I'm debating whether to stay offsite at the airport the night we fly in or stay close to Universal and just walk over. We have a reservation at HRH but at $294/night - I think we are going to stay offsite for the first night. We won't get in until after 6:00 p.m. so I can't see paying that high rate.

So what hotel is closest? I really don't care which one we stay out as long as it isn't a total dive...

There are many close to Universal, the closest is probably the Raddisson Twin. It is just outside the entrance of Universal on Kirkman Road.

try this website www.hotelmartusa.com and input your dates. there is an amerisuites on this website that lists for 72.00 a night that is tax included. A lot of there hotels include taxes in the prices. There is an amerisuites that is across the street from universal. The hotel is a little weathered but the rooms are decent. The rooms come with refrig/micro combo. These are small suites not just a bed a tv. They have a seperate living space w/kitchenette. Not only that but they also have free breakfast in the mornings. Its not a great breakfast but it will get you going in the morning. Hotelmartusa might also have some other option or choices if you look.

By the way this is where we stayed in may before moving to universal the next day. Just like you we came in late to orlando and did not want to waste our valueable dollars on a nights stay that we would not get full value of .

good luck on your trip and have fun]

Kimberly

Is there a Best Western near the Universal entrance? I thought there was one across the street from the water park. Is it a dump or is it okay? :sunny:

The one across from Wet N Wild is BW Movieland. We stayed there for a week Spring Break before last. We had a room on the second floor with a view of W&W. It's just a motel but not really a dump. I like BW International better. BTW I got the room for $23/night on an Ebay auction.

We just spent three nights at the Sheraton Studio City - got it for $41 a night off of priceline. It was great!! We were on the 10th floor, had a view of the IOA from our room. Took us about 2 minutes to get there by car.
