My member-friend and I just gave the new 2015 rules and benefits guide a quick once-over. The following are some items that I believe are changes from last year. Be advised I might have missed something or thought something was a change that was not. But I think I'm pretty close.

Those of you that rely on the kindness of a member to get you into Club 33 may be interested in some of this. And BTW, this post applies only to the Gold membership level. Other levels may have different rules. Here goes:

1. Maximum party size for Unaccompanied Guest Reservations is six.

2. 24 Hour advance notice of changes or cancellations, not new but: Less that 24 hours...$50 Per Person fee charged to the member's account. This used to be $100 per reservation.

3. 20 minutes late...and you're officially late. You might have to wait a long time for a table or the Club can declare you a no-show at their discretion. With the $50 Per Person penalty...do your member a BIG favor and don't be late or change or cancel under 24 hours.

4. Any reservation 8 persons or more is now a "Large Party" reservation, must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance and requires a $50 Per Person deposit. Large Party reservations will have a minimum 18% gratuity added. Member must be present. No guarantee you'll all be at one table, but if not the Club will make every effort to have adjacent tables for your group.

5. 21 Royal Priority Reservations. No idea what this really means as no details about its operation have been released yet. But have to assume 21 Royal will be available to the general public in one way or another and not a Club 33 member exclusive...otherwise why mention "Priority" reservation at all, right?

6. Immediate Use Fastpasses. There's a temporary method of distribution to members of this benefit, until Disney finalizes some sort of new system of issuing these immediate use Fastpasses to members. Basically they pick them up all at once. 12 per member account, per day. Used to be 6 per member card, per day issued at Fast Pass machines. Now it seems one member can pick up all 12. And since they're picked up all at once, have to assume there's no expiry time of day on them. Which would be a nice additional perk if you're a member.

7. Premium Annual Passes. 2 issued for member and spouse/partner. These are no longer marked "Club 33" in any way and are standard character passes. Just like the general public, members use these for their personal park admission and annual pass discounts. My member-friend joked he'll miss the "oooh" factor he sometimes got from Cast Members when presenting the old Club 33/Annual Pass combo card at merchandise and food locations for his discount. No more, because:

8. Club 33 Membership Photo ID Card. This new card is now only used for direct Club 33 benefits and privileges, such as complimentary valet parking and admission to Club 33. It is no longer used for Park admission or discounts. These have not shipped to members yet, but the generic annual passes have and came with his "kit."

9. No mention of the Lilly Belle or wheelhouse of the Mark Twain as benefits. Oversight or deliberate? No idea. Maybe it's an unpublished benefit?

Anyway...that's all I can recall just now. There are many other rules and regs...but my post is just about the new or changed ones.

Reaction of my member-friend: No big deal. The change $$ penalty might be costly some day, but most of his guests are pretty responsible and well-versed in the rules. The large party $$ deposit for 8 or more will be a very slight occasional inconvenience, he says.

He was crossing his fingers that they would at least allow card-carrying Gold members without guests to drop-in to Salon Nouveau without dining reservations. But that was not to be. Still, he goes there to dine, so he gets admission regardless.

Ugh, if only I lived closer and then made a large enough salary (considering in all COL changes) to actually be a member... I'd take it.

So the gold members can only use the lounge when they have reservations to eat in the Club? They can't drop in any time they want? Not sure if I read that right.

You read it right. Silver and Gold members (and all their dining guests when accompanied by the member) can only visit Salon Nouveau Jazz Lounge immediately before and after their dining reservation in the Grand Salon.

Only the higher level memberships (such as Platinum) can just drop-in to the lounge anytime they want, with their lucky guests in tow.

Sure seems like with the amount of money they cough up every year for dues, they could at least pop in to have a drink whenever they wanted!

Oooo. Disneyluvr2, I don't think our friend is going to like that. He enjoyed being able to take his kids into the lounge for the pub-style menu rather than the full dining meals.

Nothing changed. If he had access before, he has access now.

Hi all! Perhaps someone here can advise on this. I have a work connection who is a Club 33 member. Extremely nice guy, but his secretary... let's just say she is unreliable at best. I asked a couple months ago whether he could make a reservation on my behalf. Being his usual generous self, he said sure, but his secretary told him and me that when she called, she was told "Due to the renovations and demand after re-opening, there are no reservations for unaccompanied guests until at least the new year."

So today I followed up and asked if she could check again. This time she said the club policy has changed and they are no longer allowing any unaccompanied guests, period.

Is this true? :confused3 I have a very special someone (a decade-long annual pass holder who's never been to Club 33) I was hoping to take to dinner. Initial thought was to celebrate an anniversary. But I have a sinking feeling that now we may never get there, even as a nice surprise.

If it's official policy, I'll reconcile myself to it. But part of me is hoping she's just giving us a runaround because she doesn't want to be bothered. The member is a great guy, but I can't in good conscience suggest that his secretary may be lying.

