Good friend of mine is planning a December trip. The temperature is typically between 53 degrees and 70 degrees. I'm thinking pants and short sleeved shirts with jackets would work well. For those who have been to WDW around Christmas, what works best for you? My friend is pooh sized if that helps.

We brought a bit of everything and we needed it all last year. We were warm to hot during the day most days and absolutely fine in shorts and t-shirts. We swam most days as well. It got cooler toward the end of our week, and it was pants and hooded sweatshirts. I wore a lined (think Fall or Spring) jacket to MVMCP with a scarf and light gloves and was still a little chilly. I'd pay close attention to the weather as the trip gets close and bring something for all scenarios.

Be prepared for everything from 28-85 degrees. Three Words,

LAYERS, LAYERS, LAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We took zip off pants one year and that was nice when the days crept into the 80s.

It definitely varies. This past December we had high temperatures (80s) the beginning of the month, but then got chilly near Christmas. Typically the mornings can be very chilly, be "warm" about an hour out of the afternoon, then get chilly again. Packing layers is the best idea, and believe it or not it is a good idea to pack a pair of gloves and maybe a scarf for the parks.

To echo what Pigletto said....there is no such thing as "typical" winter weather in Orlando. You could have warm days with cool mornings, or you could have mornings near freezing with afternoons in the 40s. Or you could have a little of both, or you could have something in between!

You really won't know for (sort of) sure until a day or two before you leave....and even then, the forecast could change

We went once for Christmas. The week started out in short sleeved shirts and trousers. It ended in coats, hats, scarves, and gloves. We ate Christmas dinner at the Rose and Crown in Epcot and never took our coats or hats off, it was so cold. We are all the proud owners of matching sets of Mickey scarves and gloves as we didn't bring any with us. My advice...bring some of everything, then you'll be prepared. :santa:

One year we went and had to wear fleece jackets (Northface), gloves and hats.

Last year we wore shorts and T-shirts and were super hot!!

We've done a couple of early December trips, and we had days that were 80+ degrees and great for swimming, followed by days where the high was only in the 60s. I recommend packing pants and shorts, and shirts/sweaters that can be layered if it gets chilly.

We go every Christmas to Disney. Our first year, 2010, I checked the weather and researched like crazy, unsure of what to bring. We settled on mostly summer wear and a pair of jeans and some hoodies for each of us. The 2nd day we were there it dropped down into the 30's. It was ridiculous. Now I take some of everything. Every year three I feel like the weather is different. Last year I hardly ever wore my jeans, even at night. My point? Take a bit of everything. :rotfl:

I was good in shorts and a t-shirt most days. we did have one freak rain storm but it passed with in 20 mins

but at night the DW did get a bit cold. especially watching IllumiNations because we were near the water and stayed pretty late

I say pack for everything and just keep an eye on the weather every morning and dress for that day. you could always go back to your resort and change for the evenings

Last year I wore capris almost the whole trip and they were perfect. Cotton fitted, like yoga/exercise type capris with t shirts. We also needed a sweatshirt in the mornings/evenings.

As others have said, bring items that can layer. Last time I went in Dec, I wore jeans, a long sleeved shirt, a zipper warm up jacket, all topped with a fleece hoodie. I also took a pair of the stretchy gloves you can buy at Target. I was freezing! It was about 45 degrees during the day.

I live an hour east of WDW and believe me, December can have a whole ranger of temperatures. It's not uncommon to have mid 80s one week, then close to freezing the next. I've come out of my home several times during winter here in Central Florida to find frost on my car. Your best bet is to check out the weather forecast (WDW's zip code is 32830) and plan accordingly.

Very little to no rain.

Typical is low 70's daytime, low 50's night. But I have been there in the low 80's as well as the mid 20's. In 2010, the landscaping crews covered a LOT of the plants to prevent freezing. It was VERY cold. And I am from Chicago. Bring a bit of everything, including hats and gloves. Check weather trend a few days before arrival. But be prepared for anything.

She needs to pack for all weather types. We have been for a week in December where we have had everything from 42 to 85 in the same week. Not any rain, but drastic weather change from one day to the next. ;)

You really do need to wait until right before your trip and check the weather forecast. I've been twice in December. One year I work jeans, a couple of tops, and a coat the whole time. Added gloves after dark. Another year I was fine in jeans, a tee shirt, and a hoodie.

11 years straight going to wdw in Dec. I fly in socks, jeans, turtleneck, sweatshirt, down vest and windbreaker. Windbreaker and vest come off on the plane. I take capris and a short sleeved shirt in my carryon bag...then I can change when I get to MCO.
That way, I have heavier clothes for the evenings....it can, and frequently does, get very chilly there. I even pack those one size stretchy gloves...and have used them!!
I normally wear capris, or skorts, with a short sleeved shirt during the say. At night I can usually stay with the capris, but need a long sleeved shirt and a sweatshirt, and sometimes the vest or windbreaker.
