Closer to the Magic!!!

We're leaving NJ and moving to Florida... from the Garden State to the Sunshine State! Just an hour outside of WDW!!! Finally gonna be here to enjoy the Magic all year through!!! Now we can stay late on that final day of vacation when we store the luggage at the resort !!!

Given the choice between two types of natural disasters, I'd take the hurricanes over NJ government too.

As for moving south, one cast member pointed out to us, we both live indoors 4 months a year. They just do it in the summer.

Congratualtions on the move and I truly hope the grass is greener in Florida. Personally I wouldn't want to be so close to the "magic". It would take away a lot of the fun. Part of the reason we go to WDW is to get that change of scenery and change of pace from upstate NY. If I moved to Florida I'd sell my DVC and buy something different. Good luck and hope the move goes smoothly for you. I'll be following in your footsteps soon, kind of, as we will be moving to Texas in the early fall. I won't feel so weird owning SSR points anymore as I am from Saratoga Springs, NY now.

I moved from Long Island to Tampa 15 years ago (I was only 22 at the time) and I would NEVER move back! I easily got used to summers in Florida and sometimes it is just as hot and humid up north in the summer - and at least everything here is air conditioned!!! We bought into DVC also, who cares if we are an hour away? We were still staying over enough to make it worth our while....it doesn't lose one bit of the magic for us....we just get to enjoy it more often. I LOVE the fact that we can now pick up the phone and use our points if we decide to go over for a night or two. (yes, I know, if there is availability, blah blah blah)
Anyway, CONGRATS to you from someone who has (and never will) look back!

I feel the same... though I don't think I'd want to live in MN in the winter either!

For now I'll just stay somewhere in the middle. Although, I must admit I was reading over some position openings at some universities in Florida...

I think the furthest south I'd want to go is around Atlanta.... and I think I'm already as far North as I want to go too!

Good for you!!!!!! We live in NJ and have always wanted to move to Florida!!!
We bought a house there (55 & over community????? Hubby doesn't want to be too near the water) last August. We aren't quite ready to retire yet (59 & 60) and I am not sure that I want to live in the area that we bought. I figure the worst thing would be that we would sell this house and buy another ......closer to Disney!!!! I will definately have to work on that one!!!!!!!

We're right behind you! We'll be moving down there in 18 months & it can't come soon enough! We will about 90 minutes away & I'll love having my points to hop on over & use anytime I want (yes I know depending on availabilty). Heck people here own timeshares down the Cape or up in NH & they are only about an hour away & nobody thinks that's odd. It's still an escape from the everyday grind, but much easier to escape to.

We thought about being Florida residents & having resident's discounts so would DVC be worth it once we moved there? Well we figured we will spend a lot of peak times there like Christmas week, Spring break, etc. & those discounts are not so readily available at that time, so DVC is a no brainer for us. Plus we will never have to check airfare to see if we can get a decent rate first anymore. I am sooooo looking forward to that!