Thank you to anyone who can shed light on this!

Hi all! Perhaps someone here can advise on this. I have a work connection who is a Club 33 member. Very nice guy, but his secretary... let's just say she is not reliable for much. I asked whether he could make a reservation on my behalf, HE said sure, but she told him and me that when she called, she was told their policy is "NO unaccompanied guests permitted until further notice."

Is this true? Or is she giving me a runaround? :confused3 I have a very special someone (a decade-long annual pass holder who's never been to Club 33) I'd like to take to dinner. If it's official policy I'll just ask her again later to see if it has changed, but if she's being deliberately unhelpful I'd like to know so I can try elsewhere.

Thank you to anyone who can shed light on this!

I don't know for sure, but I think it's bull. Disneyluvr2 and I have had offers from our friend to set up reservations (without him being there). I was there in Dec with no issue. If this is a new rule, he doesn't know about it yet.

There has been a recent change where all memberships are now limited to 20 unaccompanied reservations per year. Corporate memberships especially are not happy for your exact reason. That mandate may have very well come from your Member contact, but is not a Club rule. Many members however are now a lot more choosy on who they dole out reservations to as they are now limited to 20 a year as opposed to unlimited before.

Your best bet is to tell they member how much you love Disneyland and ask if he would host you at the Club with him in attendance to share what he knows about the parks! Members can make all the accompanied reservation they want! Many members love to share the experience with others, very few like being used for their membership only to get a reservation.

Do you know kind of membership your friend has?

As for policies, from what friends and I have discussed, members are limited to 20 unaccompanied reservations a year. They also can only be made 14 days in advance during non-peak times and 3 days prior peak periods.

If your friend is on a corporate account, the corporation may have made rules regarding who can go. (Most have.) Also, if your friend is the member, he can call himself to make your reservation.

Thanks for the reply, Grand CA. I'm guessing you're correct that, whether under his guidance or not, she's figured that it's better to issue a blanket "no" than to say they're limited in number.

Normally I'd go your route and ask for him to accompany us. But in this case the member is an 80 year-old man with conservative views. While he's nice, unfortunately his courtesy wouldn't extend to a same-sex couple. I told him I had a special friend I wanted to treat to dinner when I asked for the reservation. While I don't mind that little omission in the asking (he doesn't know me that well), I wouldn't feel right asking my guy to keep up a pretense like that during the course of a full visit with him along.

I mean, other people in the office know about my relationship, so it's not something I need to hide - but he'd find it distasteful. If I ever get to Club 33 I don't want a pall like that hanging over the experience. :)

She's giving you the run-around. The 20 unaccompanied thing is definitely an issue though. I was lucky enough to get a reservation under the 3-day advance rule after the reopening, but I felt pretty hesitant asking one of the C33 members I know due to the new rule. Most members like to make reservations for others, so you are definitely asking for an ever and ever more precious opportunity as I'm sure there aren't many members sitting on unused unaccompanied reservations come year end..

Thanks Malcon10t for your reply. I don't know his membership level. He's had it a long time and no one else at our company has the ability to make reservations (I'd asked both my immediate boss and a senior exec prior to being directed to him), so I'd guess it's an individual one. Unfortunately, all routes go through his secretary. Haha as an 80 year-old I think he's reached that point where he's realized it's a better use of his time to have her handle anything he doesn't need to himself.

Thanks for the input Whoever. That seems to be the consensus so far. I actually don't have any objection to going with a member, particularly in light of the new restrictions. The issue in this case is that it's an 80 year-old man with conservative views. Aside from actually getting him to go to the park (sometimes not the easiest feat at that age), he wouldn't be very pleased to play host to a same-sex couple, well-behaved as we are! Just one of those things.

That's a difficult one to broach. You definitely don't want to insinuate she's a liar (she's a liar). Can you implore the member directly without going through her in any way?

I hope you find your way in, its a definite treat. I'm so thankful for each of my times in the club. Its been a treat I've no way of repaying to the members who've either made reservations for me, or taken me into the club with them. Truly great people.

...whether under his guidance or not, she's figured that it's better to issue a blanket "no" than to say they're limited in number.

I know many members that are now doing exactly this, due to the 20 per year cap. "Sorry, I can't make unaccompanied reservations anymore" told to those more casual acquaintances requesting reservations.

A lie, but done perhaps to save face for both parties. They probably figure most people asking wouldn't have knowledge on the actual rules of the Club anyway.

Little do they know the resources of the true Disneyland fan. :)

And if the member does agree to make the reservation, I've heard some members are even advising that free passes to the Parks no longer come with a reservation at the Club. And technically...that's true. Reservations and Comp Passes are no longer directly associated. The member can choose or choose not to issue Comp Passes out of their limited allocation.
