Co-workers who drive you crazy

i used to work with a grown woman who would meow in your face, for no reason. :cat:

You don't happen to work for a cable company in NH do you? If so, I am sure that is my husband! :rotfl: He annoys the heck out of me with that song! Darn you Family Guy!

Oh, my DH used to do this ALL of the time!! Only the strongest of threats stopped him!! :headache:

I had a boss that would literally pat my head and say "Good girl!" I wanted to kick her.

I currently have a coworker who has been on the job 25+ years. Not only is he a know-it-all on EVERY subject (I could make something up and he could yap on about it endlessly) but he also complains about EVERY aspect of work. Nobody but him can do their job, every repair should have been done a different way, everything new should have been done a different way. Hardly a word comes out of his mouth that isn't a criticism of something. However, when it comes to legitimate complaints that need to be passed on to management he turns into a total wuss and starts whining about something completely different from what he wants to say. Management ends up confused and he has wasted so much meeting time complaining about the wrong thing that the issue isn't settled. Also, if he is accused of ANYTHING, no matter how minor, he will defend himself and take anyone and everyone down to keep himself out of trouble. He once told the boss I hit him and repeatedly attacked him physically (we got into a verbal argument she called him out on) to the point he was bruised. I NEVER hit him! I was on the verge of being in huge trouble and possibly being fired until I convinced the boss he was lying. (He is 6'3" and I am 5'4" and FEMALE.) That was over a year ago and he still blabs to anyone who will listen about how I bruised him when I punched him repeatedly. He really believes it, too.

The guy who leaves candy in my office all the time and gets upset when I don't eat it and is always showing up on my breaks (which are just after his). He thinks it's funny:confused3 In fact he was just staring through my window. I have my office door shut.

Just picturing him gazing through your window made me chuckle . I wonder if he was thinking, "Please please please, eat my candy!!"

Where is it legal to give Smokers 2 more breaks than non smokers?? how is that okay? i would laugh if they told me that i got fewer breaks because i didnt smoke.... that is just ridiculous?!! You didnt ever complain about that policy?

My boss refers to herself as "mama". I hate that. Like, "Hey boss, what do you want done with xyz issue?" her: "Oh, give it to mama, I'll take care of it."

1. The guy who goes on and on about something you don't care about, or something you secretly know a lot about and you know he's incorrect in the "facts" he's been blabbering about.

2. The guy who smells absolutely disgusting!

3. The girl who's on the phone with dead beat boyfriend who she has 2 kids with (the first when she was 14 and he was 23!!!), this boyfriend doesn't work, stays home all day selling drugs (around the kids), playing video games... and the worst of it is that he's doesn't cook, clean, do laundry or even take the kids to school! If she can't take the kids, her mom does!

4. The guy who's lived in the US for 17 years and still can't speak English well (I'm not a racist but seriously? if I lived in Austria for 17 years, I'd be very ashamed of myself for not being able to speak Austrian fluently), it's just frustration trying to communicate simple work related things and having to spend either extra time on some I shouldn't have to or the message being missed entirely.

I really like most of the people I work with but some of them... I can't stand.

I hate it when anyone talks like that and I think it's disgusting when couple call each other mama and daddy, ew.

I am in the family business. Dad retired 4 years ago and now its just me and my brother...

He can't do math, or read that well. can't write that well either. some sort of dyslexia that he refuses to get help for.

Mom and dad want to give the business to "their sons" which is admirable. but they want to give it 50/50!!! I have the license to sign the plats. I negotiate with the customers. I have all the experience and do all the calculations except a few of the most simple jobs. He runs the transit... and drafts a little. and they think he has earned half of the business....

they also are under the belief that no employee can rise above family as far as pay or ownership. we have had great people (employees) who have realized this... and left. One even gave me a BBE award! Best Boss Ever.

But it looks like I am leaving now, also. DW and I had great ideas to try and save the company in this economy, and they were shot down by the parents, who are still the owners. My 30+ years of dedication to this family business means nothing. lame-O brother and I are equal in their eyes...

Mikeeee

I'm soooooo sorry. I can only understand to an extent what you're feeling :(

I work with a bully. Staff are afraid to report her because she has retaliated in the past. Administration won't do anything because everyone is afraid of her, so they have no documentation. :sad2:

I work as an EMT, we do minimum 12 hour shifts but we rarely go back to station as we have roadside standby points. My crewmate talks constantly, not even about interesting stuff just rubbish. If she isn't talking to me she is phoning her friends even on nightshifts at 3am etc. She is also very untidy, the unwritten rule is whoever is driving sorts the back of the ambulance out at hospital whilst the attendant is booking the patient in. She never does it for me (she has been doing the job for many more years then me). The worse is that she eats loudly & with her mouth open. My 4 year old niece has better manners then her.

Its no wonder she has had many crew mates. I have only been with her pemanently 2 months & that is enough for me wanting to change

The woman who was the receptionist and later an admin where I used to work was disgusting. No nicer word.

Myself and three other coworkers had to rotate through shifts where we would cover for this woman to take 2 15 minute bathroom/smoke breaks and her 1 hour lunch. I HATED my days. Hated it.

Her 15 minute break would consist of her going outside for 30-45 minutes to smoke the entire time. She would light up one cigarette off of the other and just keep puffing away. She would always stand outside of the main office door, where it was clearly marked that you couldn't stand there and smoke. When she would come back in, the whole office would reek of smoke.

Her 1 hour lunch always dragged out to 1 1/2 hours or more. She would leave and sit in her car to smoke and listen to music the whole time (again lighting cigarettes one off of the other) and then 5 minutes before her lunch would be over she would drive off property to go buy lunch somewhere. She'd come back late and then say she needed to use the restroom first; no biggie if that was what she was actually doing. She would go outside and SMOKE MORE!

Then she'd come back to her desk and eat her lunch. She really shouldn't have been eating up at the front desk because she was the window to the world, but it didn't matter. She would constantly drop food and condiments all over the desk and not clean it up. The keyboard was caked with mayo, mustard, grease. Used utensils were all throughout her desk drawers, caked with food and bright red lipstick.

Once, I was standing at her desk talking to her after lunch and a roach ran across her desk. She smashed it with her bare hand, wiped her hand off on her pant leg and continued eating her sandwich (which she had laid down on top of the keyboard, no paper under it).

There were brown marks all over the carpet around her desk. Why? Because her feet would get sweaty so she would take her shoes off and rub her feet on the carpet.

I could go on and on about this woman. She was just gross. She was always complaining that she was sick and tired, and that her doctor said she had to live a healthier lifestyle and drink more water, etc. etc. She would tell us this as she was guzzling her Bubba Keg of Mickey D's sweet tea that she picked up on the way in to work.

I should add that all of this stuff happened on the days that she actually DID come to work. A lot of the time she would call out sick because she had a headache, her back hurt, she just was too tired to come in.

...she took a 20-minute smoke break EVERY hour. I am not exaggerating.

One of my jobs wonn't even hire you if you are a smoker because they don't want to deal with them taking extra/longer breaks to smoke-plus its working around food and they don't want the cigerette stink arond the food.

I hate it when anyone talks like that and I think it's disgusting when couple call each other mama and daddy, ew.

The guy across the street and his wife call each other "mother" and "father" which is even creepier than mama and daddy to me!!

At my job (not the food one!) we have a guy that thinks its funny to walk into the room, fart and walk out- god knows what he eats because he can clear a room in a minute. All of a sudden you could be sitting there talking to someone else and this horrible stink overpowers the whole room- its a fight seeing who can run out the door faster- its GROSS!!!
