COCKROACH at value hotel

No.

They inferred nothing. Inference is on behalf of the reader/listener. The writer/speaker cannot be responsible for what the reader/listener infers.

However, neither person I quoted was implying anything positive, negative, or neutral about the OP. One poster made a general observation, another poster responded to it, and I quoted and responded to both of those.

That you inferred anything - any word, any opinion, any thought - was in any way directed at the OP is YOUR interpretation, not ours.

Yes they can just read Socrates. The author/speaker can lead the targeted audience to any inference. Also others (including you) were writing in a fashion to demean any who complain. A consumer always has a right to bring any issue to the seller. Just because you don't, you shouldn't deman others that do.

"As I walk away feeling superior because I complained." :lmao:

DON'T tell me how or what I was writing.

Sillyminny made an observation/posed a question (note that we are so far from the original post that she had forgotten the OP mentioned anything about tipping).
Tiki Room Fan responded to that post.
I, in turn, quoted and replied to both of THOSE posts.

Please cite any post in this thread where anybody indicates a consumer does not have a right to bring any issue to the seller. It appears that not only are you inferring things not being intended, but you are also reading things not being written.

I NEVER said I don't bring issues to the attention of the business (see "... at any rate, I stopped at the front desk on my way to the park and mentioned the bugs").

My room at SSR was not handicap-accessible; I immediately called Member Services. My next room, at OKW, was, but did not have beds low enough for me to get into. I immediately called the Front Desk, and Engineering called me back; we worked out a solution.

So I dont know where you're getting the impression I don't bring issues to the attention of the proper personnel. I don't freak, even at the bugs (any more - I learned, after that two-foot-long [yes, it grows every time I tell the story] monster invaded my CSR room, that hysteria doesn't help).
"There are little black bugs crawling around my bathroom floor; that's not acceptable."
"This isn't the accessible room I was guaranteed; can you please help me?"
"I can't get into bed - it's too high. I've heard the box spring can be removed; is that possible?" ("I don't know, but we'll have someone from Maintenance call you right back, or we can see if the studio you had last time is available").

So, has anyone ever seen a mouse in their resort room at WDW? The CMs would have to very carefully handle that situation.

I said dusting DAILY.
Dusting sure and I didn't say it was extra.
I said she probably got the cleaning standards they are supposed to do daily.

And at a Deluxe the maids do go out of their way a do a little more extra.
Like towel animals or chocolate on pillow, ect. I consider that extra and deluxe treatment.
I've stayed at all levels of resorts, each several times and you do notice the difference.

Wow ......... :snooty:

I have stayed at all levels of resorts, and I did not notice a difference. My room at the Poly didn't appear any cleaner to me than my room at the All Star Sports. The only towel animals I got at the Poly were premade, and waiting in the room at check in. However at the Sports our housekeeper was creative, and had the kid's stuffed animals watching tv on the beds when we came back at night.

I'm not sure I would consider tossing a piece of candy on someone's pillow giving them the deluxe treatment.

We just got back and had a great experience at the World (our first) but I have to say that I FREAKED when we finally arrived in Florida from Seattle. We had our four little girls (it was 10pm) and we found cockroaches in our room at "All Star Music." I had a horrible experience with the room assigner when I called to ask for a room in a different building. I WAS NOT PAYING to sleep with BUGS!! She was rude and told me too bad and that they didn't have any other rooms! I told her I was marching up
to the desk and that if they didn't have a new room for us immediately I would start telling everyone in that hotel about the cockroaches! By the time I got there the manager (who the room assigner said was too busy to talk to me) had already found us another room across the street (still at Music) It was super loud until 1am due to kid partying in the streets (not near the pool-- we were in broadway--). I was in tears. One of my children is very, very asthmatic and we had to walk past the smoking section to get to the busses and food court -- it was just awful. The next day my husband complained and the manager (who was really nice and understanding) paid for a character meal. He felt bad for us and was quite nice. We had many great experiences and some really great cast members treat us wonderfully. I wouldn't recommend "All Star Music" though. The mousekeeper (who I tipped $5) didn't ever leave animals for us and really did only the minimum. The dust on the entertainment center was so bad I took a picture after I drew a mickey head with my finger in the dust. I'll post that soon. I liked the bus system, it was easy. I liked the food court too. The pool was nice. We LOVED the World but hated All Star Music! I wish I had stayed at Pop Century.

