Club 33 - Some Rule Changes For 2015

long time lurker, first time poster, but i just wanted to share that, at least for corporate members, they are restricted to 20 reservations per year.

we have a friend who is an executive at a very large company. he tried to get us a Club 33 reservation for our 10th anniversary trip, but was told today that corporate memberships are now restricted and all 20 reservations had already been allocated.

bummer. :sad1:

Like WisdomGiver learned, that isn't exactly true. They are restricted to 20 per affiliate. And most corporations have restrictions on who they will allow to use their allotments. They also restrict due to the behavior issues involved over the last 2-3 years. Last year at least 2 memberships were lost due to actions of unaccompanied guests last year.

I'm genuinely curious, what kind of actions by the guests would have resulted in losing membership? I know that decent behavior is expected there (as everywhere) but Disney usually seems pretty forgiving, going out of their way to help even those who are complete *bleeps*. So I'm just trying to imagine, what could those people have done that was so terrible??

Malcon and opus1guy, if I can ever buy you a drink at Carthay or Napa or some other concession of your choice, let me know. I am so thankful - without your info I would have A) thought a reservation for guests wasn't possible anymore or B) showed up on Sunday, guest in tow, without actually having one.

Side note: As we were waiting to be escorted up, a gentleman who was seated somewhat unsteadily on one of the chairs started peppering us with questions about where we lived, whether we had been here before, whether we were members, etc. I thought he was trying to get a future invitation back from someone exiting, until he said he was a member. Then he got to the point: what we were drinking? :scared: The look of disappointment on his face when I said it was just cucumber water was priceless. So apparently when a member has had one too many, they send him to the Court of Angels for a Time Out? Perhaps that's a new rule! :earboy2:
Too bad I didn't know you were there, would have said hi! We were with a party in the lounge that evening. The next morning there was a small event so we didn't close it down though as we had to be back at 530am... And I think I know who you ran into.

Gotcha. So can designated corporate affiliates make unlimited reservations for themselves?

It's sad to hear that there's people who get in and don't treat it as the honor of honors or respect their connection enough to behave well.

Yes, affiliates are members themselves and their reservations are not considered "Unaccompanied".

This may be a silly question, but is there any ways to get in contact with members who are willing to share their membership to bring in non - members? This is one thing that is on my Disney Bucket List (as I'm sure it is for MANY PEOPLE!), that I so want to be able to give my mom. We're heading back to Cali for my 30th Birthday to do the D23 Expo. Staying first night at The Grand Californian, and the rest of our trip in a Premium View Club Level Room at The Disneyland Hotel. We're super excited about it. I know it's a long shot, but I figured I'd put it out into the Universe.. If there are any members out there that want to help me make my mom's life and give me an amazing 30th Birthday, or know of anywhere I may be able to find such a person, let me know! haha :) Thank you in advance.

There have been some instances where guests were caught stealing--dishes, etc. I imagine that would be quite a black eye on the member who sponsored them.
