Hahahahaha :lmao: somehow I knew that would be the choice!

Awwww, poor DD just returned from Urgent Care....her bronchitus has now turned into pneumonia:sick:  So now we have her on another antibiotic and more checks in a few days....

So I am getting the little one's haircut and then I will begin the trip report! :yay: Yaaaaa....I even have a great title....its going to be
"The Disboutiquers in 3-D" :rotfl2:

Your children are adorable!!! Must be hard to make 3 outfits all for one holiday.
actually those 3 were my nieces and i have 5 kids which i made them all Valentines outfits for . and yes it is crazy but there smiles make it all worth while....
wow ! i have sewed 8 v-day outfits , 1 lil pet shop jumper which i will post pictures soon and i am working on a monster truck outfit for Camdens B-day on tuesday
i did not realize that .....:confused3
Hehe.. sorry I missed that they were for the nieces. Goodness.. you are more busy than I thought! LOL!

My friend made Grace a smocked dress with that same fabric. It is a bishop angel sleeve. I love the dress you made with it.
Thanks! I would have thought the smocking wouldn't show on the printed fabric. Do you remember if it showed up well? I love that fabric. The fabric is also kind of thick. I would be nervous to pleat it! That is why I did it the way I did.

What a cute little dress. I know someone who would love that smocked insert too!
Thanks! I think you are talking about our friend that lives in Baton Rouge? ;)

I love Hannah's dress. It is too cute. I would love to see your Mardi Gras dress for her. I am working on Jenna's dress a little today and hopefully will finish it tonight.
Thanks!
Can't wait to see what you have made Jenna! How many parades are you guys going to? We've done 2 so far and I think I have 4 more planned! :rolleyes1

Adorable outfit - and you're welcome
Her V-day bows were a hit too. I'll post pictures later tonight. She calls them her fluffy bows. :rotfl:

Welcome! My SIL lives in VA Beach, we visit a lot. Hope you can make it back one day.

So I've been lurking, nursing and sewing when I can. I just about finished the Minnie Simply Sweet for DD2. Just needed her to try it on so I could place the buttons for the straps. She won't put it on and says "its yucky." Once again, DD9 says "I want it." Hopefully DD2 will come around as the cruise gets closer, its way too short for DD9. Anyway, I had her model it for the photos! Besides altering the straps I also lined the skirt so I could add the black ruffle. You can't tell from the photo but the red dot layer's hem is finished with the yellow bias tape and the black ruffle is attached to the lining.

th_IMG_6286.jpg

th_IMG_6287.jpg

This is how I intend on finishing the straps. I'm going to put buttons on the inside that will function and hope to put big yellow buttons on the outside (on top of elastic) for looks.

th_IMG_6289.jpg

This is how DD9 wants to wear it! Would make my life a little easier but she would need some sort of shorts or something under the skirt if she is going to wear it.
Really pretty!
I am guessing you have an embroidery machine?? I saw that you said you are nursing. You should make your DD a shirt that says "I eat at Mom's"!!! I wish I had that design when my DD was little. I think it is hilarious. Might be a bit much though! LOL
Here is a link. I bought it just in case I ever have another baby. :lovestruc

Her designs are WONDERFUL!

hey everyone. Happy valentines day.

We are sick today. :headache: one daughter has 102.7 is on the couch. Husband has 102.5 and can't get out of bed. And I have a low grade 100.8 . LUCKY ME :guilty: . I got some roses today delivered. We have/had reservations and a sitter for dinner tonight. Had to cancel. Anyhow, Have a good day everyone.
Hope they feel better! I hope you can reschedule your valentine's night too!

We just got back from another parade. I took my camera this time! I'll post pictures later!
My DH made me chocolate covered strawberries for Valentines Day... YUMMY!!!
:goodvibes
Hope the rest of you are having a great day!

