I know this is probably a really weird question, but there are two Kmart locations in St. Thomas and I am wondering which one is the closest to port? Does anybody know the address for the Kmart closest to where the Fantasy docks?

Thanks in advance :cool1:

There is a Kmart within a mile and a half or so from the main pier in St. Thomas. They have built a number of larger mall type structures within the last few years. I have not sailed the Fantasy but the Freedom of the Seas that ties up at the main pier. It is an easy walk or quick taxi ride. Many of the crew members jump off and get what they need especially phone cards.

Beth, It's is about a 1/2 mile from the dock. Plug this address in Google Maps..
K Mart, Route 313, Charlotte Amalie East, St.

I'm impressed that you guys know there is a Kmart on St Thomas! Anyways, I'm really curious as to why you want to go to Kmart while in St Thomas?

I try to avoid K mart but we have been to the island over the years and seen such a building boom which included big box stores which for the people of the island is great but as a tourist sad. It seems to be turning into strip mall heaven and not a Caribbean island. At least right around the port. They even have all the fast food venues.:sad2:

Allen, thanks for the info. I want to go there early and get in and out and enjoy the island the rest of the day:cool1:

Since St.Thomas is a U.S. possession I have never purchased alchohol or cigarettes in this port but I just wonder about the tax situation? I know St. Martiin ia a tax free port. I would like to know the tax situation just for my own curiosity.

Not sure of the tax situation official details, but when I was in St. Thomas in 2010, at a liquor store just steps from the ship, I bought a liter of Bacardi for $10, no tax. Great deal for me!

Generally, tobacco and alcohol are much less expensive in the USVI. Also, the duty free limits are larger for some purchased products (tobacco) and for products manufactured (alcohol) in the USVI. You might want to check the US Customs & Border Protection website. Then let me know if you figure it out!! You almost need a lawyer to interpret it!

I called Kmart down there today (loved the island accent) and a carton of Newport was 25.99, which is a lot better than almost $90 a carton in NY State. I believe we are allowed 5 cartons per person on we can buy four on St. Thomas and 1 per on St. Marteen or the ship. I was thinking about buying liquor, but I am already stressing about the liquor I am bringing from NY surviving on the airplane flight down to MCO.

Thanks for the info. I'll take your word for it.:thumbsup2:)
