Closest walking from AKL

Although we do plenty of walking in the parks, it's at the pace of a 7 yo Princess. My hubby and I like to start the morning with a couple mile walk at our pace. There are lovely walks from WL, POR and the YC, where we've stayed before.

we want to try AKL if codes show up for August.
Where is the closest place to be able to take a "scenic" walk?

Well Erin, that's the thing with AKL. It's really the only thing that is on the property. It is set far away from even AK, and though you might enjoy walking in that immediate area, I don't recall anything really scenic around it other than just the lodge and the grounds it occupies. It is situated in a spot that has alot of trees and foilage but I don't know if you would think that is scenic or not. The walk around the lodge to see the animals is nice but it is nowhere near a couple of miles! I think the walks around the other resorts you mentioned are much better.

I must make a request if you do get AK Lodge... take a bus to someplace else to walk/jog/run...

Do NOT attempt to walk/jog/run in the AK Lodge area... the roads are VERY busy with very high speed traffic. Osceola Parkway in that area is only 40mph, but people do 55mph plus.

As a general rule, if there is no sidewalk, DO NOT JOG/WALK THERE. You'd be amazed at how many people I see jogging on a major highway IN A TRAFFIC LANE... *sigh*

That is my only real problem with the AKL, lack of walking trails. There isn't ANYWHERE near the AKL where you can walk around, well maybe the parking lot but that's it. As Chip 'n Dale Express said, you'll have to drive or bus somewhere to walk around.

You will need to take a bus or drive. Even though the AK park is near, there is no walking path between the AKL and the AK. The roadways are not safe places to walk - note Chip 'n Dale's post above.