:grouphug: Hugs and prayers to everyone that need them. I am down in the dumps today. DH and I were supposed to go to the Poconos today but sadly we are both sick. I haven't slept in two days because of severe congestion. I am so disappointed,we had tickets for a concert tonight, needless to say we canceled the hotel to late, and will be charged the full price for the night $310.00:headache: I begged the man on the phone, saying please there is no way we can drive two hours in our condition, but they wouldn't budge !! And losing 310.00 makes me even more sick. Oh well, I always get a lift from reading the boards.:) Can't wait to start seeing more pics from the Dismeet.

I love this sooo cute!! I love how you x'd the straps on the back - I dont like the halter look myself , but did you use the halter pattern to do the x back? That is too cute!!!!!:thumbsup2

Uggggg....once again I just lost all my quotes. My computer crashed and I am on my DH's laptop which I hate...plus I have a 4 year old sitting next to me trying to hit all kinds of smilies...LOL.

Anyway....thanks to those of you who complimented my DD's Valentine's day outfit.

Hugs to all of you who need prayers or are feeling down!!

(Oh and Lisa....I can't believe you DREW those pics for your appliques. You ROCK girl)!!!

This post is from my DD Taylor...LOL

:scared1:  :cheer2: pirate: :sad2: :laundy: :hippie:

Hey Everyone! With being gone to Chicago last week and trying to sew Valentine's Day dresses this week, I haven't been online at all. I got the girls dresses done finally (Thursday night - the night before they were wearing them to school) at 1:00 am. So I thought I would share the pictures. Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Here are my girls, Grace and Claire showing off their dresses and their presents from their school parties yesterday after school.

Thanks all for the prayers. Everyone is doing a little bit better this morning now that the shock is wearing off. They are a little nervous about the media showing up once the news gets ahold of where she was from. Her mom and dad are besides themselves and truly want to believe that this was a bad accident- despite the news reports and the charges. Whatever gets them through it...right??? Their son has disabled their computer so they won't drive themselves nuts checking out the news reports online. I think when it's a NCIS investigation- they aren't allowed to provide the family with much information about the case.

Anyway, thanks again everyone. You guys are the best :grouphug:

Kristine

I will continue to keep them in my thoughts. It has to be unbearable.

Love the fabrics, they look adorable.

Thanks! Yes, I did use the halter style with empire waist. I like how it is more fitted but I knew DD2 wouldn't like the halter style. She had a halter dress last summer and she hated how it felt around her neck. Little did I know the halter was the least of my problems with her! :sad2:

:rotfl: I had several PM's telling me to come see your LSU outfit (hopefully you would have emailed it to me too!!).

Here are some pictures of an LSU dress I made Hannah. I made this quite some time ago, and it has fit her for a really long time. It has some purple/gold/white gingham check bloomers to go with it, but I couldn't find them!!
She wore it tonight because I thought I could get away with that for Mardi Gras. We went to a Mardi Gras parade. She had a blast!! The parade theme was "At the Movies". It might have well just been "Disney". Almost all of the floats were disney themed. If they weren't filled with drunken men it would have been a little better. :confused3 Some of them were too drunk to even throw any beads. My DD did NOT enjoy the floats that just passed by that were just pouring beer on each other and stuff like that! She kept saying "They don't like me!".
Poor thing!
We also got rained on a good bit. I usually don't do parades in the rain, but my Hannah LOVES parades!
I snapped these pictures when we came home. I didn't want to get my camera rained on!

Oh, and I sewed some quick snaps on because my covered buttons became uncovered! I haven't had a chance to redo them yet.

I'll be posting my Mardi Gras and Valentine's outfit soon. Probably going to try to take pictures at the parades. I wish you ladies could have seen the beautiful Disney floats! I should have brought my camera even though it rained! :sad2:

btw - bows are by JenWDW! Thanks Jen!! I'll post better pictures of them with the outfit they were intended for!
It is ADORABLE (and so is Miss Hannah)!!! I have that smocking plate and I've had the gingham fabric pleated since JULY and it's still sitting there untouched. I keep wavering over the style...

I almost bought more of the little tiger head fabric today. I am going to take the dress apart that I made with it and make something else. I love it with the tiger head plate!

Is that the Miranda pattern? I love the style and I've been looking at a similar pattern (but thought I could make it up on my own).

