her accident in a letter to her butler.

She said that there would be an "accident" so Charles could marry Camillia.

Won't this give Mohamad Al Fayed fuel for his fire!:earseek:

I'm waiting to hear more.

How sad. :(

I can never get over the fact that Prince Charles had the beautiful and gracious Diana and cheated on her for Camilla, who looks like such a stick in the mud. :p

Then again, he looks like a stick in the mud himself........

But she didn't die because of break failure. She died mainly because the driver of her car was intoxicated. The driver was also choosen by the Al Fayed's. The "Royals" had nothing to do with this.

If Diana had been wearing her seatbelt, there is a very good chance she would have survived.

I feel so bad for her boys. Such tender ages to loose their Mother.

Is the letter in a book about her? Where did you see that? just curious.

If there was a mechaical failure with the car, I don't think that would be made public, if its really a cover-up. Nothing would surprise me.

Also, even if the driver was legally drunk, I still think the paparazzi had a lot to do with the accident- the driver was speeding and swerving to get away from them. If they were not present, the driver would have probably drove at a normal speed.

Interesting that this is coming out 6 years later. I believe some of the sycophants around her do their best to keep themselves in the news. This may be legit but the timing is strange.

Okay, this is what I heard on CNN.

Diana's butler, Paul Burrel (sp?) has a book that's coming out. This letter is in his book. There is little doubt that it's in Diana's handwriting. She says that she thinks someone will try to kill her in a car accident by tampering with her brakes. (The name is blacked out for legal reasons.) This will free up Charles to marry Camilla. It was reportedly written 2 months after her divorce (10 months before her death).

What I really don't understand is why this butler waited all this time to make this known. Guess he was waiting until he finished his book  Way too coincidental for me.

I too think it was a horrible accident. My thought was that Al Fayed will go nuts with this.

I saw the story on CNN also. It was a little strange.

CNN did an interview with a British newspaper editor. Answered a lot of the questions raised here.

Wow.. I just read what CNN reported.. thanks for linking it here Olaf... I always thought it was just too darn suspicious.. how sad that those boys were robbed of their Mom at such a young age...and even worse still if there is a royal connection.. so sad..

I think they are making too much of it, to be honest. I think she just made an unlucky guess that she would die in a car accident. I imagine if she really took her 'premonition' all that seriously, she certainly would be more cautious...like wearing a seatbelt, having more responsible drivers...

I think this is just more trumped up garbage used to profit on her death..JMHO

And yet they remain unmarried.
I thought of this also.

The other thing was, with all the investigating going on back when she died, if this butler took this letter seriously, why didn't he release it to the authorities then? Why did he wait until he needed publicity for his book?

All in all a tragedy. To be killed by a drunk driver at such a young age with two young children.

I wonder why, if this is true, that it has not been revealed before.

I would think that Burrell would want to let Scotland Yard know about it, so that the accident could be investigated for any evidence of foul play.

And snoopy, I do agree that Diana was gorgeous, while Camilla is rather, well, plain.
But, by all accounts, Diana was also temperamental, moody, enormously insecure, histrionic, and probably depressed. Not to excuse Charles' behavior, of course, but I do think Diana was not easy to live with. And as we all know, it takes more than just looks to make a marriage work . . .

I agree with you Deb, she was a beautiful nut

To have had Princess Diana killed would not have "freed up" Charles to marry Camilla.

Her death in fact damaged the monarchy quite severely - you needed to have been here in UK to really feel the emotion and tide of anger against them and Camilla Parker-Bowles. It would have been easier in fact if Diana had simply married someone else and lived happily ever after and then there may have been a glimmer of a chance for Charles and Camilla.

I do not believe that there was any conspiracy on behalf of the monarchy to have Diana killed ( I'm sorry you think the Queen is capable of something like that), but they are guilty of treating Diana with gross insenitivity and putting monarchy before and above everything else.

She felt the full force of their anger for denting their public image, at making everything public knowledge, for not "putting up and shutting up" with the affair. She felt unloved by people who had previously embraced her into their family, and was totally ostracised. This left her, I think understandably, in a fragile emotional state. I think the handwritten note, (and it does look genuine), was written by someone who had lost perspective, and I think Burrell also knows that she developed a paranoia that was unfounded and therefore it was not as significant as some would like to believe now.

She did come out of that dark lonely period and unstable emotional state and was learning to enjoy life independently from The Firm. Then tragedy struck - she was in a car driven at a very high speed by a drunk driver in an effort to get rid of the paparazzi and not wearing a seat-belt

Diana made a great difference to the monarchy - whereas they weren't to the forefront of public interest before she came along, she brought - not only glamour - but a wonderful individuality and freshness and here was someone whose caring and nurturing qualities were on display. She was also very young. In fact, so used was Charles to being brought up to be Number One and being Number One, he actually resented the public clamour and attention Diana got whenever they went on public walkabouts.

So then, it should not be so surprising when a person like this, who does not get back what they give from the man and his family who matter to her most, has emotional problems.

Very true. I remember the day she died very well. It was the day we moved into our new home. Mother Teresa also died on that day. I felt it interesting that Mother Teresa's death was very much overshadowed by Diana's death. It does say a lot about our society doesn't it. Physical beauty seems to win over inner beauty every time.

A British newspaper, The Daily Mail, has an article this morning which outlines a lot of the questions that were never answered by the French investigation.

I have to admit that I've thought that Al Fayed was a nut. I never really looked into the conspiracy arguments. After reading Diana's letter and this article in The Mail, I have real questions myself.

At the very least, a thorough and open investigation needs to be conducted, otherwise the conspiracy theories will only increase. It certainly can't be good for the UK to have so many people believing their Royal Family was somehow involved in her death.

You know, both the celebs and the media make way too much of themselves. I agree it's a tragedy about Diana's untimely death and I do think she was making a contribution with her work with AIDS victims and landmind victims, but, this thing of playing cops and robbers with the guys out to sell stories and photos to the rag tabloids cost her her life and those two kids their one and only mom.

It wasn't worth it. She should have let them have their miserable photos. They got them anyway and now, they've just moved on to someone else, albeit maybe not as lucrative as Diana.

What an interesting article, Olaf. It certainly raises some questions. Whether or not there was a plot by anyone to harm Diana, it is odd the way the situation was handled--particularly the time to get to a hospital. So sad for her boys. :(
