Hi! I dunno if this question is silly or not but here goes. :confused3

My wife and I purchased a DVC membership at SSR at the end of October. :cool1: We filled out the necessary papers (dated Oct. 29, 2006). Prior to this, of course, we paid the downpayment and closing fees on Oct. 25, 2006 while on the phone with our guide. We did not finance. We paid by certified check and sent it by registered mail (slo-o-o-ow but very safe) which was received and signed for in FL at 9:56 AM on November 13, 2006. :thumbsup2

On Nov. 10 we received what I think was a form letter reminding us that the balance of our down payment was due on 11/24/2006. However, the last paragraph of this letter states "If your payment and this letter cross in the mail, . . . please disregard this notice." So we have disregarded this notice.

We are supposed to receive our permanent membership cards "at least one month after your contract has closed."(email from the DVC) :hourglass

My question is: when did our contract close? :rolleyes1

Thanks.

I'm not sure of the exact closing date of your contract. However, to me it is more important to know that you are "in the system" so you can begin making reservations, banking points, etc. That can be confirmed with a quick phone call to Member Services.

If you need to know the exact closing date, you can look it up in the Orange County recorder's office. The link has been posted here often and hopefully someone will provide it. You go to the site and plug in your name and you should see your property listed as well as the closing date.

When I purchased an add-on directly from Disney, I think the closing occurred about 2 months after purchase. I received notification in the mail and I was billed for the pro-rated dues at that time. If you have a trip coming up and want your membership cards, I think you can get temporary cards to use in the meantime.

ETA: I just looked up my deed on the Orange County records site and the deed was recorded about one month after the date I signed my paperwork. If you want to do a search, here is the link to the search page: http://www.occompt.com/disclaimer.html

It took our contract close to three months to close - but if you purchase through Disney, you can actually make ressies and travel on points once you pay the downpayment. You don't need the permenant blue card.

Thanks for your msg. I have already made rezzies for SSR in March and will make rezzies soon for October. Gotta enjoy the Food Festival again  .

As to accessing the OC recorder's office, I did that last night and there it was. My contract was recorded Nov. 27. :surfweb:

Thanks, again.

Thanks for the site, Lisa. I checked it out last night and our contract had been recorded on Nov. 27. :surfweb:

We have not received our bill for the pro-rated dues yet. Our guide told us that we would only have to pay about two month's dues this year but like I said we haven't gotten it yet. As for membership cards, we do have temps but now I feel comfortable that by the time I do visit the MagicAL Kingdom, I will have the permanent ones.

I'm very happy with this discussion board and with the informative answers that I get for my many questions. I still have alot of them. :cool1:

Thanks, again.
