First before I forget - thanks to Marshay also for the shout-out!

Ann - Thanks! It's my first attempt at a personal website.

I know there's a "fleagle-imposed" no more talking nice about fleagle, but he was my inspiration. When I was sitting here all bummed about the contest, I thought it was cool he could send people to his site to get more info about him.

I've always wanted to register my full name, so on Feb 22nd I did it! Since the whole cmo thing has been my obsession, it's the main focus of the site so far.

I'm not sure I can get you a site like that, but if you are serious about a cat-o-tar I'll give it a shot! Either post a picture here, or link to a pic, or email it to cathie@cathie1.com. They never end up looking like the orig pic, but it gives me something to start with! :thumbsup2

And thanks to everyone who've said nice things about the cat-o-tars. It started as a joke, but I've had fun doing them. Anyone who wants one only has to ask!

i know your support is behind justin, but would it be ok if we both had cat-o-tars? they're really cute, and it would be fun to have an original rendering :)

love,

here's my favorite story--i heard this from a cm....there was a family on vacation at wdw with their young daughter. she had a bear that was ALWAYS with her--a childhood security blanket that traveled on vacation with the family. well, one evening, the family discovered that the bear was missing. they checked the last few places they had been, but the bear was nowhere to be found. the hotel concierge staff asked if the family had a recent picture with the bear. they checked at all of the parks, but no one had turned in the little girl's bear. when the family left the next day, they were all quite sad, as the bear was certainly lost. a few weeks later, a package arrived for the family from walt disney world. in the package was a replica of the little girl's bear, with a photo album, autograph book, and a note. the note said, "i'm sorry that you thought i was lost. i was just having too much fun at disney, and i wasn't ready to come home yet!" the photo album was filled with pictures of the bear on various attractions and with a variety of characters, all of whom signed the autograph book.

isn't that an awesome story? i love thinking about all of the people that made that dream come true--from the quick-thinking concierge who asked for a photo, to the wardrobe department who created a new bear to look like the old one, to the cast members who posed and photographed the bear, to the characters who signed the autograph book. that's what disney magic is all about!! ooh, i still tear up when i think about it.

what are your stories? i can't wait to hear them!!

meggin

This was a GREAT story!! :goodvibes So many people had fun granting this little girl's wish. I don't know how the Disney Cast Members do it but they always raise the ceiling for my amazement. It warms my heart to know there are so many other kind people out there that want to make others' dreams come true. I can't wait until I get to go again! I have so many wonderful stories about the Cast Members with my children but my favorite one, the one that really helped shape my oldest daughter's perception of herself, is right here.. http://family.go.com/travel/family-travelers/vacation-moments/florida/walt-disney-world/3465-she-believes/ I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Sure Meggin! The more the merrier!

And if memory serves, you tied for 2 in the DISbate, and got at least 34 of my votes!

Send pic or link pic I should look at to get started with. Oh, and tell me what color/colors you like as a background.

I love the stories from mom (Mrs. Fleagle)...... I always try at least once every trip to brighten another guests day. The last time we were down there we had just been assigned our row for Expedition Everest... well some rain started so the shut the ride down for a bit. So we hung out in line and just started people watching. We noticed the row in front of us there were two younger girls, obviously sisters from the way they were interacting. As luck would have it they were both in the single rider line and happened to be able to be seated together. So we look over at the single rider line and there is their mother, waiting to be assigned a row. Granted the standby line wasn't that long and FastPass was still available so I couldn't figure out why they wouldn't want to ride together. But anyway.... I felt bad.... so I asked the CM standing right there if we could switch spots with the mother so she could ride with her kids and the CM said "No, the single rider line doesn't work that way." Which I understood.... if we both got out of the row they would take the next couple from the standby line. So then I think I'm smart and ask "Well can one of us switch with her?" to which the CM replies again "No, the single rider line doesn't work that way." Needless to say I was saddened and a bit disappointed. But we made it a point to play it up with the two sisters on the ride and we all made funny faces for the on-ride photo.... so at least there was some fun out of the experience.

Nice! and of course, when I finished reading I gave you a vote!

Well good morning everyone...... how is everyone doing? Hey did someone get a new avatar? Or should I say cat-o-tar? :rolleyes1

Very nice cat-o-tar HMF! How handsome.....
I got one too....and I just love how Catotigger made me look so much younger than in real life and somehow I even appear cute!?!? That Cathie is a miracle worker I tell you!

(not in any way to imply that all other cat-a-tarred disboarders don't look equally as beautiful/handsome in real life as they do in their avatar. Pheww....need that disclaimer!)

By the way, please pick up your shoes. I'm tired of tripping over them! ;)

Thanks!!! Emailing you right now :fish: !!! :yay:

Good afternoon everyone! How's it going in here today? Seems awfully quiet! Hopefully that means you are all either voting or out spreading the word about your favorite candidate ;)

HMF - NICE new Cat-o-tar! Welcome to the club!

DISgeeks - love the new signature . . . very funny!

Meggin - great idea to get everyone sharing their memories. I've done a similar thing in my email updates that I send out and I've heard some wonderful responses. If I think any are worthy of the DISboards, I'll share them here later!

