They open around noon and close around 10pm. I can only speak of CBR and POR. You'll have plenty of time for cocktails :goodvibes

one year we wanted drinks after dinner at the poly. our plan was to order Lapu lapus and watch wishes and the electrical water pagaent. in the slower season, the pool bars close early, like around 8!
we were able to order drinks from the bar at Ohana's, in a plastic cup. but you need to both be present. dh went back in to get the drinks and came out with only one. and I had to go in myself. (to prevent anyone from giving a drink to a minor).

I'm upset over the disappearing DSA's and the lack of updates on Disney's part too. They took away my DSA's in France and China too. I think the only one left in WS is the big one with the benches. :sad2:

That ticks us off as well. My husband enjoys a cigar stop every now and again and the maps are seldom correct.

When we were there in October (and I know how quickly things change so they may not be the same now), there was a DSA in front of the Odyssey Pavilion on WS; a DSA between Norway and China (service entrance for CMs and park equipment with a couple of benches); one near the fountain in Italy behind the shops but before Via Napoli (right side - several benches); between Japan and Morocco; a DSA with benches inside the gate at the EPCOT International Gateway exit; and a DSA just beyond the rose garden entrance to FW on the left side of WS.

Disney merely moved the one from the lovely area in China to a rather sterile service area that has no shade until later in the day. No cover either. :rolleyes1

Let us know what you find kaffinito.

The only one there now in WS is the one with the benches just past Germany. The one by Norway is gone. I didn't look for one in Italy by Via Napoli, so it might still be there. :) The one in China is altogether gone, so is the one going towards the friendship boats. The one by Italy that was towards the water is gone too.

The DSA by the entrance to WS by the rose garden is still there.

There are two in EPCOT that I found, one of them (by the bathrooms in front of Spaceship earth) is gone. The one by Mouse Gear and the fountain is still there, and the one by the Land pavilion is still there.

As far as DTD being a smokers paradise, all of the smoking ashtrays are gone from the Marketplace. There aren't any anywhere, and I searched for one. I finally ended up just smoking on a bench. They might have moved the to other out of the way areas, but if so, they aren't on the park map, and they aren't readily visible to the naked eye.

MK has lost the one by Tony's - it's a fast pass area now. So now MK has the one behind the Castle, and the one in Frontierland. I didn't go looking in Tomorrowland though. :sad1:

Not a very "encouraging" report! :rotfl: Don't they realize if they all the DSA's away smokers will smoke wherever they please? I desperately try to "stay away from non-smokers" -don't like confrontations and dirty looks :scared1:, especially on vacation but geezz  this is getting ridiculous. :tink:

in dec. the one near the fountain/statue in Italy was still there. the one by test track was gone. I think the hidden one kind of in front of mission space is still there.
I canot figure out why they would take away the one past the the coral reef entrance. no one entering the restaurant was anywhere near it.. you had to make a point to walk into that oittle area. no one would accidentally walk past it at all.

funny about the one near mouse gears, by the fountain.. they had taken it away for a while. but all the smokers kept smoking there anyway! everyone probalby felt like I did, it was way out of the way.. no reason to walk back in there unless you wanted to amoke.. and far enough away from the fountain that passers by wouldn't be bothered. we just figured we would "play dumb" if encountered.
well it worked everyone!!! they brought it back! yay for you guys!
( I say "for you guys" cause hubby and I quit Jan 25.. not that I'm counting the days or anything:rotfl:. but I still think there should be plenty DSAS for smokers)

I definately think more DSA's not less is the best way to make sure smoker;s smoke in Designated areas !! I know it is frustrating fiding some at the Parks !! I have my favorites like by the Speedway at MK and near Brown Derby at DHS. Signage like for restrooms would be great too!!

thanks!! I appreciate your support!I am a waitress and a bartender. business has DEFINITELY gone down since Illinois instituted the no smoking in "public places" ban.(um.. what IS a "public" place? if a private american citizen owns property, opens a business, allows people into said business .. at their own discretion, and choice. how again is that "public" property?)

while I personally never want to smoke again, I want my customers to be allowed that freedom, if they choose. and my bosses to choose which type of establishment they want to own. and customers to choose if they want to go
to that establishment or not.l

at WDW.. themore you do away with DSA's, the harder it will be for everyone, non smokers included!

I totally agree. Better signs would be great to help smokers find DSA's. :)

I agree with you on those points too. Michigan has the no smoking ban as well, and while I personally like it, the business owners are really suffering financially from the ban. Especially the bars. :sad2:

I also agree about the DSA's at WDW. If they would leave well enough alone, then smokers wouldn't have to break any rules out of sheer frustration at not being able to find a DSA.

In August, the DSA by the Friendship boats was still there, but when I went just last week, it was already gone, leaving the closest DSA back by the entrance to WS, or over on the benches by Germany. :headache:

They've even taken away the DSA's in the Marketplace section of DTD. So now where are we supposed to smoke?

