Kaffinito: Thank you so much for the map. Hope I can help you out one day.![]()
Ok smoking peeps.I'm still up in the air over where to spend the last three days of my solo trip in April. I'm looking for the most smoking friendly resort out of these:
POFQ - stayed here as a smoker
POR - stayed here as a non smoker
CBR - never stayed here
Help please! I'm really torn over this, and want to book sometime before I have to leave!![]()
if you've never stayed at CBR, I would give it a shot. if you don't want to pay for preferred room, request jamaica or Aruba. both are across the Island for the main pool and food court, and it's a nice walk across the biridge. hammocks on the island.
anyways, each building had a DSA. and some of them are really cute!! tables in the courtyard areas with umbrellas. and all the quiet pools have a dsa right outside, facing the lagoon.
AND! (at least when we were there) there were a whole bunch of tables near the main pool , by th epool bar, that you could smoke at. and there was a DSA outside the food court.
have fun!!

I'd vote POR nice smoking areas by the quiet pools.
Ok, I promise this is the last time I'm going to ask- but what about smoking at CSR? Is that resort smoker - friendly?
I really do appreciate you guys putting up with me!![]()
I think CSR is very smoker friendly. They have a lot of places to sit & have a smoke along the walkways throughout the resort.
AKL??? that is the least smoker friendly resort!
side note.. one month for hubby and me.. no smoking!!!
anyway. last time we stayed at CSR, hubby got a kick out of.. we were in building 3 casitas, 3rd floor, facing the lagoon. and there was actually an ashtray 5 feet from our room door
maybe some people from a previous convention put it there? we don't know. but it sure was convenient!!
haven't styaed there in a while, but it is a convention resort. many who stay there either don't go to the parks, or not as often. so there seems to be a lot more adult partys, more night time "noise". less bus waits. longer waits at dinner time at pepper market.
but seemed to be more smoker friendly.
as far as POR goes. every quiet pool had a small DSA. but it seemed like the guests "policed" themselves, ie, there were 2 tables atone end, which kinda became the "smoker's tables, and the 2 tables nearer the restrooms kinda became the "family tables".
I am wondering about the smoking sections at saratoga springs resort... We were at animal kingdom in october/november and found the smoking sections rather hard to find, are the ones at SS better marked?
CSR IS Coronado Springs Resort.
we haven't been there in a while, but when we were there, it was pretty smoker friendly.. its a convention resort. a lot more adults, less families.
ya know, you never know. in 2009, we stayed at POR. there was a DSA at the quiet pool, next to our bldg (16). the DSA was "technically" a 2 seat bench.
o the one end of the kidneybean shaped pool were about 4 tables, and a bunch of loungers. on the other end. closer the the DSA, were 2 tables.
the whole 10 days we were there, these 2 tables kinda "became" the smoking section. the same families congregated there the whole time.. from all over the USA, and a great family from canada.
funny, the DSA was unusable anyways, as a couple came down everyday, put their towels and bags on the DSA bench, then swam. never used the bench at all, except to hold their stuff.
it would have been a great "excuse" .. if anyone were to complain about the smoking at the one end of the pool. (no way could all 8, anyway!)of us fit on tha 2 seater bench!
I apologize because this info is probably in the thread somewhere, but with 3 kids I don't have time to look at all 100 pages! Anyways, we are going to DW next month with my parents and are staying at Boardwalk Villas for the first time ever. My mother is a smoker and gets very cranky when she can't smoke. Is BWV as un-smoker frienldy as BWI (we've never stayed anywhere besides CSR so I am unfamiliar with the difference, if any, between the Inn and Villas). Is there a particular place we should ask to have our rooms so the we are closer to a DSA (we will both be in studio rooms). Do the pools have DSA?
TIA!
Heather
I totally agree with this! I have been lucky in the past and have been fairly close to the DSA's. But even if I wasn't I would not mind.I'm just like your Mom...get a little "testy" when I can't smoke! While the walk to all the DSA's was not a short one-I kinda enjoyed the "alone time". Even on vacation one can only take "so much" of "the family"!
My favorite time of the day was going down for morning coffee and stopping at a DSA. Really enjoyed the quiet time!