Unlike some of the pp's, I am assuming that the OP was not at all polite to the staff -- arriving at 10 pm and demanding a different room because she saw bugs? And that the room assigner wouldn't let her speak to the manager so they were "horrible" -- although by the time she had "marched" up to the front desk the manager was available, which I guess means that they had returned from break, changed shifts, or finished dealing with another customer.

Worst of all, the OP had never been to WDW, had never stayed at ASMu, and is now trashing the reputation of the entire hotel. We stayed there last year, will be staying there next week, and will likely stay there again.

No, you don't have to walk through the smoking areas to get everywhere in the resort. There was never noise at 1 am, but as the OP didn't mention that that happened every night, it must have been a one time thing.

We had no problems with any of the staff. We didn't get towel animals, but I certainly wouldn't complain about that -- some staff do it, some don't (if it was that big a deal to her, she should have politely asked for them) Maybe people should consider that the housekeeping staff (regardless of the chain of hotels you are staying at) have only a limited amount of time for each room. If they have to go above and beyond to clean your room every day, or if you don't make it easy for them to get around your stuff to vacuum etc., they just are not going to have enough time to do anything extra. Having said that, if they are especially busy with a lot of changeovers that day, you may just get the minimum. Dusting is included in the minimum, true, but rather than sully the reputation of the entire hotel, I would have politely brought it to somebody's attention -- we also don't know whether this was a one time event, or if the room was never dusted during their entire stay. Or maybe this was a room that the resort had not intended to use until they were forced to for fear that this woman would go around telling everyone that there were cockroaches in the hotel.

This may sound harsh, but since she stated that she had been travelling all day from Seatle with 4 kids, none of which is the fault of the staff, and was "Freaking" and "in tears" at 10 pm at night, I have to conclude that she was not the most gracious guest that the staff had dealt with that day. It is not as if they knew there were bugs in the room but gave it to her anyway.

I agree with what many of the posters have said: there are bugs in tropical locations. Jeez, I hope the OP never comes to Nova Scotia -- we have bears.

I have only read the first few pages and I suppose I am amazed by the number of people who expect bugs in their rooms because it is Florida. (If I misread the posts, I truly apologize.) I have family and friends who live in FL and have visited at a minimum of 2 times a year for about 35 years. Visits in the last 10 years have been much more frequent with extra trips to the Mouse and Universal. I am very familiar with Florida's weather, nature, etc. Bugs are a matter of life in Florida but I have never experienced a palmetto bug or coackroach in my room and/or villa. I have lost count of the number of visits I have made to the Mouse and those visits involved stays at more than one onsite resort. If I had encountered an insect of that size in my room, like the OP, I would immediately be contacting the front desk to report it as well. The front desk should have been more "customer" friendly in that first call from the OP. It is not unreasonable for people to expect bug free rooms. Would I chalk it up to the Florida ecosystem? Yes, but it still does not make it acceptable if a paying guest has issues with it. I'm glad the CM stepped up to the plate and eventualy moved them.

Maybe I was "inferring" and not telling. Yelling does not make your point more valid. :happytv:  :confused3 :mic:
Again, nobody can be responsible for what you infer; and if you consider capitalizing one word and stressing one other word in a several hundred word post "yelling", well, that too is your interpretation. The writer's (my) intention, on the other hand, is to stress two words in the response in question.

The OP - along with some other participants in this thread - is probably not aware that despite (probably) pushing the speed-dial button on the phone for Front Desk, or pressing 0 - for operator - that her call most likely went to a Call Center, and not to the resort's Front Desk.

In addition, it would seem to me that room assignments would be processed during normal business hours, based on expected arrivals which are based on reservations. Room assignor does not seem like a position that would be staffed at/around/after 10 PM, on any day.

Expect? No. Understand that/why there might be? Yes. Try to explain this to people who might not realize the possibility, or why? Sure, why not?

Holy cow, I would die!! I'm one of those 'northerners' that can't take the bugs, let alone a lizard!!! God forbid I ever see a snake down there, that would be it for me. :scared1: I need to toughen up I guess :)

:) Hey I'm from NJ too, just like you. I hate bugs and when we moved South I cried a few times the first week. It was summer and very buggy. Then I got a bug contract and that was that for the most part. they have snakes here too :crazy2:. I need to move home to NJ.

My sister lived in Orlando for years...their house was extremely clean, but I could guarantee you any time during the night...if you went to the kitchen to get a glass of water...a palmetto bug would be sitting right in the middle of the floor.

We didn't see any bugs in our room, but we did see what looked like an ARMADILLO walk across the pool area, from one bush to another.

That's how we know we've reached the deep south...you see more Armadillo roadkill than opossums.
