This was the most annoying resale contract. I wasn’t initially told that the seller was international, but that only caused about an extra 3 week delay. First American added 1-2 weeks of delay at every single step of the process. I bought an Aulani resale contract with First American as the title company at the end of 2023 and it was a great experience so I chose to go with them again, but this time was a very different experience. If I ever buy another Aulani contract, I will try any other title company that offers title insurance for Aulani.

State of Hawaii law requires that escrow be held by a company licensed in Hawaii, so if escrow is involved, then you're stuck. If it were a gratuitous transfer i.e. adding your kids to the deed, you wouldn't be so restricted.Good to know! It really is slim pickings for Hawaii title companies

TRCS can only process purchases where you opt out of title insurance. I opted out on my small 50 pointer. TRCS moves slow, the owner is snarky but they withhold funds until you get points so I can deal with snark and slowness for that perk. 176 days. It's not something I want to hold the trophy for thats for sure. But I hope I keep the trophy and you get your contract all settled.How long was that? I might as well derive some sense of satisfaction from this process, ha ha.
