Club Villain Watch Thread-2017

What did it say? Was it posted by Disney?

When I asked Disney Parks twitter about it starting back up in September, the WDW today replied:

"Such a spook-tacular soiree, Bex! Keep and eye on the Disney Parks Blog for announcements."

And then when I said it would make people happy they said the would keep their fingers crossed.

The dates that were listed in the missing DPB are for Saturday and Sundays in November 2017, not Thursdays and Fridays. The dates could've been a misprint, or a typo, but I don't think so.

First, I had visited that page when it contained different dates. It was updated in March of this year (based on what my Google feed indicated), with 2017 dates. It's possible the dates were erroneous, but that wouldn't explain why the blog page was updated.

Second, Disney reservations told me that they showed the same dates for Vacation Club members for 2017. It's possible that Disney reservations get their info from the same places that we do, but I doubt it.

Lastly, Disney recycles outdated pages and schedules for future use. I booked a 2017 MNSSHP date last month, and became concerned when My Disney Experience showed a different date from the one that I booked. The date shown was also for 2016. I called reservations, and they said that it was just a temporary glitch. The cast member explained that Disney uses template slots from prior years, which correspond to the date I had booked this year. So, it seems reasonable to wonder if Disney reservations was making an old CV template ready for booking in 2017.

Pure speculation here, but the abrupt disappearance of the DPB page could signal that they're updating the template, and preparing to release more information, and more dates. It also could be that the Vacation Club member offer has either expired or sold-out, and that's why the page was removed.

Well I hope it won't be Saturday/Sunday. Saturday is a Rivers of Light dining package evening, they are only showing on Saturday and Thursday and Sunday is a MNSSHP night. I wouldn't able to do it without loosing some of my ADR's. My only Sunday is for MNSSHP (the other two are travel days) and my Saturdays are my Rivers of Light dining package and Be Our Guest dinner. :sad1:

I haven't really followed along on this thread but I think that keeping an eye out on the Disney auditions site will be a good indicator.
The per former that sang in the show is not with Disney on a full time basis anymore, and they haven't auditioned for anyone else to replace him since.
Unless he is coming back in the Fall.

Thanks for the tip! How far in advance do they hold auditions for something like this?

On the positive side, the CV setup inside the Sunset Showcase was still there as of about a month ago, including the costumes in the dressing/Green room. Why would that be the case if it's not returning? The sets and costumes surely would have been removed after so many months, especially since other events have been held there and they've had to work around them. Stop reading here if you're optimistic regarding CV returning.

On the negative side, not a peep internally that it's returning and as Yulilin3 posted, no audition calls yet. While it received very good reviews on social media, they weren't anywhere near as good in the real world which was reflected in the attendance not meeting expectations on too many nights.

Since I have a Club Level stay booked at AKL, I contacted a CM at DSS about this. He said that the sets are still there and they haven't torn them down yet. He seemed to think this is a good indication that CV will return. It makes sense to bring it back to help bring flow into DHS due to the construction of the other 2 lands. We have completely scraped DHS from our visit during this trip. We might pop in there real quick one day so we do Rockin Coaster and TOT, but otherwise it is going to be a skip for us. Unless they add CV.....

I hope the CM you spoke to is right. I was thinking that too. With how popular it was last year, and with how much they make (sorry it is a business) you would think it might help make up what they are losing because of all the construction. We are still going there. But if I only had a three or four-day ticket. I might op to skip DHS , take one night for Fantasmic and that's it. You have CV there, you will get more people sticking around. It makes sense in the business aspect to keep it.

I noticed that Disney is auditioning for "Holiday" singers and dancers. I realize this could be for lots of things, including Christmas stuff and MNSSHP, but I thought it was interesting that it's already listed in June (perhaps due to the number of performers required for both parties). I wonder if they might cast Club Villain from the same pool.

I heard that for last year they did a nation wide casting call for CV. They hired from outside of the CM pool. This explained why the actors got such high praise last year. I heard they never broke character and were awesome.

I guess I've already planned our one(!) HS visit, but if Club Villain is happening then I would stay in HS for a full day instead of hopping.

Anyone who went last year should post a selection of their favorite pics! We'll create some pixie dust this way and ensure CV comes back! pixiedust:

Thanks for the clarification - I knew the dates were off by one day, but couldn't remember which way :)

For those concerned about the change, I'm speculating, but I don't think Disney intended to change the days of the week CV was being offered (Fri/Sat), but when the year was changed from 2016 to 2017, those dates no longer corresponded to Fri/Sat but now Sat/Sun. Hope that makes sense?

I can't imagine CV was a huge profit maker for Disney. Even on sold out nights. It's an expensive event to put on (equity actors in all the roles, a ton of support CMs, full dinner, etc.).

I've stalked Disney so much over this. I really want to go when we visit in November! The Disney Villains are my favourite aspect of Disney (I'm not evil haha), so this would be a dream come true really.

I've heard virtually nothing about it though :(

I can tell you that yes, they did a nationwide casting call, usually includes cities like NYC and LA, but the main singer was already working at WDW, they of course had a B cast for when he was off but he was the main singer for most shows.
Dr. Facilier and the rest of the villains were already with WDW as well
He is the one that is currently not with Disney but that doesn't mean he can't return.
