Closest grocery and/or favorite?

Mstec,

We were thinking of using Albertsons for the same reason. Is that the one on Orange Blossom Trail?

Thanks!

Yes...That's the one...It is a pretty big supermarket and I haven't found the prices to be too inflated, since it isn't right next door to WDW.

The one thing I would do, is try to be as specific as possible when ordering and also decide if you want them to make substitutions, if they don't carry a particular brand. Also, when they bring out your order, stop the guy, before he takes it to the register, and check your cart and make sure you have everything you want, or that they haven't made any substitutions that you can't take. For example, I ordered the "liquid" (I put big bold letters on the order page) Int. Delight vanilla creamer, but still got the powder form. I think they just have one of the baggers do the service, and they don't always know or understand the specifics of an item. Other than that, it is a great service and certainly saves time.

We like the Publix on SR192. There is also a Winn-Dixie on the road just outside of the gate near DTD. Go out that gate, take a left, go down the street about 5-10 minutes, and it'll be on the right.

Here in the area I live, Albertson's owns a chain called Acme Markets. Acme has online ordering and either in-store pick up or delivery right to your home. They do charge for this (I think $5 for pick up, $10 for delivery, gratuity not accepted). However, when I am crunched for time, it is well worth it. I wish they had that in FLA because it would be so much easier to see what they carry when I put my list in.

Working on updating my DVC folder. I know... I know - nerdville.[/QUOTE]

I just set in my paperwork for our SSR purchase and am working on putting together a Binder with all types of information to keep when planning our trips so you are not alone Does anyone know about how expensive it would be to take a cab from the hotel to Albertson's to pick up an order or to go to one of the other shops to pick up some stuff I am thinking of packing a suitcase of stuff but will need perishables

Frankly, I would just do a one day car rental from one of the onsite locations. They will pick you up at your hotel, and you can get rates as low as $14.99 if you do some shopping around. For $20 all in, you are better off than taking a cab.

I really don't suggest taking a suitcase of food, although it seems to be popular on these boards.

Otherwise, consider wegoshop.com or netgrocer.com (netgrocer will send non-perishables via FedEx, so you don't need to be in your room; wegoshop.com will do perishables and you do need to be there from what I understand)

That certainly would make it easier, wouldn't it...If they had something, maybe online, where you could just check off what you wanted to pick up, specifics and all...I've read that if you use Goodings to deliver the food, you can fill in an order form online, but I don't know if they use this method, or if it is simply you type in what you want and they will make substitutions, etc. just like with Albertson's.

I may look into GOodings but I hear they are outrageously expensive.

The problem with Acme's online ordering, is that you are allowed a blanket statement for the whole order on substitutions (ie. substitute for same quality, no substitutions or substitute). I don't like it because, while it does not necessarily matter to me if my eggs are brown or white, extra large, large or jumbo, it does matter if they substitute my kids' favorite snacks with some other brand. :scared:

I like being able to fax the order and say "substitute this item" or "no substitutes for this item." Albertson's may be our best option because of this.

Though I am still considering the wegoshop.

By the way, I see you live in North Jersey. Can you get Fresh Direct where you live? My sister in NYC says it is the best.