Jennifer, I'd love to see a closeup of the bows.

*********************

I couldn't find the original posts quickly so:

Lisa, I love, love, love the owl Vida and the silly character. I agree with Maureen, you constantly amaze me! Your appliques and designs are pure perfection!!!

The fairytale fabric - there are 3 different versions and I bought some of all 3 today at Walmart. That particular one is remodeling and closing the fabric dept so I got the fabric for $2.22/yd. I'm sad about the fabric dept closing, but stoked at the deal I got!!! I'm going back tomorrow to buy more. I didn't know it was on sale until I checked out and was in a hurry.

The V-day Vida's and Minnie dress are adorable as well. I don't mean to leave anyone out but I'm a sometime lurker and I didn't get to look too far back at the designs. I enjoy looking at everyone's creations, though :)

Very cute!!! I was wondering about altering the stripwork to not be a stripwork. I am wondering if it is the same as the simply sweet then?

Thanks! Carla recently updated the stripwork jumper pattern to include a "block" skirt. I don't own the simply sweet (yet :) ) but I think the difference would be that the simply sweet would offer more bodice and strap choices. Not that I've been looking over it daily contemplating buying it or anything. :rolleyes1

Hope that helps!

So I've had Carla's Peasant top pattern for over a year now, and I finally made it last night. I'm so in love with this pattern!! I can't wait to make another one.

Here's the top without a model:

Does anyone know where I can find a pattern like this in child size? I have a commercial pattern for infants that I LOVE, but DD is almost too big for it, and I really want to keep making these swing tops for her.

I think I am going to make a gingham bishop with the same smocking plate. Isn't it the cutest???
It is the Miranda pattern by Primrose Lane. I know I pm'd you that, but just in case anyone else wanted to know. It is definitely the easiest smocking pattern I have ever made. It is a great pattern for anyone who wants to do some beginner smocking since it is such a small area!
I will post pics of our fluffy bows from Jen soon. I left my camera at my parents house.

Hrm okay... just still trying to decide what bundle I want to get. I keep waiting because I have all these other projects to finish before I even begin any of those. Thank you for the info.

Did you check youcanmakethis.com?
I know I saw one of these either there or on etsy. I think it is called a swing top? I can't remember. I have yet to make one. It is super cute too. Love the ones you made.Must be really easy to make those. Reminds me of my beloved A-lines!

Really adorable! I made a Valentine's Vida too! Your girls are too cute!

Has anyone gone to the current Disney on Ice? It is the one that is Mickey and Minnie's something. I just bought tickets, and I'm in the front row. I think we are on the side in the front row, but I didn't want to go at night without my DH to New Orleans. I hope it was worth the pricey tickets. I figured if we go we need to be in the front right? :-o
If anyone knows could you tell me some of the other characters that are in it? I could probably just let her wear her Mickey and Minnie custom that I made for Valentines day, but may need to make another!

Thanks! I am still very new to sewing and happy when something comes out right.

Def let me know how the one you didn't top stitch washes. I washed and tumble dried Kaedyn's skirt this morning. (She got some choc syrup on it yesterday). It washed really well. I was surprised. There was a little bit of gather (if that is what you call it) in the lining. It looks like my cutting may not have been perfect and there is a little more lining fabric than the fashion fabric. It didn't cause any problems. I just ironed towards the yolk.

She decided to wear it again today to Grandma's house. She must have liked it!
So far the one with out the stitching at the bottom kind of shifted in the wash . So i had to iron it so you couldn't see the lining.

Welcome! My SIL lives in VA Beach, we visit a lot. Hope you can make it back one day.

Love it! I love even more the fact that your 9 yr old wants it! I am always worried Nikki is too old even though she says she like the stuff and her friends ask me to make stuff but i still love that older girls love to wear customs! Especially the simply sweet because I am itching to try that for my dd and now I am defiantly making her one!!!

What about some cute easy fit pants with black and white dot with red trim?

Here's a similar pattern - if you can alter it and make it longer it would work. (I think it starts at a 3 though, so it moght be too big)