Thought I would just let you know where I smoked last week, that I could remember:
Epcot - next to China in that newer walkway area they built last year or so, with the couple of benches.
Benches near bridge to FutureWorld (Mexico side).
Way down near the IG entrance in World Showcase.
Still between Morocco and ?? what's after Morocco - having a blank!
Back in Italy near the fountain.
Near Imagination pavilion (between there and the Land).
Near Mission Space - same as always.

MK - near Carousel of Progress
near Aloha Isle
on wooden walkway between Liberty Square & Frontierland - along the water - is that new? It's almost right across from the Shootin' Gallery.

DHS
in Tower of Terror courtyard - had never been back there before
near Animation entrance archway
We didn't hit the other side of the park at all this trip due to Star Tours being closed

Animal Kingdom - geez! Over by Expedition Everest - where we walked super far to get to. We weren't there that long, I can't think if we stopped anywhere else at all.

So I can confirm that all those existed last week.

I was there last month, and the only smoking area I found was on the walkway going toward Capt. Jacks near the water....there are tables and umbrellas there.

You're right, it is new. It was was put in when they removed the old one off Liberty Square, behind the shops, where Tiana has (had?) a meet-n-greet area. A rare instance of removing a DSA and adding another. The old one was much more out of the way and less of a bother to non-smokers, and it was also shady. But the new one has a nicer view, day or night, so I don't mind as much that they moved it.

A heck of a lot more non-smokers walk by that area than did the old one, though, so the number of dirty looks is up a lot. :(

Thanks for posting the list of DSAs you found on the last trip. It's reassuring to see that some of the nice ones are still there. They just need to do something about having none at all in the Africa section of AK. You can either go to Camp Minnie-Mickey, or to the one by EE, or the one behind Chester & Hester's shop. I think that's all there is in the whole park. Oh, there's the one at Conservation Station, too. I miss the one by Tusker House, and the one that was along the "hidden" forest trail from Africa to Asia, and the one by the CS restaurant in Asia that had a nice view of the waterways. <sigh>

My Mother is pretty miffed that she won't be able to smoke on a WDW Resort balcony (we're hoping to stay at BLT in the near future) she finds that so unreasonable (i agree, partly) the only DSA's at BLT are outside the front & back of the Lobby.

:confused3

I'm a long time WDW property kind of girl, but we drove down for a short (5-day) trip in December and couldn't get a room anywhere on site for our spur of the moment trip. We ended up staying at Buena Vista Suites and I sooo loved having a smoking suite, that we're heading back there in a couple of weeks. Well, honestly, the main reason we're staying off-site again is because my daughter's boyfriend is going with us on this trip and the 2 room suite just works better for our needs this time. I must admit though, that I secretly did a little mental cheer that we would be staying there again and could get a smoking room again. The wonderfully comfortable beds are an added bonus too.

So if you must have a smoking room for someone, I highly recommend looking at this place. Less than 5 minutes from Disney property, great rates, free full breakfast buffet (also surprisingly good!).

:hippie: LOL, I promise I don't work for them even though it almost sounds like I do! Just wanted to share what I think is a good smoking option.

The first year we went after this policy was put into effect, I too, was "miffed"! But...have discovered, while it is inconvenient to go to a DSA, I meet THE BEST fellow smokers there! :thumbsup2 It's nice to get to know others...where they're from; how often they visit; their favorite resort, etc. ... and lots of fun! :goodvibes Met the sweetest young lady from England at this BLT DSA (at the front entrance) last August:

... and a very nice gentlemen from Ohio and a lady, my age...there with DGC ... from New Jersey at (what I call the "back yard DSA") this one:

It's a "pain" :headache:, especially after you've showered and in your "jammies" but I'd just throw a tee shirt and shorts on and go down in the "fuzzy slippers"! :lmao: Sometimes to visit with new friends, sometimes just to have time to myself! :tink:

I sooooo agree !!The smoking areas are great for meeting people who you already have 2 things in common with Disney and smoking !!!

I'm going to have to say to her "Yes i know it's annoying but atleast you'll get to meet people and have a good natter!" :rotfl: Hopefully that'll stop her moaning. ;)

My Dad is also a smoker but he isn't bothered about not being able to smoke in the Resort he's a 'get on with it' kinda person. :)

I bet it's nice to sit out at night though, i can just imagine my Dad saying "Oooo it's so peaceful out here at night!" he'll probs go for a walk and take dozens of pictures of everything.

...and tell your Dad there are some awesome photo opps at BLT too! :thumbsup2 The pool at night is spectacular. Sitting at the one in front, you see the lights of the MK, the monorail making it's last runs of the day...the "quietness" of the bustling WDW is phenomenal! I absolutely love being out there at 1-1:30 in the morning! :goodvibes ....just don't forget the "room key"! :lmao: You need them to get back into the building! I always keep my key in my case; if I'm going out to smoke I KNOW I'll have my key with me. Ohhhhhh...I'm so homesick for BLT! :sad2: Enjoy your stay. :tink:
