Coffee making at resorts?

I'm a real coffee freak (burr grinder, full beans etc) at home, and when on holiday in the UK I take my own coffee machine etc with me (sad, i know!). Instant coffee makes me heave! In the States I rely upon the availability of decent fresh coffee at starbucks etc, but wonder what the facilities are at DCR? I presume there are no coffee makers in the cabins, but did I read something about being able to hire them? And, at DCR, can you buy a good cuppa early? (I usually rise at 600 or so). Finally, if I was sad enough to take my Starbucks filter grinder and beans with me, would the machine work at French voltages?

Any thoughts?

In the cabins you have a drip filter jug so you can use that with fine grinds to get a decent cup of joe.
No sure about the voltage issue so can't help with that question

Oh, I'm not sure that anything in DCR is open that early since you collect your breakfasts from huts in each trail so restaurant/bars are not open early.

I'm glad you asked this question, it's made me realise that I'll be a whole week without my own coffee that keeps me going every day!! I too hate instant, it's vile!!
Does anyone know what the coffee is like at breakfast at Explorers?
If I can start the day with a good one then I'll survive...

If the coffee grinder is from the UK, it will be the same voltage as what we use as we get some of our electricity from the french! All you need was a UK to Europe adaptor as they earth their sockets instead of the plugs.

Here is what I do when no coffeemaker in the room, as in most of Europe

• bring ground coffee from home
• use french press coffee cup purchaed at Starbucks in America
• boil water with kettle; if hotel has no kettle, boil water with heating coil

I survive for weeks or months at a time using that method, which produces an excellent coffee. Alternately, you could bring a small filter and paper filters - Melita makes a very small size filter.

I actually found the coffee at the machines in the breakfast rooms to be far superior to what is on offer at the parks in America. The coffee from the machines in France is a darker roast and stronger overall.

Can't comment on the coffee in the parks as I didn't have any. But I did enjoy a latte from Bella Notte.

I'm usually so grateful for a cuppa so long as it's hot and wet I just grin and bear it!!! Although we did manage to get some fresh milk rather than UHT in the garage one time.

Milk in France is fine, no problems

The milk is fine but some people aren't used to longlife milk. So it is a bit of a shock to them

I'm also a java fan and was sorely pee'd off... there's only Nescafe from blimmin' machines throughout the parcs, and the single proper "coffee shop" was closed last week - I had a peek and it didn't look like it had been open this season. It's half way up Main St. on the right in a recessed alley.

I was gagging for a decent brew by the time we went to Paris on Friday

... sigh... ah well, at least we'll start the days with a decent brew - we'll take some ready ground Starbucks with us for the cabin filter press. And I reckon with one or two visits to Paris, and a drive across to La Vallee we shouldn't do too badly.

errr... we went to La Vallee for dinner one evening. On the walk from the station to the food court I didn't see a coffee shop on the ground level.. you may be able to catch a bakery just as they shut (9PM last week), and the sub-ground level was more "local" shops, not €€€ coffee shops.

The outlet mall shuts at 9PM
