Looks like a nice enough place, but I think those people at The Dolphin got taken. Those things on top of the building don't even remotely resemble dolphins. I'm betting that somebody had those things laying around and figured that they were close enough and that this was a good opportunity to dump them. I think whoever was in charge of qualiyt contorl at the Dolphin would have caught that. I don't want to point any fingers, but the difference is really pretty obvious:

Lest you think that I am coming down too hard on the quality control person at the Dolphin, I can something good about them. Apparently there were plans to put Shula's restaurant in the Swan originally, but the Dolphin quality control person insisted that it get placed in the Dolphin. Apparently Shula played for the Dolphins when they were in the ABA (that's The Alternative Basketball Association, for all of you people who, like me, aren't really into sports), that's something I did not know, but I do appreciate that attention to detail. Good call, Mr. or Ms. Qulaity Conttrol!

I don't think the people at The Dolphin are going to be able to unload those statues, so maybe the thing to do is to rename the Dolphin to fit whatever those things are. I can't figure out what exact kind of animal it is, but it is clearly a fish of some kind. Maybe they should just go with The Fish and leave it at that. I like that because it reminds me of how in nature the swans are always eating the fish. There is a lot of potential for theming in this idea. Nowadays, lots of people refer to the Swan and Dolphin as the Swolpin. With the new name, it could be referred to as the Swish. I think that ties in really nicely for Shula's and those old ABA days.

The more I think of this idea, the better I like it!

The first step will be for the management at The Dolphin to admit that they've made a mistake. I urge them to do that. There's no shame in making a mistake, we've all, including yours truly, made them. The real shame is in not correcting this mistakes when you find out about them.

Go ahead, do the right thing.

This is the another in a series of honest and objective looks into The Walt Disney World by your humble servant, clueless adventurer. I hope to stimulate lots of stimulating stimulation about The Walt Disney World. Thank you for your kind attention!

Clueless, you are! I wonder how many people actually ask, why are thre fish and not dolphins out there? Perhaps SSB could tell us if the front desk cast members keep a peg count!

Again, Clueless Adventerer, you make me laugh. I do hope this is a daily "honest and objective look" because I could use a laugh, often. :p

I hope that these little posts amuse AND inform, TC. Thank you for your continued interest and support. :)

mickeyfan1, I would think that, if they are keeping count, they'd want to know how many REGARDLESS of their names, not just Pegs.

your posts crack me up...

but aren't those dolphin fish? :)

Swish the Fish and Sam the Swan take on WDW!

Do you think they called the restaurant BLUE ZOO because they want to have a mini menagerie instead of mini golf on premise???

Something to ponder if you're in a pondering mood....;)

You need to contact Michael Graves then, 'cause he was the one who designed those hotels...along with the Disney Casting building. ::yes::

We were informed by our very well rehearsed Illuminations Cruise driver that those Happen to be Dolphin Fish.

We were also told that the Swans were supposed to be on the Dolphin and vice versa. Why, you ask? Well if you will look the Dolphin has grass blades and the Swan has waves.....we all know that Dolphins Swim and Swans play in the grass........now whether of not thats true????? SSB?????

i thought that's what the illuminations driver told us Beth!!! i couldn't remember though...thanks for posting that!!!

Most of your posts seem to come out of left field, but I must admit that you have hit the nail on the head here. Those monstrosities on the "Dolphin" don't look like much of anything.

This is partially what I've heard, although the explaination, as I heard is, is not mistake at all...the guest IN the Dolphin Hotel is supposed be able to look out and SEE waves, as the guesst IN the Swan should be able to SEE the grass.

SSB...????

And, oh yeah, it's a Dolphin Fish..however, not real, but a fantasy version. If ya ask me, though...it's an image of Don Knots as Mr Limpett, sans spectacles :p ;)

Donna I hadn't heard that but it does make sense.

Remeber Brandi he said that they didn't want to lift the huge icons off from one to another to fix the mistake.

Okay SSB chime in, did our Illuminations Cruise guy know what he was talking about???

I thought there would be a dolphin show in the fountain, but I was disappointed when I didn't see one! I'm sleeping at Sea World instead! :)

Hey Barry, if you want to sleep with the fishies, just call Tony Soprano!

Yes, I've heard it is a dolphin fish or Mahi Mahi or dorado but it doesn't look like a mahi mahi/dorado at all.

It looks like the greek images of the dolphins that would rescue them at sea. Perhaps it really is supposed to be a dolphin but the mythological dolphin? Could be!

<-- Dolphin nerd here chiming in ;)
