Club Level Water ?

thanks everyone. I will bring water, but it seems for all the extra $$$ for CL that water shouldn't be a huge issue. I can understand why they have the lg glass bottles, better for the environment...

I think the discrepincy is in the fact that they used to have little bottles of water and people would take those and they, Mousekeeping would find tons of them in the rooms after guests had checked out but could not reuse them. Therefore a huge waste. So they changed to the large water bottles. Plus it is obviously more "green" to use glass bottles these days.

I feel that if you intend to use and excessive amount of the water, i.e., taking 3-4 a day then maybe you should order some water. But I plan on having a bottle in my room for my family to drink and to refill our water bottles for the parks. I think we will not use more than one bottle in a 24 hour period. I have asked this question when making my plans with the IPO and the response I received was YES, the water is for guests to use, and may take back to the room.

I am also on the dining plan and plan on buying refillable mugs. I can also get "bottles" of Desani water with the meal plan and will use that in the parks during the day. So I will not be using an excessive amount of water. Now, the Rum punch the Poly lounge has, I will not speculate. :lmao:

As with any amenity, the key is to not abuse but frankly I am paying for these extras and I would like to be able to take advantage of them. I hope I am not "punished" due to a few apples...if you get my drift. :thumbsup2

I've only stayed CL at the Polynesian, but they have always been generous with the water bottles to take back to the room. I think the only action that would be considered "rude" is if you wiped out the tray that holds the water bottles by taking all the ones that are out for the guests. Just ask a CM for a bottle or bottles for your room.

When we were at the Poly last month, the CMs in the lounge would ask people if they wanted a bottle. We were filling a few glasses of water one day and they asked us if we would just like to take a bottle back to our room. There was never an issue about asking for water, or anything for that matter.

A long time ago, they used to have the small bottles but the guests abused them as stated above, same with beer and pop. They used to put out stacks of both but guests were taking six packs to stock their rooms and then leaviing the excess when leaving. That's when we saw the halt to cartons of water, beer and pop. They put out a few and you need to ask for more. We feel the items they put out are for the lounge consumption not to horde in your room and waste, and yes, guests do do this, if it's free they will horde. It's like loading down your dish with food and leaving half. We were brought up with, take all you want but eat all you take.

Private dining would be happy to stock you up with bottled water, but I'm not a fan of Dasani and you can get a case of water at the grocery store for what they charge for 2 bottles.

My experience on the club level, especially the GF, has been similar to most of the posters here. Before soda's were offered in the lounge, my son would make numerous trips to Gasparillas to purchase Sprite. A CM in the lounge noticed this and on his next trip past her desk, she gave him a whole six pack of Sprite to take back to the room. We've also had lounge staff set aside a tray of chocolate strawberries for us, because they were a family favorite. Provided you aren't being wasteful and asking for or taking only what you need, I find nothing wrong with that. Add me to the rude club :woohoo: it looks like I'm in good company .

Let's not forget that in any of the Club Level lounges there are no signs that says food or drinks can not be taken out back to your room, so obviously it's not an issue for the Club Level Cast Members working in the lounges.

But does that make hoarding stuff a good thing?

The food provided is for use of everyone and not alone fore one guest ore his party.

Could not agree more. We see guests take two plates full of sticky buns to there room and in the morning this same plates are put out on the floor by mousekeeping and five ore six buns are still on the plate.

What a waste.

Nevermind :confused3

I changed my mind about what I was going to write. Some people just can't get over themsleves.

As far as I am concerned the OP question has been answered. If they feel they need further clarification they can call their resort IPO.

How is getting a water bottle hoarding? I have 6 people in our room- one water bottle works for us. Or I could bring all of 4 kids down to the lounge and they could all drink their water there. Did you have a bad experience where there was something you wanted that wasn't available?
I have not ever had my needs not met. *again in the one time we stayed CL. :rotfl2:

No where in his post did CR Fan say anything about taking every available item from the lounge and storing it in the room for consumption later. There is absolutely no difference in grabbing a soda and a plate of food and sitting in the lounge, or taking your coffee and bagel back to the room to enjoy on the balcony.

I'm beginning to think that your signature pretty much says it all and that you're simply having some fun "goofing" around with us .

When we've stayed GF RPC, we often take food back to the room, especially desserts and cordials to enjoy on our balcony. No big deal. Frankly, they seemed rather stingy with the bottled water at RPC. No one offered any to us. We just took a bottle for the room. No biggie.

Also, our 12-year-old would come out of the room long enough to stack 6 cheese danish on a plate and return to the TV. I'm sure people thought he was wasting them. But, no -- he would devour them all for breakfast.

What I find annoying is that they no longer have normal size water bottles. Other posters say it's because people would take them and leave them in the room unopened.

Really? And how could they possibly know that? I've always assumed it was just getting too expensive for Disney to offer decent sized water bottles, so they stopped. I think it's easy to blame the guests when, more likely than not, it's good old corporate cost-cutting!

Frankly, when we've stayed at RPC, I always get the distinct impression that there is a huge effort at cost-saving going on. Not something I appreciate when paying $700 per night for a room.

Well whenever they are running out of specific foods the Cast Members always replace it within a few minutes, so it's not like other guests are going to miss out on being able to eat that stuff.

Also let's say someone took a lot of food but decided to eat it in the lounge, would you call that hoarding because the Cast Members needed to replace the food or would that not be hoarding because they never took the food back to their room?

Not to nitpick, but in no way is the food in the lounge free. We pay for it greatly actually.

And taking food back to the room and hoarding it or wasting it are not the same thing.

I totally agree about the water bottles. For my family, it was so wonderful to be able to grab a bottle of water on our way out to the parks. We don't drink the soda or the alcohol -- so really, we're the ones being punished by this practice the most. I don't want to be forced to beg for water, so I just ordered it from Garden Grocer.

As for the reasons, I have spoken with 2 IPO CMs at 2 different resorts, and that really is the story I was given. That people were hoarding them and they found lots of bottles in the rooms unopened and that it was wasteful. But, don't you think that still happens with the cans of soda?

I agree that it seems very stingy for what we are paying for CL.

I totally agree! We pay ALOT for those "snacks"!

DH brought back a plate of desserts to our room at the Poly, and we all shared them while watching "Wishes". People shouldn't assume that if a person takes a bunch of food they are "hoarding" it -- since many people also came to the lounge in the morning and were clearly getting breakfast for their family.:)

No bad experience there always plenty of food and drinks.
Its just the : when I can get anything for free its mine, mine mine ", attitude that's keeps me wondering me what those people think.

Taking 1 or 2 bottles of water back to your room to NOT make it hoarding! If you do not want to ask for a bottle of water dont but you ARE allowed to do this, not take the water on the counter but ask a server and they will go to the back and grab you a bottle or two...if you call they will also take it to your room.

FREE ? your joking right? THAT is one of the things you pay the big bucks for while staying club level....it is in no way free...

These threads always crack me up! The OP comes on asking a simple question, which has a very straightforward answer, YES you can ask for water to bring back to your room, and it gets twisted into rude food hoarding people! I dont understand why people care about how much food other people are taking or eating....its quite amusing actually!