Another topic I'm curious about (and I know there are other threads out there for this kind of thing, but I really want to know what YOU all think) is your favorite attraction. BUT, not just the attraction. I want to know if you've had different favorites at different points in your life, and what you've learned to appreciate about certain attractions after multiple visits.

For Instance (these are mostly centered around the Magic Kingdom for now):

As a kid, I was convinced there was nothing better than flying over London with Peter Pan. However, the Jungle Cruise bored me to tears, and I remember being forced to sit and watch Michael Jackson in Captain EO several times by my sister.

As a teen, I went through a phase where it wasn't cool to ride the Fantasyland dark rides anymore (what was I thinking!), but I fell in love with the Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain.

I didn't really learn to appreciate the fantastic details of Splash Mountain until I was a little older (of course it has always been fun) and on my last visit the Jungle Cruise was one of my favorite attractions. Peter Pan carries the same magic for me it did when I was a kid, only now I'm not as fascinated by my socks glowing purple in the blacklighting!

Random post I know, but I'm feeling nostalgic. Anyone else?

Also, just in the interest of keeping everyone up-to-date, I had a really fun and unexpected day with the CMO publicity. I was awoken this morning at 6:00 a.m. by a phone call for a spur of the moment interview on the largest morning news talk station in Pittsburgh. It was a blast. The radio guys enjoyed the contestant videos so much that they later added a brief update to a slot on their TV affiliate. I had another radio interview in the afternoon and had a photo shoot with a 'photo journalist' (she was very offended by the term 'photographer') for one of the local papers. We went out to a playground and I just got to be a big kid for a half an hour while she snapped shots of me. Really, it might sound odd, but it was a very fun way to spend part of the day! One newspaper article came out today - - - I'll try to find a link for you - - - but they managed to somehow get the name of one of the sponsor's wrong! The mangled it into Career.Building.com. How do you do that? Other than that I think it was an okay article.

(*disclaimer - - - I am NOT sharing any of these things to make others feel guilty, jealous, or to puff myself up. You have just all been so supportive and have expressed a desire to know what's going on, so I thought I'd share!)

ooooooooh oooooh ooooooooh pick me!!! pick me!!!

I used to LOVE the "Wedway" (sp? -- doing that phonetically from memory) People Mover! Great memories of going THROUGH the rides! Now I think it is called Tomorrowland Transit Authority.

Delta/Eastern whatever sponsored airline of the day --- sortof like an old-fashioned Soarin' -- wind in hair -- screens all around --- no lines.

Remember E tickets?? (I just turned 46 - showing my age a bit there I know)

Now I love love love Tower of Terror! I thought it would have been Expedition Everest but not a big enough drop for me!

Oh, I soooooo want to be there right now and enjoying those magical feelings again!!

Thanks Justin for putting the smile back on my face!!! :yay:

Dude... you are in a contest to get to do something that is an absolute DREAM. Sharing exciting stuff with us should in no way deflate others. In fact, you are doing them a favor.

Congratulations on getting the word out and having some fun!

Hear Justin talk to KDKA Newsradio 1020

http://www.kdkaradio.com/

Look over at the menu on the right side and click the link that says "His Dream Job is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Go Justin!

By the way, you'll notice when the guys are talking that it sounds like they are referring to the newspaper article. Evidence of the truth: News coverage begets news coverage.

NEWS!!! And GREAT news at that! Way to go Justin!!! :thumbsup2

I loved the intro to the audio interview where the guy says that "he's one of only 10 people in the WORLD..."

How's that for perspective! 10 people in the world and a shot at your DREAM!!! And they put a link on their website for people to vote. SO exciting! Now go national! ;)

Congratulations, Justin! :thumbsup2

calliaz, do you have a favorite disney cast member experience? a time when you remember someone going above and beyond to make you and your family feel special? i really am excited to hear about the memories you all cherish from the parks.

love,
meggin

This is a tough question and one that people may not like the answer to: not really. There is no one cast member who has done something special for us. In all my trips, we've never experienced some of the spectacular things that others talk about. The thing is, though, that I still appreciate how wonderful the cast members are. In general, they are much nicer and better at their jobs than anyone outside the parks. While no one CM stands out, they all do. Someday we'll have a special experience and it will be great. Until then, I will be thrilled to get "average" service any day at a Disney park.

As for memories, I have a ton. They are all attributed to my grandfather. He was a very quiet man--no one really knew what he did for a living because we could only get "something with computers" as an answer from him. As distant as he might have sometimes seemed, he loved to take the grandkids to Disneyland every summer. We were far from rich, but we would drive through the Arizona desert at 3am to beat the heat (no A/C) to go to DL. When he developed early onset Alzheimers in his late 50s/early 60s, we were able to take him one last time to the park. I was thrilled to see him so happy when things were generally not tough.

I've had many good memories since he passed away, but they wouldn't have happened if he didn't instill in me his love of Disney Parks.

The PeopleMover.

I'm talking about the originals from Disneyland and not the imitations at the MK (of course, I have to make due with them now). As a kid, I hated roller coasters. The PeopleMovers were just my speed. I got to see the insides of rides, but the fastest I ever went was 30 mph. As a tween and teen, they were a great place to meet other kids. Of course, I never really experienced them as an adult. :headache:

I can ride the TTA now and I like being able to sit and relax my tired feet!
