Clothes on pets

Yes I was serious , and no I do not think pets are accessories. But they do look adorable dressed up!

Plus, like you said, you like them to look good when you take them out to poop.

:lmao:

My dog wears a hoodie every once in a while because she has had to be shaved. She gets so cold that she actually cooperates when I put it on her. (and doesn't when I try to take it off)

She also has a snuggie. (started out as a joke, but she LOVES it):rotfl:

Pakey, your hairless is adorable! :goodvibes

I have a Shih Tzu and a Standard Poodle. Yes, I dress them, on occasion! Mostly for the cold, when we go out. I joke and say the poodle is not a dog she's an accessory! I love getting cute rhinestone collars for her.

Why would anyone put the OP down for this question? It may not be your cup of tea, but it's not animal abuse (unless you really don't know how to coordinate an outfit!) ;)

^^^^

The bottom one "you're not going to put that dog dress on me!" Made me LOL. It actually made me think of my husband whom I told I was going to buy skinny jeans for (all 250 lbs of him :lmao:) After I showed him a pic of what skinny jeans actually are his exact quote was "I am not going to wear pants like THAT!"

My dog has a lot of outfits for different events but he does not always wear them. I'll admit, he has Halloween costumes. He has a sweater a scarf set for really cold days. He even has a little Santa outfit. It's all because of my sister. She loves dressing him up.

He even has a little tuxedo because when my brother in law proposed to my sister, he knew how much she loved our dog, so he dressed him up in a tuxedo with the ring attached and my sister thought it was the best thing ever.

However, I will admit that some people do get a little crazy. The other day I was watching Say Yes to the Dress and saw that a woman brought in her dog for a custom made dress. :scared1:

It didn't make sense to me. I thought it was very weird. But the dog seemed to enjoy it. :confused3

So many people act like dressing up a dog is a step away from abuse. IMO, I'd rather see someone showering their pet with love and affection - even if it involves dressing the dog up - than actually abusing them.

Not abuse--just silly and ridiculous and possibly a sign of some issues.

A dog on Say Yes to the Dress? This seems appropriate?

Question for people who put clothes on cats. How do you do it without blood being spilt (yours not the cats)

When my daughter was little, she used to dress her cat in doll clothes and push him around in a baby stroller. I never understood how she go the cat to do that, but the cat adored her and would even ride horseback with her (draped across the front of the saddle). :confused3

I have 100lb Komondorok. They have floor length cords that drag on the ground.

It takes 2+ hours to bathe and 24 hours to dry with fans. (If you don't get them dry, they will mildew - stinky, stinky, stinky.0

So, if going to a show, I have to bathe them several days in advance otherwise they wouldn't be dry by showtime. So, usually after a bath, their cords are tied up and they are sporting a white t-shirt to keep dirt from collecting on the sometimes still damp cords.

That is the ONLY time they have clothes on and the only time they are pristine white. :goodvibes

Oh, except for the time DD put her cheer bow on our *****. That lasted about 1 minute before she pawed it off.

It is crazy to put clothes on pets. I saw a show once and the expert said to not do this, they hate it and they aren't accessories. DON"T DO IT.

But hey, if you want to look like those beyond stupid Hollywood types, go ahead. I am sure your animal will hate you for it.

I'm not entirely sure as to why someone would want to fully cloth a dog or any animal for that matter but the extent I would go to clothing an animal is a cute collar and perhaps a bow for special ocassions but even then I can tell my dog doesn't like it and I just end up taking it off anyway. I feel bad enough making my pets wear a collar as it is :S

One of the craziest things I've ever heard: my hairstlylist told me that he had a lady come in once and ask him to give her dog hair extensions. I'm not kidding. The dog had chewed its hair off or something and was going to be in a dog show. What's even crazier is that my stylist actually did it for her.

At the risk of getting ridiculed again...sigh...I'm asking another question. Do you put clothes on your pets? My dog is pretty big and I haven't been able to find anything cute that will fit him, but he doesn't like clothes anyway. But I do get pretty scarves to put on him for walks, so he will look good, I'm able to find colors that complement his fur.
I do find cute little clothes for cats and they make tiaras for cats too, but I don't do the tiara thing, they just have cute little shirts and coats.
Im kinda done with pets but it would be fun to get a fluffy little white dog because they look good in everything.
I have seen stroller/carriers for dogs but to me that's going too far.

No I do not put clothes on my dogs so they look cute :headache:. My dogs do not wear clothes usually. My pomeranian has a few rain coats because he loves to go out in the rain but he hates the hair drier. The only time he wear the coat is when it is pouring outside. The only other occasion my dogs wear clothes is when we go camping and it is cold in the tent. I have dress them up for halloween and xmas pictures but not for longer than an hour. They really hate it.
I can't even imagine trying to put clothes on my cats why does a cat need a tiara . I think is horrible to buy a white dog just so it can match to outfits.

I learned pretty recently that there are actually people who dress up dogs and cats in full regalia and stage weddings for them. (No interspecies ones that I heard about though)
