Coaches gift ideas?

I think there is a difference between a "coach" and someone who helps out. Especially if its another kid or a peer/child. I think of coaches as adults... There are many parents who couls also fall into this catagory. If so, a card signed by the kids might suffice.... No matter what - the people who are there to help out do it bacuse they want to be there - not becuase they will/might get soemthing at the end of the season...

I know what you mean, they don't expect it but I sure hate to leave people out. It just threw me at the time. A bit of explaining might help too. Head coach has three sons, 19, 17 and 13. The 19 and 17 year old helped the year previous and actually ran some practices when dad/head coach could not, with the okay of all and help of some of the parents. A lot of the boys already knew them and definitely respected them.

Thanks for the input though, I appreciate it. I still like that idea of a scrapbook. Actually dug through some photos I took during the season. I probably could have put one together if this thread was here 6 months ago. I will most definitely be prepared next year, especially if he has the same coaches (which I hope for, seriously great guys).

Oh I see - It wasnt clear in the last post. Maybe a $10 GC to an ice cream place, Itunes or whatever. Its less than $1 per parent or even a $5Macdonalds card is a nice gesture!! I like the scrapbook idea too!! I was actually looking back at some team pictures the other days from a few years back.. Many of the High School stand out players were on my team then in Middle School and it was fun to see them then... and now. I wish I had a collection of photos of the teams I have coached over the years... ;)

I gave gift cards to Dunkin Donuts last year. I might do Panera this year instead or stick with the DD. People seem to like those.

As a team mom, I have done different things, but one that the coach just loved was a scrapbook - it was done very simply with paper in the team colors. I put in a couple pages of team/game pictures, then had a page for each child where they wrote a thank you note to the coach. I asked each parent for a picture of their child from the season to put on their page. ALmost all the supplies I had already, but did collect $2 per family for the album and some stickers (used Michaal's coupon). No one minded such a little amount and everyone loved the idea of having their child thank the coach.

:thumbsup2 My sister did this for a girl scout leader. She loved it. I was think of doing this for the coaches of my DD basketball them this year.

I have been team mom for 4 years for my son's football team so have had to get many gifts (there are usually 5 - 6 coaches per team). I have done team photo on a mug, mousepad, I did photobook from Shutterfly for all the coaches with pictures throughout the year and each kid on the team had their own page and they wrote something to each coach, and this year I got chairs that you take to watch your kids play their sports (they fold up and you can carry them around)...I used paint pens to draw the team logo on the back and wrote "Coach" on the front. Then I had all the players sign the chairs with their name and number on it. We haven't given them to the coaches yet, but once our season is over, they will get them. Parents are really liking this one. I also found the chairs for $8 each, so it wasn't expensive at all.
