

Do without alcohol? Easily! Don't drink alcoholic products, find just the odor of beer repulsive. Don't smoke, or other substances. Yes, I am very much an overgrown boy scout. And, honestly have all but eliminated soda products out of my diet too, mostly due to my trips away from home.

But what I said was, that a vacation is a time to leave your life at home for a time. I am a major electronics nut, and, I find it hard to leave the electronic stuff behind, but now I do. You miss out on really relaxing and experiencing the trip if you have to stop and maintain habits tied to the life you have at home. Explore and try new ones, instead of looking at it as Disney is forcing you to do something. :/

Okay, folks, this is beginning to get a little ugly and I'm not sure why.

I fall into the ranks of the folks who prefer good coffee. As I said earlier in this thread and perhaps in another thread, I think the coffee onboard is a little disappointing. And as far as the "life is too short" references... I've said that life is too short to drink bad beer or bad coffee. That being said, would I haul a coffee maker with me in order to get my Starbucks fix? No... that's why I made the joke about the kitchen sink. But joking aside... I don't see any reason to criticize somebody who decides that it's personally worthwhile to bring their coffeemaker. If good coffee is that important to them, then it would be worthwhile for them.

So... what more could be said?
